It's really great to see builders using the best of class in systems now. I'm sure Van Specialties is still using fiberglass insulation. jejeje

I don't have the money for your building service but I want to compete at the same quality level to build an express van for myself. Even with a high roof the express is more nimble, and has LS, and Duramax engines. I have my own designs that I've never seen anyone attempt on a van before. I had a G20 van as a child that my parents drove on family road trips. I think of it as a predecessor to the express. I don't see anyone doing a good job building express vans in ways that accentuate what they bring to the table. Only because I find myself struggling to find money I want to make my express also appeal to budget penny pinchers. It's something I think is more possible than we think. You never said how much this van costs and I'm pretty sure it's over $240,000 in this economy; And that's not the most it could be, that's just how much it was for this couple's unique tastes. Although no one would consider my budget truly budget let's be real here; Everything has a price, and everything isn't needed, nor unnecessary, so with all that being said my budget for a van that competes with a shred zeppelin, is $12-24,000 dollars. I'm pretty sure for that price I probably wouldn't even be able to afford an entire build from you guys. There's so many sub $10,000 dollar "budget" van build ideas on KZbin, but not only do they lack full features, but their quality is in question. My build already aims to be more fully featured than shred for less than $20,000 dollars but we'll see.

Great installation of the HD-24L! I really like what you did with the vents - they should distribute airflow across the area nicely. Side note specs on this unit are 11,500 k BTU and 20-33 amps @24 volts. Now back to serious stuff … send me a bill for the Shred Zeppelin tshirts!!! My staff wants them!❤❤

Good question and I’m sure if you contact Shane from his site then he will let you know
So this person knows what he's doing and has made his choice - I won't be able to change his mind. Hopefully anyone else watching this might listen - gray water does not contain urine, not even urine with "neutralizing enzymes". Any water with urine is BLACK WATER. Respect nature and respect the places kind enough to let you dump. Also, plants don't love soap in general so, and soap and urine disrupt ecosystems.

I see where you’re coming from but your statement also isn’t correct. I’m aware if we try and look up both ways then we can find arguments for both sides. The “tank standards” are made up standards by the RV industry. When it comes to disposal then there are a lot of facts listed by EPA what is allowed and not allowed. He’s following them in this van. Again, I do respect and understand your point as well

I'm so glad to see him again. It seems to have been awhile. He is incredibly artistic. I could not afford him for certain but I love seeing his stuff. I've always wondered with the vans that have things built directly behind the drivers seat, are you able to drive comfortably or are you forced to a straight back seat situation? No one ever covers that (or the inside of the fridge) lol am I the only one that is curious about those items?

So beautiful. I'm liking the colaboration. I like the attention to thermal insulation and congrats on designing a toilet. I'll def be looking into this. Could I get aluminium frames for the cupboards and drawers? I'm likely going to be parking in shade so can I get the sunroof panels to detach so I can put them in a sunny spot? Or would that be too heavy and hard to move. Also, could I get a contained locked enclosure for the bike cage? or is that too heavy and bulky? Is that a pull-out drawer on the floor of seated area? And one last question... I recently saw a British van with a pull out slide from the back end. He literally used one hand to pull out an inserted section from the back. That back end pull-out was nested within the back where the sink ends. It would give a lot more room inside when pulled out, especially with kids if it's raining and would give more room for flip down beds or those trunk beds that pull out. I don't know what that pull-out insert was made of but it was light weight to pull out easily. I thought that if any people could figure out how that Brit did it this team could. 🙏🏼 thanks so much for providing top notch solutions.

Here's one thing I've wondered about van life, Has anyone done a Slide out Solar Panel setup under the other one that's normally mounted?
@jordanhanson31611 күн бұрын
I’ve seen one on KZbin yeah
@JarrodTocciКүн бұрын
Yes there have been a few. Personally I don’t see the point. Here’s why: You’d have to wire it separately from the other panels that are static which isn’t hard, just more to do which also means more to fail down the road. Also, van roofs can fit roughly a single 400w panel (with fan and skylight. Can get more solar if removing one of those) and that’s plenty to run your things in a van during the day. With the technology nowadays using a 2nd alternator is more efficient. You can add a relay to auto start the van if your “house” batteries get too low. Actually I think Shane did that with this build
@jordanhanson316Күн бұрын
@@JarrodTocci true and a alternator is better for cloudy days and night if you run out. I have a massive 1200watts of solar and a 60a DC-DC. That’s more than adequate for everything. Plus you’d need a huge MPPT at 24v just to run it.

looks nice but way too much wasted space. I don't get people 1, using full depth 25" counters (you never ever.. ever use the back third of the counter other than to store crap.) and 2, having full depth counters on both sides of the van.. enormous waste of space, and no room to move especially with two people, heck, you can barely even get the cook top out. Any type of open shelving is completely and utterly useless in a van.. that moves. Those sofas with the low back pillows.. also super uncomfortable. A van needs to be function over form. You can also make function look nice.
@JarrodTocciКүн бұрын
The fridge they used (isotherm 200) requires a lot of room. Not just a large depth but the compressor needs room to vent without overheating. That’s the number one reason fridges burnout in non experienced builds
