Didn’t believe this when I first read it but it seems to be true. Julian wrote all the parts for the first two albums and recorded demos for the rest of the band to learn. Other band members would contribute to the parts and change them in small ways. For example, Julian wrote most of the guitar solo in Last Night, but Albert came up with the beginning part of it after hearing a similar lick in a Freddie King song. I guess it explains why their sound began to change a lot after Room on Fire as the songwriting became more collaborative.
