I didn't even care about uni-vibe before I found your pedals and now I own a Frei, a Njord and am about to buy both this and the other super secret pedal 😂 Thanks for showing me the sheer joy of uni-vibe sounds.
@FjordFuzz12 күн бұрын
Haha thanks so much, that's super nice! I love the vibe, especially as a kind of ever-evolving EQ/boost pedal, if you get what I mean... One thing is the throb and the swirl, but the way it sort of just takes a fuzz and churns it and squeezes it and flips it around and around and around is the thing I love the absolute most about it!
@Talisk3r11 күн бұрын
Same here... And of course you end up with more traditional univibe the complete. Fjord fuzz is responsible for a big part of my gear budget lately. And I have to check that Njord too.

@@Talisk3r Dude it is so funny looking at my pedal collection. I've got a pedal or two from lots of different brands, some brands I've got 4 or 5 of. Then Fjord Fuzz I have like 10 😂. You're completely right with optical. None of us plays like Jimmy. Most UV are very difficult to use because the effect is too much. Btw optical is very good for tremolo. I think tremolo is too often underrated. A good versatile tremolo could replace any modulation pedal...
@FjordFuzz11 күн бұрын
I do love the over-the-top Uni-Vibe stuff too though, but I’m noticing even in my own very loud free psych ensemble it can get too crass and strenuous, so this should likely alleviate that. Still retains all of that chewy mid shifting that I’m really after though. I like tremolos too! I have an idea for a parallel processed MS-20 high pass and low pass filter with the uni-vibe LFO hitting them both at 180 degrees of phase shift for a sort of self-oscillating harmonic tremolo that I think would be just out of this world! Like a uni-vibe from the future!
@danielbarbieri819911 күн бұрын
@FjordFuzz Great idea 👍 Harmonic tremolos are wonderfull too. A pot to blend harmonic like and selectable sine/square/triangle waves could be nice. A tap tempo won't hurt neither 😉

@ haha thanks! Whenever I use something like a fuzz face or more recently a Zonk ii-style thing, the way I like to think of them is as sort of dynamics processors; as interfaces between the guitar and whatever else is going on. The cleaned up fuzz face tone is my clean tone. I turn it on at the beginning of a show and never turn it up. My overdrive is my guitar turned up until right before the attack is obliterated by the fuzz compression and then I use the full tilt fuzz tone as a legato, over compressed cello/viola-like tone for whenever that is needed, so the fuzz just has to be first, for this to work! There’s many reasons to do it other ways than this, but this has turned into how I do things and I wish I could go like 15 years back in time and know this stuff back when my music was even remotely relevant, haha!
@greenflamingoguitar275811 күн бұрын
@FjordFuzz thanks for sharing this thoughts! I can totally relate to that - my playing changed a lot when I got comfortable in the fuzz rabbit hole...

Is this going to be a limited release. Curious about your comment about a big box version. I dig the Leslie tone.
@FjordFuzz10 күн бұрын
It’s limited in terms of the specific feature set that this specific iteration offers, but I am leaning towards thinking it’s just about right the way that it is, so I think at most, the control panel design might change slightly, but I feel like the way that it is is already pretty great, so maybe no changes are necessary. The main question was really «should I keep it simple and offer a bigger more elaborate version or smash them together and raise the price?». I feel like I’ll go for two products instead of one, right now! Oh and about that: If you google «midnattssol» i think you’ll be able to find it!

right after I was asking if there would be a frei sequel thank you. It says this is a prototype are you planning a full release of this one in the regular style of fjord pedals with the gold white faceplate options or are you just releasing this version?
@FjordFuzz11 күн бұрын
Well, I haven’t decided on what FREI should be just yet. Should it be a simple entry-level vibe priced somewhat low and then maybe I could just leave all the fancy options for the MIDNATTSSOL, or should I just pack everything I can think of into FREI? I need to just sort of sit with it for a bit and then this eventually turns into the full release FREI. Right now I’m really leaning towards just keeping it this way and having a second bigger vibe pedal with all the extra stuff! Once it goes into full production it will certainly have good as an option, yes!
