I would think large windows will lose heat? Why bother insulating the walls if the heat goes out thru window.

Yes, large windows leak more heat out compared to wood surfaces, especially insulated wood-covered surfaces. However, the total heat loss is lower when other walls are insulated. Thus consuming less energy. You can make even a tent sauna work if you have thermal power in abundance, but it's just about the whole thing together. This sauna would work without insulated walls for sure, but as said it still works more effectively when the walls are insulated.

Does it have a drain? How far from the top bench to the ceiling?

Yes, it does have a drain under the benches in the middle! I don't have that measurement here, but I will ask that and comment it tomorrow :)
