@ 8.07 left of Trev's head. Back in 1967, camped a week with a workmate. Seeing one croc over the week. Walked the old crossing in foot of water. Just a coarse rock crossing, was interesting watching loaded cattle road trains, negotiating the coarse loose rock crossing. High tide, river backed up with little difference in water height variations. Just police station and John Fairweather's pub. Ah, memories of my days being a 17yo.

The yankee bull catchers, working west of the river, thought they were in the wild west. On their way back to camp from Darwin, drunk as skunks crossed the river, then with guns blazing roar off into the sunset. Yeah, it was a long way across, bare footed picking each step, as rocks were slippery and sharp. Realised aftwards how foolish it was. Hey, only young once. Climbed about the old copper mine digging, nearby remember seeing signs with mileage to Darwin via Litchfield. Coming back from Adelaide River, just on sundown, this long 3-4"pipe looking thing stretched across the road. Pulling up mate, asking me to move it off the road. Realised was a python, unable to see head or tail. It just wouldn't move, so he carefully drove over it. Didn't move or appear hurt, as their ribb cage compresses. John, the next day, reckons were common in that area. Remarkable place with fond memories, just some of many of my 17years in the territory.

What fabulous photos Justin of this fabulous Daly River country .Awesome drone footage . Having lived in Darwin 1970/1972 we did many a camping trip to the Daly fishing from the banks and the causeway over the river . Seeing huge pythons , crocs and huge wedge tail eagles . Meeting the peoples at the Day River Mission who lived in beautiful white buildings next to the beautiful white church . Have been back since , although some years ago in 2010 and it’s all changed with the Church sadly in disrepair but what a great burger we had at the Daly River Inn .
