I grew up in that park before the skate park was even built. There were only some concrete planter boxes we(locals) used to grind or ollie onto and then a nice painted curb in that eastern Parking lot that the neighbors battled us over skating cuz of the noise it made right in their backyard! I like to think that we were part of the inspiration for the new skate park and they couldn't have dedicated it to a nicer guy and great skater Phil Shao! Thanks for the awesome video! Fun Fact: the large playing field across from the skate park entrance used to be where the 49ers practiced. We could see them on the other side of the fence practicing from the community pool when we went off the diving board. We would get a picture of the team roster from their office and wait for him to leave practice and get their autographs on it. I have one full of autographs from 1982! One day when I was with friends going to the pool, the players were practicing outside of their fenced area and I found Joe Montana got his autograph again and he swung me around in circles by my arms. That's an experience I'll never forget.
