@@josnerf1470 both are for sure great players, But I think Jdub this year has been more consistent on a night to night basis compared to AD, and statistically jdub is more efficient than brown at all 3 levels

Here's the case: 1) He's a lot bigger 2) The offensive production is similar 3) J-Dub is a plus defender whereas Kyrie is a defensive liability. Kyrie is a *better* Basketball Player™ but not necessarily a more *effective* one. You don't get extra points for degree of difficulty in basketball

@@michaelahurtthe production is not similar and kyrie objectively is an average defender,pessimistically he’s at worst a slight negative but if your optimistic about his defense then he’s above average. He’s not near dame or trae young on defense even though young has improved a bit. Kyrie is also a better scorer, better playmaker, has more variety of passes, and makes more advanced reads out of the pick and roll. Jdub is a nice but he’s not better than kyrie yet.

@@abtocool6350 He's not better than Kyrie. He's a better *second option* Kyrie gets hunted on defense the same way Steph does. Or Dame or Trae. He's small. It creates a weak point in your defense. It's damn near impossible to win a title with *two* defensive weak points, in particular two players who offer zero rim protection Also since so many #1 options are weak defenders themselves, having a plus defender like J-Dub who is incredibly disruptive in help and super duper switchable -- that is such a massive advantage in the playoffs. By production you mean points. Or more accurately shots since they score at the same rate. (Kyrie 122 off rating, Williams 123.) But that's the point. The ideal second option can flow between facilitator, spacer, cutter, weakside attacker and primary scorer. (Basically Manu or Kobe at 22) Their PnR production is the same (0.99 ppp on 5.7 Ky vs 1.01 on 6.3 J-Dub) though I agree that Kyrie is better at it for all the reasons you listed. And Kyrie is a better shooter but both are 48% on wide open threes. J-Dub actually has a slightly better passer rating though (6.3 to 5.6). Kyrie just isn't enough better on offense to justify the difference in defense. Especially once you consider how much better Williams is with rim pressure and attacking downhill. Kyrie is a great finisher but he's not a great rim pressure guy. Williams penetration stresses the defense and creates shots for his teammates, including the #1 option. For a second option that's more valuable than Kyrie's iso scoring (1.03 vs 0.93 on 2.5 times more volume)

⁠@@michaelahurtif you agree that kyrie is better then there’s no point, but you really underrate kyrie’s defense especially when he gives you more effort. He has great active hands even he gets switched on to bigger players his hands help him, he has good lateral quickness, and he’s ok at navigating screens depending on the angles he takes. He doesn’t really provide offball value though so I agree with that point but I just heavily disagree with you saying he’s a liability, I’ve only missed 2 mavs games this season and believe it or not there defensive rating gets worse when he’s off the floor.

He didn't. J-Dub is better. Better shooter, mid-range scorer, ball handler, passer, off ball defender, rim protector and decision maker. Jaylen gets out on the break more and has a post game. I'm curious, why exactly do you think Brown is better?
