I was between these two, I ended up with the OT. I do wish the OT had a few features from the Slayer Max...definitely could use a refresh. However. , it is a great yak, and so far I have zero complaints.

I went from the OT 106 PDL to the Slayer Max 10. Imo the Slayer Max is overall the better kayak especially because of all the bells and whistles. BUT the 106 does have its advantage, the plastics are thicker (less prone to warping), the kayak is far superior when it comes to stability and the OT CS is top top top tier!

The most important things on a kayak is speed and Rudder control. Without a fat rudder you cannot control a kayak in wind and waves. More hull storage areas means water can get inside the kayak. Where do you put your fish. I have yet to find the perfect kayak.

Get a catch net and put your fish in it and drag it behind your kayak. It's keeps your fish alive too.

I have been looking at both of these kayaks and to me the Native wins over the Old Town even if you don't want to to put motors or fish finders on. The weed guard on the prop, the under-seat tray, the better handles and gear tracks, and the rod storage options make it worth the extra $250 in my opinion. The PDL 106 needs to be price dropped to $1,999 to make it competitive.

I have never seen a kayak of any size go faster than 5 miles an hour. So in my opinion 10 foot compared to 12 or 14 foot makes no difference. 5 miles an hour is top speed.

That’s true and also one of the reason why I got the OT before I got the Slayer Max but the propel drive is less prone to getting weeds caught and it also has a weed guard. Got my Slayer Max for over a year now, there’s only been a handful of times where I need to take of the propellor to take out weeds whereas the PDL that was a constant thing every trip.

Aliex, awesome review bro. You point everything out, and always tell it as it is. I love both these boats, but I prefer a 12ft boat. And I love a fin drive, over a pedal drive. You can tether it to your bow, under your seat. The Pedal Drives are nice, but big and bulky, and heavy. I love my motors, and to plug my deck, with a cassette, and it's all open. 🎣 😎 🌊
