The other one is they cancel you to go on holiday, whats that all about, this serperates the customers on you're diary. Its bad enouch with scottish rain, van breaking down, weddings funriels and then they give you this rubbish. They also lock the gates and refuse to give you keys. Its outdoor work. Let us come and come FFS it wasn't like this 30 years ago when my dad did it. To many amiture gardeners or company owners signing on. Then they want bespoke appointments when we are not even paid enough. I start at 40 quid a garden, but I honestly think it should be 80 min and 300 a day a man, struggling to get anywhere near it. While Neds on bennifits are beating the price up with bad work, bad machines and they have no spares. I own flats and that keeps me solvent but if I didn't I would be screwed. And clean up your dog shit.

Some have access issues when away I guess, it's people I've never worked for expecting you to get there within a couple of days. Can beat some properly rental to keep income trickling in👌

@LewisgardenservicesLtd they don't have access issues they don't create for themselves, they lock their back gates, years ago I could get keys not now. I even have one thet locks the front garden. Expecting immediate starts is normal on gladgow, they all work for government an big corporations. Spend their days making and following compliance and clicking a mouse, they have no idea about costs, diary's and problems when you explain to them, they don't care. There are so many neds working ilegaly they will always get 1, they keep going out of business after a year or 2 though, but they are always there. I had some boys shouting at me once working in their patch stealing their drug money.

I absolutely agree with you, you aren’t even considering well if it’s an “un”emergency I can do it for double the rate, so good for you. An elderly neighbour has just been charged £45 for changing a light switch as it was an emergency call out, what a rip off, if I’d known, I’d have done it for nothing. Keep your standards Nathan, it’s your business 👍

My wife answer the phone now and shes more straight to the point than me... Basically if you want us to rearrange a schedule to suit you, you're being charged a premium... Im also strict now with licked gates or people "not awake", im charging a no access fee for my time and diesel Maybe a little excessive but im done with letting customers walk all over me

I had a good chuckle at this video. I have customers who won't commit to a biweekly cut but will pay extra every 2-3 months for their 3' long grass to be cut & taken away. The mind boggles 😅

We get that pretty much every year. A furniture store we do maintenance for contacts us to say the "big boss" is visiting the stores in 2 days time and there are some lights out can we fix them, usually about 100 or so to replace lamps in. Bearing in mind we cover a few stores in the north which are all having the same visit and they have know about this for weeks, also the 100 lights haven't just stopped working in the last few days LOL. Its the same every year and they never seem to learn!

We get them all the time mate, varying from one off clients to a few usual culprit regulars. Pouring rain for a week on the trot and they still think youl be there on time on the usual day (cause there isn't a backlog to catch up with or anything) I think some folk think we just live in a closet & we only ever come out when they specifically want there garden done 🙄👀

You take things to heart too easily Nathan. To some people, especially older people, they tend to see things that we would class as trivial things, as emergencies. Also, from personal experience, there is nothing more annoying than tradesmen turning up too early when we've agreed on a time. It isn't too bad for gardeners, as the work you do is outdoors, but when they want to be in the house and they rock up half an hour early, I will make them wait in their vans until I'm ready.

Thank you for explaining,however you should not have to explain your kind circumstances, . The way I see most of these channels now ,is because of the work you do mire and mire folk, are just expecting to be catered too. Clearing there property. None help!!.Folk in ,score,X straights would not allow the yard to get into that shape, they don't care for elderly children or pets , given the fact no where to rest sit in play in their dumped filth.

I’m avoiding these now.. the family BBQ or the party, and I urge every pro gardener watching this to do the same. It’s not worth the aggro. I MIGHT entertain it for a long standing customer, when you know them, and you’re there regularly anyway and you know you’ll see the money, but a new enquiry which starts “I have a party..” just ignore them, block the damned number 😂 it’s always with the promise of regular maintenance afterwards which never materialises, or “You’ll get a lot of work from me I know a lot of people..” yadda, complete waste of time and potentially also non payers. Or knock downs, plus a heap of unnecessary pressure.
