just ordered a set of i230s. Out of the i430s/i525s they were the best fit for me. This size of the head actually gives me confidence, and I'm a 15 HCP. mid handicappers, do yourself a favor and give these a try; you may be as pleasantly surprised as I was!

It was down to i230 and i59. I took the gamble on i59 and haven't regretted it. Only down side to i59 is cleaning the grooves during play. I had to upgrade my towel to a heavy duty microfiber towel which I wet before the round. Problem solved. Great job, Ping.

I play the i210, it’s a fantastic club. If the i230 is a better club, everyone should at least try it!

Hi Guys - Love the irons, a question to Marty. On the backside of the club where the badge fits in, why is there a tiny gap there on the heel side? Meaning why is that rear badge not sitting flush as it does on the toe side? Talking about the badge that essentially covers the elastomer? The reason I ask is, water/due/little debris can easily creep into that cavity? Will it have any long-term impact? Is it an oversight? Is there an engineering reason to do that?

@@CoolClubs Thanks for the help ... and if it's not clear I can send a pic highlighting the gap I'm referring to.

I have a set of i230 and the rear of the club is actually a plate, it moves slightly if you press it. As an engineer, (that means nothing really), I think it helps with sound and feel without the ball to jump off the face like in other makes of this type of construction. Basically, my opinion only, this club is actually a blade with a precise elastomer rear covered by the plate I've mentioned. It has a good peripheral weight distribution for good forgiveness and good consistency over the face.. I think ping have hit on something here, If the elastomer was tightly enclosed like other designs then the odd flyer or inconsistent hits would be a result due to compression. With this design, the elastomer is only doing the job it's intended to do resulting in consistent ball distance and flight.

Did I understand Marty right, these i230s are 17-4 vs 431 stainless of the i210?

No you did not hear him right they are 431

How would you rate the forgiveness of the Ping i230 vs the TM P790, Mizuno Pro 225 and Ping i525? I know these other 3 irons are players distance irons, but I am just talking about over all forgiveness now. Thanks!

I've played the 225's and hit the P790...the i230 dont have the fliers the 790 produces. The 225s are solid, but the i230 is more consistent with dispersion as well as distance.
