Maybe I'm a freak/nerd for this but it's actually appealing to me that this bike is very quiet from the factory. I really don't want to bother others around me when I'm on my bike, particularly around trails etc, so a quiet bike works for me!

Excellent review of an ADV bike doing ADV stuff. The 800DE just seems to be much more capable of road than the Transalp. I'm most likely going to get this bike soon.
@PerspectiveBeyond
@PerspectiveBeyond Жыл бұрын
For me the worst part of the Transalp off-road is that part at the bottom of the engine that sticks out (and by a lot). It feels very delicate on rough terrain, and could also act as an "anchor" if it gets stuck behind a large rock or log. I guess a proper skid plate can mitigate this but, I don't know, feels like a big design flaw for an ADV.

I'm impressed that you flogged the VStrom in stock form all the way around, it gives a great base line for how capable the bike is and can become. So yeah, now you can pitch that can. lol I really need to ditch the can and cat on my 890, it's a bit tricky to do in California. At 10M52 you say the engine is not noisy enough. Suzuki has understood the trend all over the world towards less noise permitted and you need to consider that, even if it is not the case in OZ. Why would you need more noise? Ols macho stuff, I'm afraid. Little noise, much power sounds perfect to me and good on Suzuki for having understood that the world does not want a bunch of really noisy off road riders riding through some times private land. So think it through! What YOU say has meaning, since you are a you tuber. Young minds are influencable! But, have fun riding! I think you have the best middle weight ADV bike there is!

I don't like a loud bike, but I struggle to hear the revs and since it's a smooth engine it is also harder to gauge them. I explained it a bit more on one of my next videos. But yes, can't stand the obnoxious pit bikes and MX bikes that get around

Nice review mate. how it going now youve' had it for a while? I looked at one in the shop but have a few concerns. Hows the buffering with the stock windshield? and I noticed a huge gap in front of the tank that could potentially let a lot of air p into your face from the front wheel?
@onthebackwheel

Cheers. Mate I'm really enjoying the bike. There is a little bit of buffering, more from the visor being small. I'm hearing good things about the OEM larger shield. Hessler is also doing a rally screen which looks good

The Suzuki is not handsome in my mind but that's not why I would buy one. I didn't buy my KLR for the looks, that's for sure. The Vstrom appears to have a lot of potential.

I like high fenders on bikes. Stroms are bikes that just work. Like a KLR, nothing fancy. Just ride.

I got a dr650 and I want something that can do long trips but also hit a trail or two if need be as I live way out in the mountains. This is very similar to the terrain out by me.

Good to see another SEQ rider on KZbin. Big fan of the vstrom, I was tossing up between it and the Transalp. I don't go as hard as you offroad, so ended up with the Honda.

The Tuareg is better off road and more fun to ride in the corners. The 800 is better for commuting and comfort though. Nice bikes for sure

I'm going to pick mine up today. I'm in USA. Great video! It's good to see it's capability. I especially like to see the limits - bottoming out and the slower technical parts but I also enjoyed the the fast tracks too man. Yahoo! It's a big adventure bike so it's going to have limits. It was good to see the enduro guys ahead of you showing the terrain and pace very well. But it's dusty there - huh? Anyway, knowing my 2014 Vstrom 1000 - I know this 800 is my dream bike.

Great chose! The 800DE seems like very capable middle weight. Even if you end up putting some better suspension on it, which you may not need to. Lots of people thin they should have updated the looks. I think it still looks modern. Love the color way. Not a fan of the headlights but that's not a big deal.

I’m sure many of us are KLR owners and may look for an upgrade one day. It would be amazing if you compare in detail the T7 and CFmoto (more) to the yellow beast. One thing I had hoped for was the tubeless tyres the way they had with previous spoked models. I like the idea of the V being more comfortable, reliable and larger tank. A combination the other 2 can’t offer.

Hi thanks for the review, you ride quite well on the dirt roads, which gives the bike a real review on it's capabilities that 90% of us would ride, the rest 10% would use a KTM...but we average riders don't race. the bike appeared to handle to bumps well and 1st gear appears low enough, best of all out of the box it looks like it can perform well off road and on.
