I once heard someone describe this game more as a model ship maker than an actual game. Seeing all the ridiculously detailed default ships it's easy to see where they're coming from.

Tbh the best take away is staying low to the water. I build all my ships to skimming the surface, along with being thin, and concentrating armor on the cheeks. I can usually make out pretty well, given that I have a phobia of buildings over 25k.. I've also never beaten the game either.. so yeah

Y'know, real large ships don't turn with singular rudders. Some have additional control surfaces at the front to help, but a lot of them simply have sideways turbines at the front and back set into the hull which allow the entire ship to turn on the spot with powered movement rather than relying on forward momentum to turn their immense weight. I think this could use that.
@thathitmann828212 сағат бұрын
@@ultmateragnarok8376 oh, I know. This was funnier, though. 2500m turning radius.

For sure the 2.7km turning circle was funny but I think it's perhaps equally funny to see something so long manuver and perform like it's some sensible normal craft.

long ships that are deep in the water using some lead and buoyancy control so its just the turrets poking out could be cool. Now imagine that but as a sub and using particle cannons.

Lenght beam draft are all important factors in a ship To make a ship turn faster for the same size slower speed and larger beam help longer ship can have higher speed for the same beam
@thathitmann82828 күн бұрын
@miguelgameiro8063 normally, yes. A wider beam doesnt really work, though, when the point of the video is maximizing length-to-width ratio. Also, it's high draft and tiny freeboard make it really hard to hit, as you could see by a single high wave making a barrage of radar seekers completely loose lock-on while fighting the Redeemer.
@snowdrop98107 күн бұрын
@@thathitmann8282 tiny freeboard is bad. You want some freeboard so that target above water doesnt snipe all your turret caps instantly (your weakest points). However, a longship is good because.... boats are only good at being redundant. And long ships are best at being redundant. Can knock off 50% of a longship and it'll still be very much so functional. Cant say the same for most flyers or even most normal ships. A lot of flyers lose a ton of efficacy after just 15-20% dmg

Boats? Only good at being redundant? Fek’n w h a t ? Tell me you misunderstood the assignment!
@ornerylurker82967 күн бұрын
Honestly I think the biggest takeaway from this is what it means for the balance of structural design and armor mass. Specifically how this thing’s hull is paper thin and that still wasn’t enough to properly inconvenience it. While it might not be good at all, it’s far more efficient ton for ton.
@thathitmann82827 күн бұрын
@ornerylurker8296 i think it's more a lesson in redundancy. Having 7 AI, 48 guns, and 10 magazines meant that even when sitting dead in the water getting wailed on, it kept outputting a decent DPS.
@ornerylurker82964 күн бұрын
I can concede that point! Though looking closely it appeared that sheer volume/bulk played a major part in stunting the bite of those not-quite-doom-crams. At little thing like that, squeaking by the blast radius to avoid getting split in halves can go a long way. The entire ship is basically one giant torpedo bulge.

@dripwastaken78845 күн бұрын
Shape factor really depends on what specifically you want to fight. Thicker ships tend to be more tanky longer ships tend to be more redundant Also the cruicible is by far not the strongest craft in the game, its so bad for its price that it actually got removed in the alpha version. The current strongest craft is probably the pyre
@thathitmann82825 күн бұрын
@dripwastaken7884 Really? I've never had much issue with the Pyre. Obviously it's not easy (a 1.5 million material ship) but never enough to consider it the strongest. IMO the Redeemer, Crucible, Contingency, Impedance, Basking Shark, Anvil and Singularity are all harder than it. Pyre always struck me as overpriced.
@dripwastaken78845 күн бұрын
@@thathitmann8282The new SD craft should be way stronger than the pyre but currently i truely think its the strongest craft both per cost and overall. It can beat the singularity and the crucible in a 1v1 while being much cheaper than them.
@dripwastaken78845 күн бұрын
It 1v1 kills prettymuch any other craft that i can think of that isnt hyper specialised on taking out wedge spam frontsiders like the hypernova, and even that thing sometimes fails
@MrCatofdoom5 күн бұрын
This isn't even really mentioning you are using a 48mm advanced cannon. If you switched to 100-200mm the broadside would annihilate. You could even put in mixed shells adding emp, flame, ect.

Thinking a bit this is actually something you could do pretty easy. just reduce the amount of barrels on the cannons and you will get it.
