@@alexojideagu So, one game where they faced anything like an attacking team, and they needed a dubious penalty to keep them in it. and nicked it in the dying seconds, when it should have been up at the other end for a clear and obvious corner that wasnt given. if you remember england beating germany 5-1, that game was electric once it got going, perhaps they will get their tails in the air when it matters and run out convincing winners, in which case, your point would be proven correct, i just hope it isn't decided by controversy.

Come on, Gab Marcotti. Champions League isn't much of quality football either. Two-three good matches out of hundreds. Haven't managed to finish watching 90 minutes for most of the games anyway. Neither have we had the Messis and Ronaldos in recent UCL seasons, so that's one reason. City-Madri-Lever are just drops in the ocean, so whatever they do, ain't enough for the whole game. We need more competition. And the same thing is reflected in the Euros. I would say that the quality of football overall is climbing down. I remember the late 80s and early 90s and it seems we are in a cycle. We have been lucky to live and witness football in the late 90s and throughout Messi and Ronaldo's career.
