For someone who has watched and followed UAAP since early 2000's I can say for sure that this is the best Ateneo team. Not necessarily the greatest but the best. I have seen them go toe to toe against the Korean national team and even beat a pro Australian team.

The Blue Eagles went 13-1 in 2011 and 12-2 in 2012. That team had a lot of future PBA stars: Ravena, Pessumal, Slaughter, Salva, Erram, Golla, Chua, and Tiongson. They also had then 10-time PBA Champion Coach Norman Black.

I dunno about "greatest", but to say that this team's discipline is truly remarkable would be an understatement. Watching them play is like watching South Korea or the late Ron Jacob's old NCC team. I'm a UP Maroon fan but I'd only bet against Ateneo if you give my Maroons a +15 and honestly I don't think it would be enough, Ateneo right now is simply that good.

For me, the 2002-2003 Blue Eagles is still the best ateneo team kung players ang pag-uusapan pero bcoz of the system installed by coach Tab ay siguro the current team can be considered as the most disciplined and well-coach team, kaya it reflects sa record nila ngayon but head to head..The 2002-2003 Ateneo champions still has the edge.

Difficult to really compare especially because of the coaching factor, too. However, when you say greatest ever, you'll have to include the NCAA era, such as the 1969-1970 team led by Francis Arnaiz, Joy Cleofas, Marte Samson, Luis Afable, Ricky Palou, Greggy Areneta, Frank Harn, or that of Stevie Watson, Chito Narvasa, Pons Valdez, Padim Israel, Louie Rabat, Fritz Gaston, how about that of Ed Ocampo, as well as, those of Moro Lorenzo, Baby Dalupan, Olsen Racela (currently FEU;s coach}, all the way to thar of Ambrosio Padilla! It really makes it so diffficult because for one, they're in different Eras, for another there's just so many, being the winningest, when you combine both the NCAA and UAAP Champiosnhips! One thing for sure though is that this current team is really outstanding due a number of factors! So, on the a 3-peat!!!

The big difference is Ange Kuame. He is lanky, tall and mobile. He is the anchor of Ateneo's interior defense making opponents hard to drive. Actually i really wana see how they fare importless. As a team i think they are probably the best but not infividually.

its really hard to compare, different era, different type of how games played before. one thing is for sure its the greatest disciplined team of uaap of all time, but the era of villanueva and tenorio or lasalle’s team of marc cardona and cortez will give this team a good match up.

We haven't seen them play in a tough and physical game compare to the greg era. They are too lucky they didn't reach the era where Calvin Abueva destroying ateneo physically and mentally in 2011 during PCCL. But for real they are great in a way that they are athletic and some are skillful but still, we'll never know if they can handle rough and tough games.

definitely yes, this team breezed through their opponents with relative ease unlike the 80's team of tenorio and fonacier who said themselves na hirap na hirap sila sa la salle. the 5 peat team of coach black was even better than the 80's ateneo team but were in no way as cold and efficient as this baldwin coached team.

They went 1-3 against lasalle sa seaon 79 with almost the same line up plus jeron teng and thomas torres, sargeant. They went toe-to-toe for 3 games against lasalle in s79 before being demolished sa game 2 sa finals.

Kapag tinanggal mo lahat ng imports sa UAAP teams this season, I highly doubt Ateneo can go 14-0. I can even say that UST and UP might even beat them twice in the eliminations. Moreover, If you think about it, Ateneo never had imports before as tall as Ikeh and Koume so if the other Ateneo teams had one, that would be a better comparison(except probably Slaughter's team).

FEU's Center is just 1-inch shorter than Ange. Alex Diakhite is the leading Center in the enter S83 yet he's shorter. Don't even give just one factor (height) to undermine others. Besides Ange is still a sophomore he'll do better. (Try mo icompare yung sophomore level na Greg sa now sophomore Ange. Who would be better?)

If we removed all the imports, 14-0 MIGHT not happen. BUT I don't think that UP and UST would defeat ADMU twice. UST was defeated while Ange was underperforming. UP would not be even be at #2 without Bright's presence inside the paint and his crucial FT's (I could even convert those close wins that UP had to loss if not for Bright).

Yes UST was defeated while Koume was underperforming, THAT was precisely the point. In fact UST lost by only 1. When Koume was himself, UST was defeated by double digits if I'm not mistaken. Koume will always be a deterrent for the opponent to score inside. Abando, Nonoy, Cansino, Subido and even Bataller can easily score in the paint WITHOUT Koume interfering. EASILY. UP doesn't rely much on Akhuetie to score and IMHO isn't a good defender either. He is a solid player no doubt, but given the kind of talent UP has right now, wing players can easily score inside when Koume is not there. Paras, Rivero, GDL brothers, Manzo and even JD Tungcab who was converted to a defender but is actually a potent scorer as seen in his stay with Adamson. Again I HIGHLY DOUBT Ateneo will make 14-0.

Bright, in your opinion, isn't dependable but his stats says otherwise (He's even in the top 5 race for the MVP). Those close wins against NU and ADU won't happen if not for Bright's presence, shots and FT's. Most of the ADMU players are great defenders too. Navarro, Mamuyac and Ravena can chasedown and deflect those transition plays. Round 2game against UP, ilang errant and weak passes and dribbles ang na intercept/steal nila SJ, Matt and Thirdy? Against UST R2 it wasn't just Ange who man the paint. Matthew Daves even made a highlight block on Chabi Yo. Ange Kouame might be the face of ADMU defense but it's the whole team that worked hard. Kung wala si Bright and Chabi Yo, sino sa tingin mo ang makakapigil sa ADMU offense? Who will stop Thirdy and match up Navarro's hangtime? I might give it to Abando. Kobe is known as a weak defender. Even Rivero was left into the dust when SJ crossovered and drove to the basket (and fished a foul on Ricci). ADMU made more assists na nandun pa si Bright, paano kung wala? UST and UP may be good offensively but NEITHER of them are near ADMU when it comes to team defense (not even close to the #2 defensive team FEU). Again, NEITHER UP NOR UST CAN DEFEAT ADMU TWICE.

NAH. Stats don't always paint the big picture. You can produce 20pts but can still be considered a "quiet" performance from a player. Haven't you noticed that UP can still make runs even when Bright is on the bench? I'd give Mamuyac the only player outside of Koume that has good defense one on one. Again, if you take away Koume the whole defensive system of Ateneo shifts and it creates a really big hole inside that any wing player from UP or UST can penetrate EASILY. E-A-S-I-L-Y. Whenever that happens, the defense clamps down and can again open other players to score especially the perimeter which Ateneo is SCARED OF. Makakapigil sa Ateneo offense? Simple, ANYBODY from UP or UST can go toe to toe against them. There is no such thing as hangtime for Navarro and Thirdy can be checked anytime. On the contrary, UST and UP have better offensive players. Ateneo relies on the system so it won't be difficult for a player to score. This is exactly the reason why Ravena had been reprimanded several times by coach Tab because he veers away from the system. This is something that coach Tab doesn't want to happen because it will expose Thirdy's weaknesseS. Again, I HIGHLY DOUBT Ateneo can make 14-0. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

But if you remove ADMU from the equation, other teams really are strong. Mahina pala ang UP (with all the "stars" that they have) ADU, NU, DLSU still had most of their players from last season. (Other teams weren't weak, but rather ADMU is just doing better. Thus, they aren't overrated)
