Is this the best PPC Mech? - Yet Another Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries Modded Episode 45

Welcome to Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries DLC "Call to Arms" playthrough. In this video I will show you the gameplay of a full missions as well as the MechLab where you customize your Battlemechs. Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game about stompy Mech action. You take command of a mercenary company and try to grow your income, salvage Mechs and hire Mechwarriors. The game includes a campaign with a vast storyline.
This DLC is all about Melee Mech Combat. With new Melee focused weapons like hatchets, axes and swords you can dominate the battlefield in close quarter combat. Apart from a bunch of new Mech Variants a new Mech joins the ranks of Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries: The Hatchetman. This 45 ton Medium Mech can cripple enemies with its Autocannon and Medium Lasers at range just to close in and take components with its Hatchet.
The gameplay is split in two different parts. On the one hand you will have to manage your resources, hire new crew members, outfit your Mechs and travel through the Inner Sphere star map. But the action starts as soon as you get into the cockpit of your Battlemech yourself to fulfill contracts on the battlefield to earn more C-Bills and progress the story. I will review the weapon systems, battlemechs, show you how to build the loadouts and train your pilots and take a look at all the different mission types and upgrades of the MW5 Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

You Gained negotiation points because your faction standing went up after the first mission. Laser Insulators ALSO count as a single heatsink as well as reducing laser heat generated in that location. The TC energy is better for a laser build than the TC heat.

Agree on the Arrow. Thats part of the risk of using that weapon and helps to balance out it's power.

It seems like the Arrow would be a great option on a mech YOU were piloting, and therefore could control when and where to deploy. It is a lot of commitment for a mech that you are planning on running in missions, so I can understand not wanting to do that. However, with the AI being what it is, you are going to get splash damage repair costs any time an AI ally pilot can choose to fire it. If you are willing to have a dedicated sniper style mech that you pull out as needed - it makes sense. On a regularly deployed mech that an AI will pilot, the value starts to fall off quickly. Maps can also significantly impact the value here... It's not a clear cut discussion, but discretion is key - it seems. Thanks Bara, for the play throughs - here and in Battletech/RT. Honestly I love PPC sniper boats... like Bara says, it's the power of big pinpoint. Remove components instead of worrying about triggering crits and possibly killing.

8Q awesome can install 4 ppc's in the side torsos, and dispite not being a hero is a insane head shot monster highly recommended just the bog standard 8Q for a ppc sniper.

One good way to save a slot is always put your heat bank mk 3 in the engine and put a clan double in the slots, rather than leaving a inner sphere double in the engine

I love how the RACs just shred through everything! Too bad theyre not in the base game, but i can see why xD In fact you should try go for a full RAC lance. You could literally destroy an entire great house with just those haha.

Given the use of clan tech, I reckon the AWS-8Q with its additional energy hard point would be a better option for a pure PPC boat awesome. With the use of small cockpit module to open a slot up on the head, you can bring 7 ER PPC (C) on the AWS-8Q vs the AWS-PB of 5 ER PPC (C). Heat will be a bigger problem with the 7 PPC setup however, but by setting the weapon group to fire in groups of 3/4/all (chain), I find using the AWS-8Q varient to be a manageable. I am even able to run it standard PPCs and 1 clan ppc for the head at the start when getting my hand of the AWS-8Q. Only thing I have yet to try is if running a TC adv. PPC or modular set of heat, ppc is better at keeping it cool

Custom build, a hundred-twenty tonne mech. Use five PPC cannon and a C3 Master Unit, And a flea or Aerospace Jet with the C3 Slave Unit.

When smashing a lot of structures, try 3rd person cam ;) I'd also suggest the Global Illumination Enhanced mod- improved lighting and weather

Adding a TC laser and clan erml on the marauder would make it better, also if u remove the small cockpit on it and add it to the pretty baby u can fit another erppc on the head slot + more Protos to make it work

Lol…that’s when you smash more…good ol Goat’s song, comes to mind, “Ain’t gonna drop no more” or my training does, they’d say messed up shit on the ranges and what not…you know standard dehumanizing the enemy type deal. It’s funny, but serious and messed up all at once. Like full metal jacket, “they’re women and children how can you shoot them? Easy, you don’t lead them as much” epic…but so messed up, for people general info, we have never done that really, as a whole. It is messed up, but part of the sick, dark humor we have from other things going down.

You can always renegotiate the points between missions. Allows selecting an airstrike if you have a demolition mission

I made the mistake of closing with an enemy yesterday and my Arrow IV lancemate dropped ordnance right on top of both of us. Lesson learned.

KGC-KJ is also a very good PPC mech, but there isn't enough room for 6 of them now unless you have clan PPCs thanks to arm actuators taking up so much room. It would be nice if YAML got a QoL update for Kaiju to take out the actuators like they did with Carapace.

There's an item that deletes lower actuators in YAML. Just gotta find it in the store 😅 Compact arm actuators or something?

Yup, the compact actuators. To be fair they do the job but they also utterly gut the arm twist rate and twist angle, -40% for the hand version and -30% for the arm version. Then again what can you really expect from quickscell?

Are the Engine HS on the AWS-PB Clan or IS HS and can u change them? That would also mean more cooling for your AWS.

Creators of this mod!!!! we need a custom 100-ton, Pretty Baby, just for Baradul !!! imagine an awesome specifically tooled to be a PPC boat with clan and Omni tech, the overcharged reactor with capacitors for the PPCs, Cooling lines wrapped around all the heatsinks to deal with the burst heat gen, and double armor plates just on the front. Like the same ethos, WW2 engineers did to the tanks with their field modifications. the extra 20 tons would be engine, cooling, armor, and reinforced structure to handle the workload stress. The larger, custom engine would not give added speed; it is simply needed to run the PPC / Capacitor power grid, and have the raw horsepower to handle the added load of the frontal armor. something like 2 PPCs per right/left torso and 1 in each arm, then something like double small lasers on the head or arms for self-defense.

There is a mod that brings the classic design to the game. Finding it is going to be hard tho. I so far am able to find one only (but it might be because in am still in per-clan invasion in terms of game year)

You really need to focus on building your pilot affinities. Constantly changing the mechs each pilot uses really hampers you in combat - mech mastery can make a serious impact.

No the AI are dumb in this game, even with mods. They clump on you/ themselves, face-hug enemies, or advance when you don't want them to. I've also seen them staring at an enemy, call it out and not fire until I tell them to.

It takes 6 tier 4 items to upgrade to ONE tier 5 item and it takes 5 tier 3 items to make a tier 4 and so on its not worth it unless you've got too many to use

The issue people have with the Arrow is seeing you spend an episode or two setting up a mech with a ton of equipment only for the Arrow Atlas to destroy that mech (or heavily cripple it) in the next few battles. Its like seeing someone upgrade their car for months only for it to get struck by a meteorite.

It really seems like the enemy AI doesn't know how to use Arrows and Long Toms properly (or they just won't if difficultly level is not >XXX). There was no reason that Atlas in the first mission should not have taken a shot. I really hope the modding community can improve the AI for both friendlies and enemies to use the expanded weapons more efficiently.

Arrow Atlas isn't of any benefit in AI piloting it. Losing high tier equipment which is clan tech which is extremely rare is devastating already plus the extreme high cost to repair and the time require to repair it... you could take the MAD II 4HP (100 ton)mech in a missile barrage boat 4 cLRM15s each torso which would do fairly same job as the arrow without the need of a bodyguard since clan LRMs can direct fire and won't do friendly damage. AND still put a pair cAC5 BFs cannons or cAC2BFs just for giggles. Also always have a LZR Vomit, MAD BARA (75ton) it provides 1 mech with out any ammo or cooling issues or requirements for long engagements. also RAC 2s ought to go on the WARHAMII (80ton) to carry 4 of them, and MADBARA2 (125ton) could hold 3 or more RAC 5s ammo & cooling better.
