not matt slowly decending into being an architect. did you see how excited he was to put down an arch
@brigidtheirish Жыл бұрын
Actually, I see it as a very engineer thing. He realized that nice things to look at make happy citizens and happy citizens make a more efficient city. So he put up a nice thing to look at that's completely separate from every other function of the city. Compartmentalization is *very* engineer.
@erumaayuuki Жыл бұрын

0:57 there are plenty of examples of bridges/causeways that seemingly go over nothing... like a grass field and you might wonder why they do that... there are many reasons this could be the case.. like flooding... the region could be prone to rare flash floods... ie its a flood plain. if it doesnt happen often, it might look like a desert or a green field... maybe only once a year it floods.. but u dont want the road to be underwater.. then, there are regions that in tundra areas become boggy and marshy in warmer weather and are solid in winter.. it might be a wildlife migration route for protected species... there might be 2 bridges one needing to be higher, so maybe they thought.. just connect them both at the same height, having the road be more level in general.. this happens more with train tracks than roads... but lets say its a nation where it gets a lot of ice.. maybe a level road is better for fewer accidents? rather than a steep incline to the bridge.. the bridge might need to be high for specific tall ships to pass under.. im sure if you thought about it there are many reasons why this might exist...

The answer to title is yes. Single direction roads, each layer flips direction, single direction roads that connect the layers. Every single connection is either a split or a merge. The busses have two modes, 1) around each circle in a loop, 2) from the inner to the outer in a loop. Secondly, public transport everywhere, make it free. *No* *congestion* because there are no personal cars on the roads because nobody needs cars. Thirdly, put districts close to each other, make sure people can walk to the shops no matter where they live and most can walk to their work. I was able to get to a _million_ population back in 2015 or so. The only chokehold I had was the lack of a port. Also don't waste precious land area on power plants, use water based wind turbines. Just hundreds of wind turbines, if you cover a big enough area then you'll _always_ find wind.
