(cover of Adele, "When We Were Young" ... or of Calum Scott, "You Are the Reason" . A voice like polished mahogany ... in his own way, as good as CK (which means the best in the world) though not quite as intense. Has anyone else listened to Felix? Excellent reaction ... yet again! I'd completely missed the rhythmic dance that CK sets up between his voice and the orchestra. So glad that Andreas pointed it out. Also, really liked him using the Billie Eilish clip to illustrate the breathy-soft-but-full tone quality that CK brings into his head voice. On the other hand, I found the clip of Chris Stapleton's guitar fret squeaks to be a bit jarring - that didn't work for me. But other than that, the reaction really enhanced my appreciation of CKs performance. Thank you, Andreas, for all the hard work you put into this.

And I agree, Chris Stapelton's fret squeaks are a bit jarring on that recording, but it was really hard to find something where you hear them well and they are not a bit too much. What I wanted to say with it is that CK makes his breath audible and uses it as a part of the sound he creates like some guitar players include fret squeaks whereas others avoid them in their playing.

If you do it the right way, like he does, what is causing that distortion are vibrations of the false vocal folds, the epiglottis or the arytenoids. Then won't stress the voice that much.
