I have one of these. Bought it back in 2005 brand new with a Peavey JSX 412 cab for a great price during a boxing week clearance event. It’s a solid amp and was my workhorse for many years.

Thanks for this video. What an intetesting and great sounding obscure ol Peavey amp. Had never heard of and just got a 1989 Triumph 120. This old tank is amazing, 4 6L6s, 5 preamp tubes, scorpion speaker, 3 channels. Holy moly, it cooks. The guys doing the Bandit videos nail it. Each one of those, right up to the newest Chinese one, are simply amazing for affordable solid state amps.

I couldn’t agree more! I’d love to get my hands on a Triumph.

They remind me a lot of those unique amps that had fx’s or Dsp’s in their names. Most were really undesirable due to the stigma that they were known to be cheap but some were really good sounding for their time !! I own a crate GT200DSP that has the built in effects and not a lot of people talk about it as much. The fact that it has a tube preamp and a DSP section it truly is a shame that it doesn’t get the love it deserves. Also nice vid about the amp, I learned something new today !!

I need to explore the world of crate amps. I think I never gave them a chance because they were looked down on. I’m gonna change that!
@peepkindoesstuff4066Ай бұрын
@ of course, I’ve collected over 20 different crate heads and multiple different combos and with a good cab, they become monsters !! Favorite series from their 93’s catalog is the stealth and GT series. The stealth is a jcm800 in sheep’s clothes and if you get one for a killer price, they are gems. Same goes for their other series like the GX, G-XL, BV, SHOCKWAVE, GT, STEALTH, TIDALWAVE, V, VC, EXCALIBUR, ETC !! I’ve gotten a lot of knowledge when it comes to their SLM stuff so if you need help finding info for crate, I got your back man 🤝

I have been playing solid sate amps since 1992. I have a Crate G130CXL and GX130C. Each head runs into a 4x12 cab. One with Peavey Scorpion speakers and the other with Celestion V30's and G12T75's. I run the amps clean and use a Digitech GSP21 Legend. Been using that since 1992 when I was 20 years old and didn't have the cash at the time to buy valve when some of my gear was stolen out of a truck after a gig. People give solid state a bad rap but if you use the right gear and some good speakers, the audience can't tell the difference. I have owned some peavey gear over the years and it is very good. Wish I would have kept some of it.

I'm with you there on the solid state amps! They get a bad rap but they can sound amazing and be much more reliable.

I have the 112 EFX combo which is very similar. I got a great deal on it and considered flipping it, but was surprised how good it was. I use it all the time. The stock speaker was crappy so I upgraded it. I also have a 258 EFX, it's a great tiny amp. There was a 100 EFX head for sale a few years ago at a music store near me, I almost bought it.

I don’t follow the availability of amps, but I would’ve guessed The Wiggy would be all but extinct now days. Peavey only made around a 1000 of them. I remember playing one when they first come out, and I never had the desire to play one again.

WRONG!! TRANSFEX BUD..... ITS THE HARDEST AMP TO FIND IN WORKING CONDITION AND BLOWS THAT THING AWAY. 260 watt stereo power. Caps was on. I have a few and 3 artist cards new in original packaging and 3 pfc10 pedal boards. It was peaveys first modeling amp but didn't model cabs but the artists. You still have a cool gem though.
