Cleric is a very strong class, but it's unpopular because we have Shadowheart from the start

I dunno, it’s always regarded as the healing class. And while it’s good at healing, it’s not all it is. I did play a life cleric though so healing was ALL I did. But I got the dual wield perk and got a hireling to give me a devotee mace, I also called one down myself and I was doing good damage with dual wielding maces.

@@PS-cq8qr My friend and I are planning a Honor run. I'm going Light Cleric and use the Luminous armor to I can do extra radiant damage. We usually respec Shadowheart into Life Cleric, when we get Boneman. Her and my SGs are going to nuke chapter 2. I'm taking one into storm sorc for free flight after spell. and the free con save throw. Rest of the levels are Cleric. I'm going to start as sorc to get the con save and flight out of the way. Just stat yourself for Cleric and you're good.

Gerringoth actually does more damage the more gold you have. If you have a few thousand, it's basically instakill. You can easily avoid it by just sending your gold to camp, or just dumping it on the floor for a minute.

Give her all of it (as long as it's more than 5000) and she gives you an item that allows you to turn people to gold. Then just persuade her to kill herself. EDIT: Just did it, no. If you give her enough money to get the scroll she lets you pass and you have to start the fight and kill her. Just remember to take out the floating skulls first. Every time you kill one she loses 100HP. You can cast Darkness on her to take her out of the fight (not an option with Clerics). Once the skulls are gone a stiff breeze can take her out. You get your money back, and then you can fully explore, loot, her property. Do pick up all the gold on the floor, before giving it to her. She can make it explode if it's still there.

@@freman007 nice strategy or ... you can simply push her out of the window, shoot the skulls and then finish her off ... she can't get back up. I actually managed to kill her before touch the skulls ... only 250 gold as loot instead of 600 + 250 ... not worth it :P

Some enemies in bg3 have an ability called 'Radiant retort' this means when you do radiant dmg they deal double force dmg back at you! That's why you took dmg attacking the shar guys. Only a few enemies in act 3 have it so it shouldn't be a problem

Cleric is crazy strong, its just half of players plan to romance Shadowheart so they don't want to be the same class as their in-game girlfriend. Its redundant to be a Cleric if you know you're going to have Shadowheart as a Cleric before you even make ur character.

I did and so did my brother and all my friends. I also knew Karlach was a barbarian and astarion was a rogue and so on. I was going to be Paladin or Sorcerer because on my lawful good run thru I wouldn't get those characters. D&D players put in a lot of homework and same with the diablo type players which are this games 2 largest audience groups.@@thejury94

Should really check out descriptions of buffs or spells enemies use. Geringothe Thorm has a spell that deals damage based on how much gold the target is carrying (8d12 per 500 gold carried) which can easily reach 000s in damage.

so with the scene with the dark urge butler where you got wyll, it choses the character you have the highest approval with (its usually the character you are romancing) because the whole thing was that because you didnt killed isobel, now the durge had to kill their beloved (words from the journal entry)

I recommend making enemies wet with create rain on tempest cleric. Makes electric and cold damage doubled. Combine that with call lightning and their channel divinity ability you can do 60+ damage very easily

@@thejury94 the only problem with ice storm it their channel divinity reaction only applies to shock or thunder damage so the roll would be random. Call lightning or any other lightning spell would be able to use it doing max damage regardless of the roll and then being doubled from the wet condition.

Unlocking container is not an issue, just need strong enough single attack. But not able to disarm can be very annoying at some places.

try to increase you initiative (there are shields, armours and bows that give 1-3 ini). trust me, being able to have your whole party attack first is worth sacrificing some other stats. with lots of are you should be able to end 50-60% of all fights before getting attacked at all.

Okay, making a decent thieving Cleric. Firstly, Astarion (or Kree, the Duergar hireling, racial invisibility makes her a very strong infiltrator/scout) because of the Charlatan background giving proficiency in Sleight of Hand and Deception. Maddala Deadeye has Urchin, for Stealth and Sleight of Hand, but you'll have to give her that ring that provides darkvision. Of the three I prefer Kree, but you may be sticking to story characters. Class, Cleric (obviously). Subclass, Trickery Domain (they have the Disguise Self spell on their spell list). Make sure you take Guidance as one of your cantrips. Starting stats, 8/16/14/10/16/10 At the start of the game get the gloves of thievery, then later the graceful cloth, they will never take this off. Any other equipment that boosts stealth and sleight of hand (like the Gloves of Power (get the Absolute's Brand on your entire party, one at a time so the others don't disapprove)). Put ASIs into Dexterity until it can't be boosted anymore (since the GC boosts dexterity by 2, but caps at 20). At the Last Light Inn, kill the Strange Ox. He will drop the Shapeshifter's Boon Ring, and the Hat of Fire Acuity. As long as you are shapechanged, as with Disguise Self, the ring will give +d4 to all skill checks, which stacks with Guidance. In Act 3 there are the Nimblefinger Gloves that give +2 dexterity if you're a Gnome (no cap), and being disguised as a Gnome counts. So with Guidance (d4), the SBR (d4), dexterity (+3 to +5), and proficiency in sleight of hand (+2 to +4), along with +1 from the Gloves of Power, you're getting between +8 and +18 to lockpicking and trap disarming rolls (and pick-pocketing, of course). The Nimblefinger Gloves will add +1 to those rolls. With advantage thanks to the Graceful Cloth. EDIT: Make sure to get the Smuggler's Ring. +2 to sleight of hand will bump those totals up significantly.

​@@thejury94 I did think that instead of the ASI at level 4, take the Skilled feat for Stealth, Perception, and Survival, so you have the exploration proficiencies handled too. Skilled is a bad feat, because normally you get the skills you absolutely need from your class. However, because you're voluntarily limiting yourself you don't have that option and Skilled becomes a viable choice.

​​@@thejury94 Sorry. I did have a brain fart. Most locked chests can be opened simply by whacking them with a large hammer. Bludgeoning damage. Give whoever your strongest party member is (bonus points if it's Karlach) a +1 Maul (I found one in the shops which is why I mention it, but a warhammer will be okay too) and just beat the chest to destruction. It should not damage the contents. That said, it is noisy, which might be a concern, but you're Clerics. Silence is on your spell list. Just cast silence over the chest and beat it like it owes you money. Because it does.

You don't have to kill the ox to get the ring. You can just send in someone solo in act 1... have them agro him, then don't fight back. Let him kill you, revive in camp, then come back and talk to him. He will sell you the ring for like 200gp. Easy peasy.

@@thejury94 I couldn't take a chance on them killing Harpers later, so killed them first. The Drider was a bit of a pain, but my party are getting to the point where most enemies are just a stack of HP to whittle away.

LOL. Clerics main power comes from Spirit guardians and Spiritual weapon combo which can both be upcast. They arent as good as wizards or Sorcerers as being battlefield controllers. Slow, hypnotic pattern, counterspell, haste, banishment, otilukes res sphere, wall of stone, conjure elemental, hold monster, telekinesis are the big heavy hitters in the game.

Wizards and Sorcs may do more damage to the battlefield, however, they struggle when they don't have front liners. Clerics don't need front liners because they can use heavy armor while also getting access to many AOE spells that allow them to control the battle, while also healing themselves in the process.

I mean clerics are pretty busted. I'd considered playing 2 in a playthrough and not just for memes. One as a life cleric with all of the bless and resistance gear on heal. With 2 levels warrior for action surge. To get out bless and the defensive properties of an AoE heal in the same turn per short rest. Can even use a different concentration spell past turn 1 as the staffs special bless doesn't go away if you drop concentration. 2nd cleric as a life domain build focused around spirit guardians and luminous gear. Being the brunt of my Frontline after luminous armor

@@thejury94 As I added downstream, Astarion comes with Sleight of Hand proficiency, so make sure he has 16 dexterity, and get him doing lockpick duties with the Gloves of Thievery (Graceful Cloth doesn't really suit the Cleric aesthetic, but it is the best equipment for it, +2 dexterity and advantage on all dexterity checks). Unfortunately without Rogue/Bard he can't get expertise, which is necessary for hitting the 30DC some events require. You do have Guidance (on everyone) so that'll help. He'll be good with locks and disarming traps, but he won't be stealing high value equipment from vendors. Do that the old fashioned way. Loot every item you come across and barter it to vendors for the equipment you need.

Sharrans have reflection damage when you deal radiant damage ... i managed to get my paladin killed with his smites before realizing that xD ( that ability is not only on sharrans so make sure you examine them first next time. Tactician is not very difficult but can be quite unforgiving if you don't pay attention to the details ;) )

I am curious about battle clerics... If you have 4 clerics, you can cast ward in each one, that will persist until long rest. (Full resist) but the caster also receives damage (but again, 4 clerics can heal).. You can have them all fight with so much resistance.. Or keep playing like you do but fun resistance. And I believe there is a great spell later for LIGHT path.. Not sure if all 4 would benefit but it gives advantage against enemies in light (easy to do if all clerics are lighting everything)

@@thejury94 It's not that they're LESS likely to take damage... they take HALF... and the other person takes half. So you just spread your damage taken out. However, you will also get +1AC and +1 saving throws for all clerics. Good buff idea.

@@basedbear1605 You also take half of the normal damage from attacks since you gain resistances, so wouldn’t the two characters who split the damage take only a quarter of the damage each, totaling half the full damage one would normally take? I’ve never actually used it, so I’m not sure if it just splits the damage, or halves it then splits it.

I did this run some days ago: Tav - War Cleric (Main striker, Strenght rolls) Shadowheart - Trickery Cleric (Sneaky ranger like, some CC spells, Dex rolls) Lae'zel - Life Cleric (Main healer and CC applier, Full wisdom) Gale - Light Cleric (Main magic damage dealer, Int-Wis spread) I gotta say, it's probably one of the best parties I've had, the fact that most had healing word to revive others from distance with a lvl 1 spell slot and extra action was way too useful.

@@Vecamiel It's the Wapira's Crown. You get it by killing all three goblin leaders, not by leading Minthara to the Grove then killing her, killing them all at the Camp. Then when Zevlor gives you a bag of gold (accept it) it comes with the crown. It may also be findable in a burrow under a tree southeast of the Blighted Village (X: 74 Y: 356). I'm going to check that location myself, since I did the raid option to save Sazza.

I think you understimate the value of the spell Sanctuary which is very useful to keep the healer cleric alive, I also suggest you would have at least 1 life cleric in your party since you're using mass healing word but it is not healing enough for a level 3 spell.

@@rakeblightwood2115 Yes, but he's a Cleric, so doesn't have access to the Wizard spell list. Astarion has the Charlatan background, which gives him proficiency in sleight of hand. Make him a medium armor Cleric (actually you may not need to if Larian have removed strength requirement from armor) with 16 dexterity, and make him your primary lock picker. Savescum to ensure you don't waste your lockpicks. Gale has Sage, which gives him proficiency with Arcana and History, both intelligence skills. He should get your Warped Headband of Intellect. Karlach has Outlander, for Athletics and Survival. Maybe useful for spotting dig up areas, but then you have Scratch. Lae'zel has Soldier, Athletics and Intimidation. Not particularly useful. Shadowheart has Acolyte, for Insight and Religion. Wyll has Folk Hero, giving Animal Handling and Survival. Clerics themselves get two from the list of, History, Insight, Medicine, Persuasion, Religion. Your main character should take Persuasion, since he has to be the face of the party. Otherwise they're all pretty mediocre.

your mistake, make full Cleric party, but multyclass into other classes, havea war doman-fihgter or pala for tanking, a war or nature domain ranger, a war /shadows domain rogue or war dom monk and a Storm domain with sorc or Wizard! And done :) Alternatively mix and match whatever class you wish with Cleric just remember the holly trinity of RPGs that spilled out into MMOs, TANK-HEALER-DPS!
