its so interesting seeing someone who hasnt been immersed in scripted minecraft roleplay their entire life talk about parkour civilization.
@danielzakgaim27642 ай бұрын
One part you didn't mention is the series has a surprising amount of foreshadowing. For example, after that one pro delivers parkour to Evbo's house you can just BARLEY see them fall down to the noob layer out of the corner of your screen. Or when Evbo goes to Seawatt's valut you can see an armour stand with a pair of chainmail boots. This foreshadows the 2nd movie, but the important thing is that Evbo NEVER mentions it. It is purely there for attentive viewers. So say what you will about the actual writing, you can't deny Evbo doesn't have an eye for detail.

7:56 "How and why parkour is used as currency" is explained in the Minecraft Parkour Civ video, though. It was through subconscious reinforcement by implanting a false memory of supposed life before the civilization. The false memory was of two friends in a normal world, one needed a diamond, the other had one, and the former did parkour to convince the latter to give him the diamond. This was the false memory implanted into every player entering the civilization. The friend needing the diamond is like a mannequin which is replaced by the character in which the false memory is implanted, making everyone think it is them who is in the memory. I do hope you did watch this parkour civ before making this video. Other than that, great commentary!

Though I grew out of *Shounen anime* for quite some time, I recognize that this video also describes the genre perfectly. Other than pacing (depends on the show/era/budget/etc.), they got all the other topics ticked off. • Power creep • The wham factor (suspenseful cliffhangers for example) • Stakes • Plot progression

I'm all for episodic-style writing. It's a ton of fun and keeps me "turning the page."
@anothercastle172 ай бұрын
One piece of solid advice I've heard is "get to the point". Can you describe a character in one evocative paragraph or even sentence? Then don't spend pages on it. Can you make an engaging and thought provoking scene using only half a page in a screenplay? Then do that; don't drag things out.
@snibo10242 ай бұрын
Mainly the reason why I had a bad time watching blade runner (both of them) they always take so long to get to the point 😭

no way YOU made a vid on this😭😭 but yea i was actually surprised by how the movie managed to keep my attention span HOOKED the entire time and actually got me curious and hyped in seemingly weird parts

i also feel like some of its success is because it is some sort of satire of those brainrot videos you would see on youtube kids. i started watching parkour civilization when the second episode came out, i clicked on it because i was like "haha i bet its so bad, let me get some cheap laughs and move on", but then i actually became addicted to the story, even if it was silly and dumb it managed to keep my attention

Interesting. I had tried to watch the original video, and ended up really confused on why people loved it so much. So, thanks for explaining why it was able to catch on so quickly! I also love that you added a few of the boom sound effects lol.

The pacing of the video didn't really land for me, it felt like there was a lot of explanation, monologue, and unnecessary recap that could've been cut to improve the flow, but since it was originally released as a series of short episodes it does make sense that it ended up being that way. What captured my attention more was just the pure inventiveness of the setting. Even if it's weird and sometimes nonsensical, the writer doesn't shy away from really committing to the core premise and building off of it in interesting new ways, with each new conflict being centered around the rules and ideas that were established previously in a way that's really satisfying. It's what great sci-fi/fantasy writers have been doing for decades to really immerse you in their worlds

Next generation? No definitely not next, more exactly this is current/last generation, the story almost perfectly lays bare the story telling technique of how your average shounen manga works in such a way the series feels more like a educational video in a way

The boom sound effect is used like a laugh track might be used. The only difference is that it fits even if you don't find a joke funny. The boom effect also has the effect of forcing your attention back to the screen.

While watching parkour civilization I told to my self this thing is so badly written but for some reason I like it and this though has been pondering in my head since I watched it, thanks for the analysis now I can sleep well knowing why I like parkour civilization

If you want to talk about the next generation of storytelling, look at VTubers. Actually, it’s been done before already so never mind. It’s like in wrestling when they do “Kayfabe”. We are sold a fictional backstory and persona of a host and let them guide us through a fantasy. We engage with it collectively as fans and new stories are created. Storytelling putting the fourth wall behind the audience
That is an interesting insight. It's definitely going to be useful someday.

I know another minecraft story series i used to watch when i was little. It's Gizzy Gazza's Altered Adventure. I think he turned the series into a book series but i'm not sure. It's a fantasy series too! I'd love to see a video on this. No one seems to see the awesome potential in minecraft, but it's starting to pick up. Please 🙏 i'm beggin' bro do a video on it 😆
