If every single one of those old buildings on 66 were resorted imagine all the jobs it would create!

Nah, I like them where they are.
@GlitteryDinosRAWRgoogleplus7 жыл бұрын

@Riceball017 жыл бұрын
But they would only be temp jobs though, once they're all restored the jobs go away. Maybe not all of them, but most of them, you'd only need a small staff to maintain the buildings. There would be no long term jobs since you really couldn't re-open all of those old motels and gas stations, they all went out of business for a reason and there's probably not enough local or tourist traffic to keep them in business.

I'm loving this trip down Route 66! I live on the east coast and haven't had the opportunity to drive it so I'm living vicariously through you. If you ever have the chance to visit the east coast, you have to go to Wildwood, New Jersey. That island is practically all retro architecture and has some awesome neon. It's even better when you visit during car show weekend with all the old cars to accompany the cute motels. You would love the Caribbean Motel.

Not only was it on Route66 but the Rock Island route merged with the Southern Pacific there where the Golden State passenger train came in and the Memphis to Tucumcari route came in on the east side of town which was abandon when they went bankrupt. Thanks for covering Justin. Be sure to stop at the café in Shamrock on the way through.

I went through Tucumcari on a Rt. 66 trip with a buddy back in '94. We stayed the night there, but I believe it was at a more modern chain motel. I can kick myself in the ass for not staying at the Swallow. We drove by it, but I guess I chickened out. Did stop in TeePee Curios, though. Anyway, the real lost opportunity was the fact that Lillian Redman was still alive and owned the Blue Swallow back then. I'm so disappointed in myself for not staying there and getting to meet her. Ugh!

:O Oscar! How you doin' buddy! That's so great to see both of your together! What a coincidence! LOL five THOUSAND dollars?! Did he say that?! Hahaha. Yes I noticed that! Someone is taking care of it, and that's honestly so touching to know. It's touching to know there are people out there who appreciate history and wish to preserve whatever's left. I think what I love the most is how people come up with these great ideas of turning old places into museums. That really keeps it alive and well :) You can check in anytime you want but you can NEVER LEEAVEEE I caught the reference! I caught it! Blue Swallow?! That's crazy!! I thought of that name for a fictional ship in my book! That's so crazy oh my gosh. Okay, definitely on my bucketlist!! That's so cool oh my goodness!! Okay, so it's both amotel and a museum given that they still have old fashioned stuff in it, along with the old fashion cars! Genius! The Blue Swallow motel people seem to be so cool! A+ service! I'm so glad you bumped into Oscar! You guys seemed to have a total blast!! Hope to see him in the next video, if not, looking forward to it either way!
