Attention to detail in bilge and all of the work in the electrical world, and all of the other "small" things makes the brain relax in the middle of nowhere when it goes sideways! You guys know your boat. Happy to be carted along on your journey. Can't wait for first cruise! Just remember to slow down and enjoy it! Love your channel and the journey. Never lose faith!

It is a BOAT!!!!! It NEVER ENDS!!! but that is part of the "joy" isn't it?

A vibrating pad sander would probably do a better job on the flooring. You should cool the foam a little in the refrigerator before mixing so it will slow down the kick off.

I have flexiteak as well - I was told by the guy who installed it to use purple power detergent (Amazon or Home Depot I think) . I wet the deck then , the scrub the heck out of it with a stiff brush, not a boat brush but a super stiff on your hands and knees brush and let it sit for a few minutes, and have a small pressure washer (1GPM or 1.2 and max 1100 psi, but its dialed back to prob 400-500 from amazon it was like 80 bucks, it does the trick). We had an bunch of really baked on hydraulic oil and grease from the mechanics as well as foot traffic. It looks new- the 4000 I accidentally slug on the floor took 60 grit

I also damaged my hand by using an oscillating tool. The doctor told me it's the same type of injury that seen by people using jackhammers! There are anti-vibration gloves that supposed to help protect your hands from damage.

Also as you get older, tendon damage can happen when the stress/strain/vibration gets translated back to tendon and ligament attachment points

Hi Guys. The ring did not need to be cut off You can remove a ring like that by binding the finger with cotton, Check Sailing Catalpa when Bella got a ring stuck on her finger. Regards. David.
@SailingDauntless Жыл бұрын
Cutting it off was sadly the only option. We tried ALL the tricks and it only traumatized the finger more causing more swelling to the point where the ring was cutting into my finger.

5:39 you couldn't use the dental floss trick to get ring off or was it just to swollen?
@SailingDauntless Жыл бұрын
We did try the dental floss trick several times (among other tricks) and the end result was more trauma to the finger and more swelling to the point that the ring was beginning to cut into my finger...Oh well...lesson learned!

Can we back up a little please. Why are you needing to fill the bilge/keel with expanding gunk? Did I miss that day in class??

Think the foam was polyurethane, use the same in tunnelling sometimes to inject into rock to make less permeable. Water accelerates it, although there is enough moisture in air. 😁

Any doctor or jeweler has a ring cutter that's safe ,fast and does minimal damage to the ring where it can be soldiered back togeather.

I wish you wouldn’t have cut the ring there is a very easy way to get it off with dental floss or even thread. I’ve done it several times as an EMT
@SailingDauntless Жыл бұрын
Sadly it actually was the only option...we tired ALL the ticks some of them several times on different days... and the end result was more trauma to the finger. It was actually becoming a bit dangerous as the ring was beginning to cut into my finger.
