Few Pros & Cons + Efficient + Impressive glide and speed on the bar + Great overall performance - You have to fit folding lines to be able to simulate collapses (extra cost) - Less forgiving, require more precise handling (especially in more challenging conditions and extreme situations, depends on the model) ... +- What would you add?

I heard folding lines are included or can be requested for free? So the "cost" is likely more time and effort vs monetary... One more pro I recently cosidered: The 2 liner isn't just "more dangerous to fly", at the same time it's also "safer to fly", so FLOWN CORRECTLY, it's not as easy as "more dangerous vs safer". I haven't made my mind up on it yet, but I'll definitely keep a very close eye on how that safety disparity develops with more experiences!

@@mcbrite Since folding lines (aka collapse lines) are not free to make, if they are "included" with the wing then the cost to produce them will be included in the price i.e. you will be paying extra for them. Since not everyone wants to pay extra for the folding lines, for their own various reasons, they are not generally included with the wing as standard. They are an optional extra, available for those who want and are happy to pay extra for them. For one example, the Photon does not include folding lines in the price; they are an optional extra - a different set for each size - currently costing 120 GBP. One suggestion I have to save pilots money is to share folding lines for the same model and size wing. However this only works well if they aren't wanting to use them at the same time, on the same SIV course, since it takes time to fit and remove them.

Descent techniques (getting down). Getting down on 2-liners is generally more demanding than 3-liners. Many 2-liners either don't do big ears or do them badly, with more instability and a higher risk of getting a cravat or knot in the lines. Many 2-liners can do the tip stalls (aka B3, B-ears, bunny ears) but not all of them. Some can't do either big ears or tip stalls. Some do tip stalls well whilst others are very physical, often with a very thin line, cutting into your hands. This is where the extra performance of 2-liners can turn into a negative: they want to go up more and are harder to get down.

I've been out testing more new wings and harnesses the past few days, including the Skywalk Mint and Niviuk Arrow. The skies have often been busy above our hills, with some very good pilots about, so had good opportunity for comparisons. If time and opportunity allow, I'll film and share some of my thoughts...

Collapse and instability behaviour. All paragliders can collapse, including 2-liners. 2-liners tend to be more collapse resistant but react more radically to collapses and give less warning. They also tend to require more precise input to recover, be less forgiving or wrong input, and have more chance of getting into an irrecoverable situation e.g. cravat or extremely high Gs meaning the pilot is unable to give corrective input or risks blacking out, so they have to through their reserve (if they can).

Folding lines (simulating collapses). EN C 2-liner paragliders used "folding lines" (aka "collapse lines") to pass their EN flight certification tests. To get EN C behaviour with EN C 2-liners when simulating collapses, you need to use folding lines. So for SIV you need to invest extra money and time to buy and fit these. This applies to all wings that used folding lines to pass certification.

High G-forces (spirals, auto-rotation). Generally with higher-performance wings, which are generally faster and have longer lines, the G-forces involved when spiralling are higher. This means higher discomfort (unless you enjoy the high Gs) and an increased risk of blacking out. This is why many 2-liner pilots choose to fly with a drag parachute, to reduce the G-forces when spiralling (or increase the descent rate with less G).

also high g forces damage the lines much more on 2 liners than 3 liners. i wont do any high manuvers on 2 liners because i dont want to pay for new lines and re-trim all the time

After+350 hours high en-b flying in alpine conditions and competition flying, which are quite challenging, the step up to the Mint was an amazing experience. I've flown the Photon and could make my first 200k closed triangle. Amazing wing on bar and in turbulent air. I flew the ArtikR 150k with a great speed average but honestly was a bit scared with it in leeside thermals. Then I tested the mint and fell in love with it. It was a very turbulent flight in the beginning. I felt safe, and confident. The performance loss vs Photon and ArtikR isn't that big, even in direct comparison side by side in the air. But it's stability surprised me deeply. (Which doesn't mean passive safety and no active piloting (!)) So I went for it and just flew 2 comp tasks with the mint in the meantime. Again in very turbulent conditions. Managed to get 2 surprise collapses which were not that big of a deal. IMHO some haters have an opinion with no basis of experience, a lot of them are against it out of principle and never even flown a 2 liner... My mentor told me that 3 liners in the past had a similar story. Something new generates always rejection in a certain group. Nevertheless, if you want to step up, get as much reliable information on how to correctly fly these machines and what to do in certain situations. And if you're not used to fly in for example the high mountain areas with demanding wind systems, you might not want to do it first with a wing like that and little experience on both aspects at the same time. 😉 Other than that, it's a leap in the correct direction and I'm pretty sure we will have en-b 2 liners in a few years

In our comps this year, Photos dominated, so all this musing about the different 2-liners is again rendered largely irrelevant. I don't see a noticeable difference in pilot demand between Delta 3 and Photon, but the gain in performance is amazing. Our Bonanzas and Artiks could not keep up with Photon's climb in weak conditions and its endless glide. Best 2-liner for long XCs so far based on stats.

Trimming (fewer lines to take the load). More performance-oriented wings tend to have fewer lines. This is one of the main reasons for 2-liners. However, fewer lines means more load on each line. This means the lines are more prone to going out of trim more or failing, over time and especially in high G situations e.g. spirals, auto-rotation, violent collapse recovery. More performance-oriented wings tend to require better care and more frequent servicing and retrimming, to ensure they fly and behave as they should. especially 2-liners. To compensate for the fewer the lines, the 2-liners tend to be thicker, slightly reducing the performance advantage over wings with more lines.

Yeah this is the conundrum. I've got a nice Gin Camino. It's fast and very talkative (being lightweight) and in the end moving to a 2 liner is probably just to wring a bit more speed, look cool in the air and be more sexy. At the expense maybe of some playfulness. I don't really need the speed so It's just wanting the latest and greatest and that sexy wave leading edge. Maybe I'll wait until 2nd gen because the Camino has only done 50 hours and I'm sure resale value has gone through the floor for enC 3 liners... The fact that I want the B3 rather than the Niviuk (which at first blush looks to be the pick of them) tells me a lot about my motives lol. Possibly the Bonanza 3 is more solid? Anyway, I'm sure a lot of people will be buying them, maybe just because it's trendy so thank you so much for your impartial and enlightening vid! Heading into winter here in New Zealand so there's plenty of time to decide I guess... Which (at the risk of going on) is great! Here we get to see the newly released stuff being flown in the northern hemisphere for 6 months and make a more informed decision before our XC season. Thanks again Carlos.

If you mean do I like 3-liner or 2-liner EN C wings more, then the answer is I don't personally like either more per se. As I explained in brief in this video, for me each 'class' has it's pros and cons. Having said this, having done the whole XC league and competition thing extensively and intensively years ago, for me the most important nowadays is the fun factor. I'm not really interested in trying to impress anyone (any more). So the wings that are 'winning' for me personally are the ones that make me smile the most - for general flying and XC, currently the Sigma 11, Savage, Allegro and Maestro 1 and 2. However, an important point I want to make, when we advise pilots on which wing is best for them, as part of our Flybubble Match service, we prioritise their personal requirements and preferences, not ours. Every pilot has their own unique personal requirements and preferences, and so each will prefer different wings. It's often a mistake to decide on a wing (or other gear) because others like it.

If you're asking which of the EN C 2 liners I've flown so far I like most, I'm still testing all of them and getting to know them better. More reviews of these - and lots more - to follow, if and when spare time allows. If pushed to say which I like the most so far, currently the Artik R is winning: it's consistently given me the biggest smile factor. As a bonus, for me, the performance also seems to be right at the very top of the class, in every area. Look out for my following reviews of the Artik R, Bonanza 3, Mint, Scala 2 etc, in which I will probably also comment on each relative to the others I've flown so far, as I develop my opinion about all of them. As always our idea is to share our opinion with the freeflight community via the aim of making freeflight better and safer for all.
