People are sleeping on Cort basses. I have the JJ64 and it's an unbelievable instrument.
@garethjones39792 ай бұрын
That's a really nice bass. Cort are on fire at the moment, I've got a B5 Element with the MarkBass eq and it plays and sounds great. The Hipshot Ultralights make a big difference in avoiding neck dive, and I'm using the Cort more than my Warwick without feeling short changed for tone or playability.

Cort basses are solid. They are the brand I suggest to starters, for seasoned stage performers, and when dialed it, can be used for sessions. Those who know never say anything bad about Cort Basses. I have had several, sold several, and at times regret selling some as I have had a few that have had an irreplaceable timbre. Love Cort.

And those who do, probably have a bass build by Cort from another Brand anyway. They make great instruments. Thats why there are other "manufacturers" with the same quality at that price point. Because they come out of the same Building.

@@armignac yes. all $700+ made in indonesia guitars and basses in the world like ibanez, lakland, sterling, are made by cort factory.

I have and absolutely love the 4 string version of this bass, but I went ham on modding mine with Nordstrand Poly Vox multicoils and two Underhill preamps combined into one(Cali Classic with "pick attack" filter preamp plus the Paradactyl 2 band parametric preamp), with the 24 Volt battery mod. It's more of a monster now.

Great video as usual. I think it would be great if you guys got someone who played heavier music to really test out that B string though. Generally the 5 string reviews are just 4 string reviews but theres a 20 second clip of "lets hear the B string" lol

I'd totally volunteer to do it, but I live in the middle of Kenya. I play quite heavy, proggy stuff, with a touch of Billy Sheehan.

Nice looking bass overall! I had a Curbow model in the early 2000's. It was the wrong bass for the music I was playing at the time but it was a solid bass.

I'm happy that Cort is going upscale and doing more with their models, but in my opinion they went a bit too far. People still associate the name Cort with beginner basses, so people aren't that ready to spend Fender or Musicman money for one

Cort basses are just top notch! 👌 I play mainly on the NJS-basses, this one is on my wishlist, but 24 frets would be nice or a fretless version of the 4-string… 😌

Interesting. I do think this particular bass sounds anemic from Cort. The pickups in combination with paulownia and perhaps even the roasted neck wood? Don't know but the end product sounds poor when it comes to the lower mids etc.

It's beautiful looking and sounding! A string through design would have been dope, though. I guess I'll have to sell a couple of basses to pick this thing up.
@joannalewis52792 ай бұрын
I have the 4 string.tone wise the low end is very impressive but the mids are a bit weak and the highs are not sweet active or passive. To get a lot of top end to need to go active. I need to check if the nut needs filing because it's got nearly unplayable string stiffness. It a tech can make it playable I'll keep it and it'll work well for supportive playing but I doubt I'll be doing pyrotechnics on it due to tonal limitations.

Very nice indeed! My only gripe, and this is just my personal taste, roasted maple necks look a lot better with light-colored inlays and binding, I've never dug the look of black ones on roasted maple. But again, that's just me.

This instrument really is a banger for the price. I've been in the market for a jazz bass 5er and this might be the one. The looks alone are FIRE, but the specs are great, and the Nords are a good choice.

@@basstheworldofficial Thanks for reply... Don't sure... I have Cort SCMS Artisan and most fragile part here is not around pickups, but around pots. It's really thin wood here and any hit to the pot might break it. So if they care about damange of wood, they have to set pickguard over tone block.

Corr people know a couple of things about instrument manufacturing, it’s no surprise that this is a good bass. Surprised to see many non cort parts on this one
@milkovic072 ай бұрын
having a lightweight bass means nothing when the bass neck dives like crazy. they all use steel/carbon rods for neck stability but those make the basses crazy neck heavy. 5 piece necks are a lot better solution because they are lighter and still eliminate dead spots. Also those licensed tuners are not lightweight at all, they clock at about 60 grams a piece which is far from the lightest tuners available. Sandberg tuners and gotoh gb350 are 40 grams. Thats a 100 gram difference for 5 tuners and reducing a 100 grams at the headstock is more than saving 500 at the body. It's a good bass for the money but I'm just warning you if you plan to use this to ease your shoulder pain: Not gonna happen.
