They have a good craftsman thatcher to add to the charm of the old cottages. Thank you for sharing your walk and pictures.

I couldn't agree more! The craftsmanship of the thatcher adds a special touch to the charm of the cottages. Thanks for joining the walk and enjoying the pictures.

I had the chance of taking up thatching because my brother in law owns a thatch business with his best mate in Oxfordshire but because I'm terrified of heights i couldn't do it sadly..

They even look more spectacular in the summer when all the flowers are in bloom but I've never heard of this small village even though im 45 mins away

When I was researching which villages to visit this year, I’d only seen photos of it in summer and yes it looks stunning. Thanks for watching and commenting.

many of these houses look like straight out of a disney fairytale or something.

There beautiful aren't they, I may go back in the summer when all the gardens are in bloom and film another video there. When I was researching the village before I went, there were only really photos of the village in bloom, and it looks even more stunning. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

Are these houses Georgeain, Victorian & Edwardian?
@walkingwithpics11 ай бұрын
Hi thanks for watching, the houses date a lot earlier than the periods you mentioned , the village would have been around in the medieval period or middle ages as it's also known which spanned roughly a 1000yrs ending somewhere in the region of 1400 / 1450 (15th century) then the Tudor Era, which lasted from 1485 until 1603 (17th century) the church and castle dates around mid 12th century so its medieval period , a lot of the cottages were built around the 16/17th century so Tudor era. The Georgian era was from 1714-1803 ( All approximate dates, i'm not a historian by any means, I just enjoy walking and photographing old villages )

I KNOW THAT NAME, FROM SOMEWHERE, PROBABLY FROM ROMANTIC 19TH CENTURY LITERATURE ? ON A DULL WINTER MORNING, IT SURE LOOK'S ERIE. AND WITH THOSE TINY WINDOWS, THEY MUST HAVE THE LIGHTS ON ALL DAY .
@walkingwithpics10 ай бұрын
A few of the houses did have lights on, so yeah must be a little dark inside some of them. I had only seen photos of the village in sort of spring/summer time when the residents gardens are in bloom with picturesque blue skies, but personally I think the village looks lovely at any time of the year, it just gives off a different vibe in different seasons. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

Hopefully not, but I've been to quite a few villages since I started this channel and they've been completely ruined with newer architecture etc, the character and heritage of the village is lost and will never be regained, beautiful old thatched cottages surrounded and over powered by more modern monstrosities, i know we have to move with the times and provide new homes, business's and infrastructure to keep up.......leaves me feeling sad , angry or both at times, anyways, thank you for watching and posting a comment.
