Oh Sarah! That was perfect how you started! Welcome to the Tori Holub and Jim Wilkas fan club. Tori’s magical voice and Jim is that magician that put this world wide effort together. I was introduced to Tori last October and it’s been mind blowing amazement since. Tori was invited to the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration this past April. One of 8 acts for an Acoustic Night concert. She was amazing as was everyone, a magical night. That was a Thursday night. On the last night, Saturday, she got to meet the surprise guest, Richard Carpenter. They knew each other from a little earlier but that was the first time in person. She has more songs including a couple of originals. Her first self written song is coming and the next Carpenters cover with Jim is “Close To You.” Hopefully soon. She has a bunch of short videos doing all sorts of covers including; Olivia, Joni, The Beatles and ❤. Hope you’ll be reacting to new ones soon. I’m so glad you enjoyed, the look on you face was priceless, but it’s been consistent. Tori has that effect on people familiar with Carpenters. Be well! Joe

Hi Sarah, If you’re ready I’m going to request another recent Tori song. This one has a story so I’ll write it here and put in the link. In Coffee I’ll refer to this post. In April Tori was one of 8 invited artists for the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration. I was an attendee so I saw Tori, live. She sang two songs that night, at the Acoustic Concert, held at the church Karen had her funeral and Richard married Mary. A lot of history at this venue. Tori was the only performer to sing a Non-Carpenters song. It was “Something In Your Eyes” and Richard C. and Cynthia Weil wrote it but Karen died before even hearing it. In 1987 Richard sang it with Dusty Springfield on lead vocal. It was for his solo album, Time. Dusty was great but it wasn’t what it was supposed to be. When I arrived at the church and was handed a program, I saw this song next to Tori’s name. I got chills. A few years ago teenager Tori was asked to sing this song. She made a short and introduced it as the song Karen never got to sing. More chills, she did it well. But it was a Short. Tonight she was going to sing the whole song. When it was her turn she stated with this song after introducing it. I recorded it with my iPhone and it’s on my channel. It wasn’t great as the sound was boomy and there was crowd noise, coughing etc. The official videographer did little better, the crowd noise and echos were there. As a side note. On the last night of the 4 night celebration, Richard Carpenter was the surprise guest. Tori did get to meet him, officially. They knew each other since late last year. So after the event was over and Tori went home. She wasn’t happy with the resulting video from the official 55th event. She went into her home studio and re-recorded it and using a clean piano track from the concert pianist, Drew Jansen. Made what some will consider the closest to a Carpenters version that we will ever get. She used video and pictures from the day. It’s not truly a sync to the event she did edit for that illusion. @@jbs256 , as you've pointed out, Tori has plans to release her own original music soon. I say the sooner the better. And while it may be novel for her and Jim W to keep making amazing re-creations of Carpenters classics, it may not be in Tori's longer-term best interests to keep putting herself/themselves in the position to be judged by even these well-meaning, benevolent reaction video folks and their viewers, as it furthers the myth that anyone can possibly live up to the expectations of being the second-coming/reincarntion/next huge thing to blow up the internet!

@@poldidak we’ve been considering a pull back. While some good has come from the reactions. It’s not getting the traction we envisioned. For every ‘Fil” there are many just regular views. Also, it’s just me and Ron with a few other scattered singles. Until Ron it was just me. Also her traction on IG and TT is massive compared to YT. People don’t seem to want full length songs. Yet some get the numbers.

That’s because she’s a different person. Every person is different, every time the same person sings the same notes, it’s different. What Tori has is a great voice that’s close to Karen’s tone and range. Tori skews higher Karen lower. Tori can sing THOSE songs and do them justice. Look at her channel and be amazed.

The record is indelibly burned into our brains. However, it is impossible that even Karen Carpenter performances were the exactly the same. The rooms may be configured differently, or there may be wind, or she may be 2 inches from the microphone instead of 4, etc. There is a reactor who isolates and shows electronic analyses of vocals, and shows that even if they sound identical, there are always differences.

That sounds way TOO much like her. I used to listen to the Carpenters all the time when I was young, over and over. It’s got to be a lip-sync. Even intonation and how she uses her voice. I’m not convinced. I would have to SEE AND HEAR her.

Totally wrong. It is spot on in perfect sync. Eduard2004 took away all doubt in his mashup videos. No Autotune, No Pitch Correction as proven in his analysis of this song and Tori’s voice by Wings of Pegasus. So try again.
