For the viewers, Maltby also sells a more typical game improvement driver. Actually more than one. One has the adjustable hosel and is similarly priced to this one. The other two are non-adjustable and are considerably less.

As you may be aware, that TC Pro driver has a 1 to 1.5 degree open face angle at the standard loft position. Because of that, I play my Maltby TC Pro driver at 10* loft (and at 44.5” playing length), to bring the face angle down to 0.5 degrees open. That open face angle may explain your difficulty in turning the ball over (at least to some small degree), especially if that particular clubhead is at the high end of the open face angle tolerance. Those drivers are very nice, as are the adjustable TC Pro fairway woods, particularly for golfers who are not intimidated by slightly smaller clubheads and open face angles. Since, as a right handed golfer, my predominant miss is left of the target line with both drivers and fairway woods, and because I generate plenty of clubhead speed and backspin, these TC Pro models work quite well for me. Even when I had the driver set to 9* loft and a more open face angle, it worked pretty well for me….at least, most of the time.

Never had one their drivers but I really like what probably is the most ignored Malty irons, the STi2. Looking down at address they're closest thing to a blade I've ever seen. Also like the STF2 5 wood. With a club like that available I have no idea why anyone would want a hybrid.

Hey AJ great review! Just a few tips on this driver, it comes pretty flat and open in the "N" setting. I find that when adjusted to the "NU" (upright) setting, it helps square up the face much better at impact. Additionally, it doesn't seem to force a draw or become draw biased but just helps square things up easier. Secondly, this driver comes in a Pak with the Maltby y MPF shaft which is criminally underrated IMO and runs about $210 for the full driver. Would be great to see you run this back I the NU setting to see if it helps lower overall spin and squeeze out a few extra yards. Great stuff man!

I just swapped my Fujikara Pro 60 shaft out for a Maltby Pro Series UL and you're not lying about how underrated these shafts are. I saw your comment months back on one of Gabe's videos about the Maltby MPF shafts and how you prefer them over big brand shafts and I think I might have to re-shaft my entire iron set to them after this. Really appreciate your crazy in-depth knowledge on all things Maltby!

@@CinemaSteve what I love is that they're very stable! They do play a tad stiffer in the tip than stated but for someone hovering between S and XS, they feel outstanding at just the stock Stiff trim. Gabe even loved them and he's probably closer to a standard Stiff swing.

This has been my gamer all year even after many head-to-head tests against others from the Maltby stable, Wishon, Acer, et al. Very, very good sound and feel, excellent option for those looking for more fade bias even though the 440 is easier to close. Can get a full 2.5° open face.

@jcgolf32 definitely try the NU setting if you play standard loft. I have my 3w, 7w, and driver all in the Upright setting. Not because I slice but because all of their woods play pretty flat and open at standard. This has really helped get the club face more square for me. Love their stuff!

I have tried those Rapport shafts (Blue version), and they have been just sort of “meh” for me! Maltby is so weird because they're much better quality than any DTC out there, Takomo included. Takomo just has a marketing budget and has made their way into people's bags due to marketing and free clubs for reviewers. Compare that to Maltby who refuse to do any marketing, have no clubs they give anyone because they believe reviews dilute their image, and they are relatively unkown in the golf world. It's almost like clubs are a side quest for Golfworks since they're the end-all be-all for club fitters and supply stores. I would watch Let's Play Thru's reviews of the Maltby clubs, driver included because he talks about the feel, forgiveness, and sound of the Maltby driver he played with. He also talks about how Maltby customers stick cotton in the driver head to deaden the sound since it's a common thing players don't like about it.
@dougmaelАй бұрын
That sound issue is much more noticeable with the KE4 MaxSpeed model than it is with this TC Pro model.
@CinemaSteveАй бұрын
@@dougmael Oh thats good to know! When my Cobra F7 driver kicks the bucket then I'm most likely going Maltby.
@AZstu324Ай бұрын
@@dougmaelit's funny because I didn't even hit the max driver before stuffing polyfill in the head. Based on the original sound of the TC Pro which I also didn't like, I just went straight to deadening the sound😜. Maltby is releasing a new driver line in 2025. Hopefully they're taking some major queues from forum feedback and Gabe's reviews about what sound people are attracted to these days. Although it doesn't impact performance, it needs to be considered in the overall package.

For $210 you can get this head with Maltbys shaft that I'd argue is better than the one he used. I replaced a Ventus Blue VeloCore and MotoreX with it and like it better. I currently game this driver and I get better distance and disbursement than my Mizuno ST-Z 230, previous Cobra aerojet LS, and Callaway Smoke TD. While it's not the best looking out of that bunch, it's no joke on the stats.

Instead of putting cotton in the weight hole I wonder if spray foam would work better for sound deadening?
@AZstu324Ай бұрын
I'm pretty sure AJ did a video with spray foam a while back. Instead of cotton, I use nylon polyfill. It holds its form whereas cotton can pack up with all of inertia inside the head over many swings. And it's removable if/when needed and spray foam is permanent.
