CRT Saturday Matinee #43: Stinger
Yes...you heard me right...a cute 'em up?! Jumping back in with a new episode of CRT Saturdays with another cool shmup on the original NES! A classic from Konami right here, straight from back in the day! Solid fun to be had..If I only had an instruction manual before I played. 😂

So damned good! A very interesting lager here. If you enjoy a roasty toasty malt flavor in your beer you may enjoy this bad boy. Definitely get a Stout or Porter vibe with this brew but its actually a lager. Impressed with this style of beer on my end. You will be too! 🍻

It’s definitely different than most. I like the change up from horizontal to vertical between levels but the power up method adds a level of difficulty that is different from most shmups. Still a fun time though. 🍻

I love shmups... they are my favorite genre. But, I absolutely hate the TwinBee series. The bell juggling mechanic drives me crazy! But, I'm glad to see you started to enjoy it

I have been enjoying the genre a bit more lately. Not very good at it but I know that each game has its own style and repetition is the key for each. I just like the fact that you can pop most of them in and play for a few minutes or for a few hours if you choose. The juggling bell power up does make this game a little tougher I think. Trying to get to a point that you find the right power up…I did enjoy this though. Appreciate you watching dude. 🤙🏻

This game is very quirky. I still never figured out what some of the items do that appear for you to pick up. The power up method is unique though. Wish I had figured that out sooner. 🤣

Dude TwinBee! You're correct hitting the bells changes up your power ups. Such a happy game. Konami had it going on back then. That Schwarzbier sounds super tasty. That's a beer genre I haven't tried. I have had Helle weizen before but, that's a totally different beer all together. Damn, now I'm thirsty. Cheers bud!!🍻🍻

I had no clue as to what I was doing here at first. 🤣 Once I started figuring it out though I had a good time with this one. Deceptively tough though. Trying to clear the enemies, juggle the bells and not get killed is interesting. Really solid game though just to pop in and have fun with. I have had a couple of different Schwarzbier and so far have enjoyed them. It’s an interesting style. Has the taste of a Stout but finishes clean like a lager. I have never had a Helleweizen though. You would enjoy this just for the pick up and play aspect. These 8 & 16 bit shooters are great to just pop in and go. Play for 5 minutes or 5 hours. The cute me up style is definitely deceptive though. It’s tougher than it looks. Hope you were able to enjoy a beer or two after all. I enjoyed too many last night. 🤣

It’s an interesting style of beer for sure. It does have the same malty style of flavor that you get from a stout but it finished cleaner like a lager. Solid style. I have had a few before and have enjoyed them. Stinger is a lot of fun. Just pick up and play. I don’t think I have tried out Parodious yet. Will have to check that out. Cheers! 🍻

Hah! I figure it’s a Nintendo game. What better way to cover up the chrome some than with a Nintendo hat. This is a fun little title and even though it’s cute it is deceptive. Fun little challenge and a nice way to burn up a few hours on the NES. 🤙🏼

There is one power up that gives you 2 more ships that fight alongside. In Japan it this is a series called TwinBee Da. There are two other famicom sequels we didn’t get. 😢

This one is another perfect example of just popping in and going for it. Pretty fun too. Not a bullet hell style of shmup but by arming as hell! That was what was awesome about the old 8 & 16 bit era. Just popping and play. No BS downloads, no tutorials. Just good old fashioned fun figure it out as you go. 🍻🤙🏼

Sweet Shirt Brother, at this point you might as well be working for Brewery Fire. Game is decent enough, not too dark, kind of like playing Kirby I guess. You do shoot a lot of animals. That's probably one thing a few folks might have an issue with.

My first attempt didn’t go so well. 😂 This game is like a devil in disguise. Deceptive in its looks but harder than you would think. It’s fun though.
