Yeah, it's really ridiculous, i quit for almost 7 months and now play just a couple of times a week at most, but what they did to the maps is horrendous, they cut off whole sections narrowing the maps even further with nogo zones?? What the hell were they thinking making every match more and more head on collision battles. Rotation is as good as non existent, It is either 1 cap games one after the other, sometimes not even bothering to at least put you on the other side of the same map for the next game. Or the same 2 maps over and over and if you think let's change BR to get another map you get the same ones over and over. I once checked out the maps a year or two back and concluded that back then there were well over 160 map variants, large, small, 1 cap, 3 cap and that battle mode, without taking into consideration where you can spawn, with all the maps added that should be well over 200 variants by now. Excluding some maps for certain BR's due to size or history there is absolutely zero reason for map rotation to be as good as non existent. No reason at all, even if you play 8 hours straight, to see the same map twice. Somehow they just dont want to or they are simply to incompetent to program a decent matchmaker and map rotation system.

A problem with reality vs WT is the match-ups and the application. The Ferdinand and the Nashorn were just stopgaps until the Jagdpanther's arrival. Ferdinand didn't get an MG because they plated over the one in the bow from the Tiger P hull and Krupp warned that blowing a hole through the 200mm casement plate would substantially weaken it. The lost Ferdinands at Kursk were more down to NO support. The StuGs, Panzer 3s and infantry were stripped away and there was no mine clearing ahead of the Ferdinands. De-tracked vehicles were blown up because the recovery teams couldn't get to them even in the dark. Blame shifting laid the failure of all other German forces in the northern pincer at the Ferdinand's feet.

Odd, I am glad that you spoke about the problem with WT map rotation. I donno if it is automated or bugged, but it doesn't look like it to me. Instead, I feel like a guy at gajin picks 4 to 5 maps a day and calls it a day.. hence why we get the exact same maps with its variant multiple times (sometimes in a row too) a day.

9 years ago I unlocked the Ferdinand and rolled into my first battle. I scored 14 kills in that battle which was a record for me and was one of my best memories in War Thunder

I actually really, really like the Ferdinand. By far one of my favorite TDs. Why? Reverse speed. It has two engines instead of a reverse gear. One forward, one back. Same speed going forwards as backwards. Also, it has a faster reload than the Tiger 2, with no ready rack to speak of. Sure it doesn't have the penetration of the Jagdtiger, but it also doesn't have the slow as balls reload either. Jagdtiger is fun, I've used it a lot, but Ferdinand is just objectively better IMO.

About Ferdinand and Jagdtiger survivability: Jagdtiger has better armor overall, but Ferdinand is harder to kill by overpressure with HE slingers (e.g. M109)

Quick correction, the fast reverse gear is not from one engine driving forwards and one driving backwards. The engines drive an elective drive system (similar to a freight train) by generating electricity which then feeds electric motors attached to the track. The high reverse speed comes from the fact the electric motors can spit either way with no problem. Each engine drives a seperate track. It’s really is a fun tank to play as well.

odd, all 6.7 will be up tiered. 94% of the time. and all 7.3 will be down tiered. 7.7 drops off on down tier changes by 63%. but it still happens. the sweet spot for WT is 7.3 because the shear lacking in numbers of 7.3. is horrendous. 8.0 gets down tiered less than 7.7 around 19% of the time. it mainly gets up tired fully 81% of the time to 9.0. We have found that most cheaters play low tier that have any skill set in playing the game. the cheaters that dont have the skill set to play usually only ever play top tier 10.3 and higher. any ways love watching you play.

I’ve recently started playing Russian 7.3 and it absolutely is a sweet spot for downtiers. I’d say 60-70% of my games are 6.7-7.7 with full downtiers being common too

the problem for most people with tank destroyers is they dont understand that they were never meant for brawling they are for ambushing you need to know the map fairly well and the lanes that are commonly used then find a spot with some cover that you can watch the lane and ambush then move as soon as possible to another spot to set up another ambush pushing with a tank destroyer is very risky and you will always have a disadvantage against anything with a turret

Depends, the Ferdinand is one of those tanks you can brawl with. Trouble is very few maps now are suited to flanking from distance with TDs, so we have to adapt.

@@chriswaldron2617 true you can tank some shots but if its an urban map its easy for an enemy to use buildings to flank with low maneuverability and no turret its better to not get close enough to brawl if you want to survive better to rely on ambushing it is a shame that it seems like the devs keep changing maps to force a head on confrontation when over half of the armor in the game is not meant for that style of warfare

Its been awhile since I played war thunder but the Ferdinand seemed pretty good. Jagdtiger's reload is slow. Tiger 2's have bad turrets. I'd argue the Ferdinand has better armor, and the same great long 88. With most of the German late ww2 vehicles you need to play them at range where the armor works better and the guns are still deadly. The problem is that more and more cold war vehicles with super high pen rounds are fighting these vehicles. Mobility and high pen beat out armor and a solid aphe.

T95, T29 and T34 APCBC makes quick work of the Ferdinand at close - mid range, for long ranges use the APCR and aim for the corner of the turret cheeks to hit the ammo rack.

To be honest i realy do enjoy the Ferdinand and the Jagdtiger. Good armour, slow but steady and a great gun (i realy love the 128mm). i belive most gamers hate those two because they want to rush into the action and let hell lose but with those two tanks, just as with the Maus, you have to play more passive and maybe even on defence.

I feel like the Ferdinand’s frontal case armour is so fucking trolly for how “thin” it is. 220mm or there abouts but it routinely memes rounds that should get through easily with one to spare. It eats 20 pounder APDS and the APDS from the Conqueror all the time for me which makes literally no sense at all.

I agree with you.. I really think they have more armor then stated.. I’ve taken so much and tbf there have been times I’ve take lm some side shots that didn’t pen, to my shock… it’s a beast for sure.. depending on the map and if your team is worth a damn you can really kick ass with it at mid to long range… intend not to get close unless I’m gonna cap haha even then though if you do it right it can brawl better then the tiger if you got the skill

Playing in the new M26E1 and the T26E5, these things became a problem until I figured out I can just shoot top right when I'm aiming at his face with HVAP and itll detonate his ammo everytime. Same thing with Tiger 2's, tho the american 90 is really unreliable against the mantlet of the Tiger 2

Hey Odd you should take a look at the Ikv 72 it's a great low tier TD for sweden. The gun depression is really really good I think it was -20. The Shell is exactly the same as the Strv m/42 EH and it's at 1.3 so you'll one shot almost everything.

My favorite German Tank destroyer. And it just eats HE like its nothing ,yea sure the engine gets destroyed but it can drive with out it ( it is/was a bug that i had i do not have video evidence but fotos with a bit of time inbetwen each) but i think its great it also eats smaler bombs like HE, a 50KG fab landed on my engie deck and destroyed my engine aswell as tracks and gun but my crew was ok.

It’s not great up close though seeing as a scout can sneak up on you but depending on the map I find it does incredible..

As a certified German Main I actually really like the Ferdinand, even though I glossed over it a long time and just used the Tiger II and the Bulldog as my main tanks. Inexperienced players really do struggle with it so it can cause chaos in some lobbies. The Tiger II H is undoubtedly better though, especially the premium bias one...

@@Clement8761 my Tiger II H Sla.16 is truly amazing don’t get me wrong.. but man, my Ferd takes all the thinking out of playing for me.. mid to long range I don’t ever have to worry about being penned it seems.. there is the rare occasion an up tier will know how to handle it when shooting at me but even then I can get the hell out of the need a second shot most of the time.. with the right skill the ferd can brawl too if need be ✌🏼

So there was that event vehicle that is literally just a Ferdinand but ungraded, called the Elefant. I believe it has a hullmounted MG you can use, as well as a new copula, not that you want that in this game lol

In most cases the ferdinand is better, better side armor makes it kore survivable than the jagdtiger where if u get flanked ur toast, the ferdinand also has better gun control and it doesnt feel that heavy and slow as the jagdtigers barrel moves. If u figth a spg ur dead in each one soo thats my conclusion

Man it really is annoying when friendlies get shot, cant drive and smoke thinking it will help them when in the end all it does is hurt your teammates trying to help cause if you cant move the enemy knows right where to shot so the smoke does nothing, i feel ppl need to make videos on the proper ways to use smoke like the does and donts of smoke in WT

This thing is not hard to deal with unless you dont have a good penentrating round to go through the super structure
