I'm an American but I live in the UK. Every time I go back to the US I'm amazed at how expensive books are there. The place in this video has good deals, but even at Waterstones (the UK equivalent to B&N) books are half the price that they cost in the US.

I have my favourite authors and genres but I'm leaning towards discovering local and independent authors as I'm sure there is excellent talent out there who don't get a look-in on social media as they don't have a big publishing house behind them. I currently don't have a favourite bookshop that I can get to regularly, but I've known some good ones in the past - Sheffield Space Centre for sci-fi and fantasy, Bakewell Bookshop for natural history books, Peak Bookshop was an independent bookshop that opened in Chesterfield in the late 90's which was my favourite one for ages, but it sadly closed down about 15 years ago - that's one I miss the most because it went from a small shop into one which expanded and went on to several floors. My favourite city to go book shopping in though is Oxford because their Blackwells is the best I've seen for academic books and non fiction, which always seems to be an add on elsewhere. There is also a big market for second hand books there for all kinds - Booklover is my favourite of those if it's still there. I've found though that there isn't any one bookshop which is my absolute favourite one because it all depends on what the bookshop specializes in and if you're lucky, you can find ones that specialize in the types of books that you are interested in. Most don't, which can be frustrating.
