Is This the PERFECT Daily Driver?! // Audi S3 Review

The Audi S3 is a delightful little car. It looks far better than the BMW 2 series and Mercedes A class, with its most direct competitor being the Mercedes A35 in power and performance. At $56k, the Audi S3 isn't cheap, but in this review of the Audi S3, I attempt to convince my wife that the Audi S3 would make the perfect daily drive for our family. The S3 has just enough space to be useful, and it's got plenty of power and performance along with the security of Quattro all-wheel drive--not to mention it looks fantastic in Turbo Blue. You'll have to watch until the end to see if I'm able to convince my wife that the Audi S3 is the best all-around car for our family, or at least me, but she was quite taken with it as well. I’ve been daily driving a 2015 S3 since it was new. It has 101,000 miles on it and I’ve not had any problems with it. It’s quick enough to be fun when I wanna be rowdy, but it’s a sleeper, too. Back seats are a little small for adults, but for smaller kids, it’s fine for trips around town. I drove it to Vegas from Memphis in 2020 and it was right at home cruising at 95+ through the desert. It’s a great daily. I’d love an RS3, but at that price point, I’d rather have a CT4 V Blackwing for the same money.

I bought a 2022 S3 in October of 2021. It is my daily driver. I love it. I have been fortunate enough to have owned a few nice cars in the past, but my S3 (we call her "D") is my favorite. I even like "D" more than our new additing, "R" (2023 20th anniversay edition Golf R). I don't think there are too many people that would drive this car and not love it.

Interesting view of the Audi S3. One of the Comments from below mentioned having 2015 Audi S3. Back in 2015, I bought a 2016 VW Golf R (6-speed manual) and one of the cars I took for a demo drive was a 2016 Audi S3. I chose the 2016 Golf R largely for the, to me, increased fun factor. About a month ago an apparently distracted GMC Yukon tried to enter my passenger door with her front grill. The cabin held up in the low-speed crash, but my insurance company totaled my 2016 VW Golf R. I intended to buy a 2024 Golf R but refused to pay the crazy $15,000 markup that I found at VW dealers in both Southern and Northern California. I drove a year-end sale 2023 Audi S3 and a couple hours later I bought it (a fairly option-loaded Premium Plus model with with a quite lovely year-end discount to boot!) A VW dealer a couple blocks away had a 2023 VW Golf R and he was asking $15,000 over list for that car!! A month later, I find the 2023 Audi S3 to be significantly more fun than I recall in the 2016 Audi S3. In fact I think it's at least as much fun as my 2016 VW Golf R, but with a far better suspension (thanks to adaptive dampers) and a much nicer interior (in my opinion). I'm a happy camper and my wife loves it (she also drives an SUV). Now, if I could just keep her away from the Audi S3 keyfob....🙂

I looked into a New RS5 back in 2020, I got treated like crap @ 3 different Audi dealerships. Audi Manhattan didn’t call me back after i actually stepped into there showroom with a inquiry about the vehicle. Audi of Huntington told me “we don’t test drive these cars” 3 seconds into me telling the salesman what i wanted to look at that afternoon… mind you they had one in stock with a 84k price tag. and Audi of upper saddle river was just as bad… sadly them judging a book by its cover lead me to Lexus where i picked up a LC500 with a excellent purchasing experience from Stoler Lexus of Farmingdale Best thing that ever happened I refuse to look at a Audi Product after that experience.

Great review you guys had fun👍🏻 I don’t know…same money gets you a Genesis G70 3.3 Prestige. I guess it’s worth $56k but I remember being shocked when I tested a S5 and figured too much $ so I’d get an S4….ouch $ I keep thinking $56k and so small but they make a great product. I ordered a A5 coupe coming out of the pandemic and cancelled it in a week after they confirmed it should be here in 11 months 🤪 Got a BMW 430ix coupe that I traded with all its electrical gremlins after 7 months 😢 Ended up in a GV70 3.5t after all that…I thinks that’s one you favor. 😁 Same price for GV70 3.5t Advanced as the S3 🫣. “Hey Meg….”

Yeah, there are definitely options at that price. To be honest, I do really enjoy the Genesis G70 for around that price, but... I might plunk down my own money on the Lexus IS 500 if I had to choose. That NA V8 is just too good to pass up right now, and it would be awesome to own a copy before it disappears forever.

Hahaha! Are you Megan's long lost brother or something? I feel like we've had this conversation. Big, big fan of the IS 500 for SURE, and if I were spending my own actual money, it would probably go towards something like that. (I was raised WAY too middle class to throw money away on short term ownership.) For Megan, we're awaiting the new Lexus GX reveal, which might be the PERFECT all around SUV for us... and I will be at the reveal to bring it to you ASAP!
