I'm glad you liked the speakers! One of the goals with this design was to have a component set that could extract the maximum sound quality and output from stock head units. You don't need to spend money on an amplifier to get the most from these speakers, so that money can be spent on sound deadener or other parts of the install.

Looks like they slapped a logo and fancy grill on some Ford OEM speakers. That is literally the same tweeter I pulled out of a Ford transit.

@chrishuyler35804 ай бұрын
@@blakebrockhaus347 did you though? At the same price point, JBL offers a crossover with a 0db/+2db setting, poly cone and rubber surround better suited for moist car door installs, and they still give you a decent looking grill. If the buyer does not intend to use the grill there are other options that put even more of the budget into performance and reliability still staying within $99 price point.
@blakebrockhaus3474 ай бұрын
@@chrishuyler3580 the long strand paper cone is moisture treated and is the same cone used in our pro audio line-up. It has substantially better off-axis performance as well as a much higher strength to weight ratio compared to polypropylene. Plastic is a poor choice for speaker cones, and is only used when better materials aren't in the budget. Another aspect is the motor. Most speakers in this price range use a similar sized motor that's y25-y30 ferrite. The E series uses y35 ferrite and very tight gap tolerances, which boosts the flux density to over 1 Tesla.

I’ve got some focal speakers in the same price range as well
@chrishuyler35804 ай бұрын
I would really love to see better head to head comparison videos of speakers. There are about a dozen $99 and under component sets available right now and although sound quality is somewhat subjective, measuring distortion, frequency response, SPL, and power handling is not. There are likely great bargains in this price range but without side by side testing, it's more about how things look on paper or polypropylene.
@HifiVega4 ай бұрын
@@chrishuyler3580 I would also love to see that kind of comparison with the technical specs, but it’s not really the kind of video I do. I will say that Drew Jones from Bassahaulic Productions has been doing that type of testing so you should check out his YT channel as well.
