@@littletheatrefilms5825 it's never been problematic in an interview situation and only noticed it when turning it on, I believe you can also turn it down... I think also if you have the screen brightness turned down (as you would indoors) then it doesn't spin up. I also power it off v mount battery so that may help keep it cooler

Really nice, I ve got the 65mm amber flare (and the 28mm) Vazen with my komodo, and we shoot a lot of commercial/art portrait project with it. The flare on the 50 100 looks like a lot of my vazens. This zoom could defeninitly complete my kit, because there is not 100 mm amber flares in Vazen! thanks for the review!
@EdProsser9 ай бұрын
I still really need to check out the Vazens and the Proteus lenses! We're really spoilt for choice at the moment. Definitely check out the 50-100 it definitely speeds up the workflow having the zoom and not swapping primes.

I like the funky look, I have the Blazar Remus, but my favourites are the DZO anamorphic. But the price is prohibitive. But I am happy with my purchase. I have no Zoom lens at all. I just change them out, but I can see the application for zooms. I work very minimal, with no external display, use the magnify button to focus, and just hit the record button, shoot with only a lens, camera body, and a monopod. Basic basic, view image in compressed view.....

I'm testing the DZO Anamorphics at the moment they're very nice.

Have you got a speed booster on with the komodo?
@EdProsser9 ай бұрын
Not with these lenses unfortunately, they're super 35 lemses. The set I tested were also PL and have a protruding rear element. While technically you could speedboost them and get some fullframe coverage, not sure the mechanics would allow for it.
@cruisechill18139 ай бұрын
@@EdProsser i find the komodo is only usable in low light if ur at f1.4. Surely 2.9 is almost unusable even with post noise reduction
@EdProsser9 ай бұрын
@@cruisechill1813 I didn't use any noise reduction and it's usable in low light. You're not gonna have night vision, but you can still get clean low light footage from it. I usually expose and meter for ISO400 where possible. But I've gone up to ISO 1000 and still got nice clean footage.

yea the invasion of cheap anamorphic lenses while parallel more and more content is requested / framed in 9:16 aspect ratio. even final video is in wide screen it will be watched on tiny mobile screens by 80% of the audience. so unless you are shooting for cinema - its a dream coming true but the audience will not notice the difference (just the DOP with GAS is happy about it). crazy times
@EdProsser8 ай бұрын
Lots of small to mid tier projects can still be shot in anamorphic, not everything is destined for 9:16 and even if it is, if you're acquiring in high enough resolution, 6k+ you can still get 9:16 frames from your footage. Depends on the client / job! Also most mobile phones their horizontal screen resolution is widescreen / anamorphic friendly with a 2:1 ratio.
@JurajMelicherSK8 ай бұрын
@@EdProsser exactly this. We`ve also started turning the content for social 90 degrees to use all screen realestate. If anyone got interested, it`s easy to flip the phone.

Everyone has different tastes and that's the great thing about affordable kit today, it gives us all the choices we want to get the looks we need. Some projects simply can't justify the crazy vintage anamorphic look, or might not have the budgets to buy / rent them.
