I went to Dennys in glasgow a few years ago, We walked in and were met by a waitress who told us it would be a 45min wait for food, I looked around and only spotted 2 other customers in the restaurant I kid you not! I asked why it was a 45 min wait she said they were really busy😂 I just laughed and walked out and never went back, it closed not long after❤

I had Denny's at Royal Palm Beach, Florida where my relatives live. I wouldn't touch their bacon. When I stayed with my mother and had power outage. I bought the Denny Breakfast of sausage, scrambled egg, hash browns bacon. The best thing was the hash browns as the rest tasted rank.

My concern about these places is - who are they hiring to cook and why are they letting this happen. If you look at Weatherspoons as an example then you'll see how they operate a chain that still offers edible, cheap and decent looking food. Do Dennies staff and management put the blame on the ingredients they're cooking with or do they point fingers at inexperienced cooks?

Hey Greeno, I've eaten at this Denny's, we had to wait about 20/25 minutes for 2 burgers & fries. Never waited that long in the US. That sandwich was nothing like sandwiches I've had in the States, it was a bog standard English sandwich regarding bread and filling. Great vlogs

Denny is most famous in the US for its lousy food. They're usually positioned next to a cheap hotel, like a Motel 6. Its a shame the UK seems to get stuck with our worst restaurants. We do have a lot of wonderful places to eat.

I worked 1 shift at a Denny's back in the 80s. The food then was no better than mid-level even for diners. It was, however, generally ... ok. As long as you stuck to basic preps. Order the cheeseburger, not the Hawaiian cheeseburger. Like that. Now mind. I NEVER knew Denny's as an "upscale" anything. They were usually open 24 hours, and their busiest shift was bar closing time, between 1am and 3am. Uni students would go there to drink coffee and study all night, and eat some french fries maybe. And the after-bar crowd. A breakfast rush was their secondary strong point, and then brand familiarity would attract travellers, so most of the sites were at freeway offramps. That would help a ton with their lunch and dinner hours. I worked, as I say, 1 shift. I never even went back for my paycheck. It was a long and exhausting 11pm to 7am deal, but what really killed me was this sink right inside one of the employee access doors into the kitchen. It was full of grey, polluted-looking water, and it had a bunch of mops sticking up out of it. It was a really large sink, for utility purposes rather than any standard household size. It was completely full, and I have never smelled anything worse in my life. Like I say, I never went back. Ever. To any Denny's. And I never will. There used to be LOTS more of them about, but now they buy the absolute lowest-level industrial food from the standard restaurant suppliers - just a few notches above prison catering. It's abominable.

As an avid fan of Yourself, Gary and Beard my thoughts on one thing. Many places will actually Cook the food onsite from fresh.But also we have these and similar places where it arrives from a Factory all Vacuum packed from goodness knows where and is just reassembled and heated up.

We have a Dennys in Christchurch, New Zealand. We took our boys there 25 years ago, and have never been back! Looks like their standards are constant around the world at least. HaHa. Love your work Greeno, always fun to watch.

Hi Greeno, I tried Denny's when I was living in the US. It was the worst diner food I ever had. Some of the independent diners offered up much better food. Everything you had there looked poor. Artery clogging muck which isn't worth it as a treat & certainly not for the price. Would be surprised if this place keeps it's doors open for long. I hope you have some better meals & nicer cuisines coming up on the channel. It's really annoying when you're paying for a meal & it's practically inedible. I'm sorry it was prettty crap. I remember one in Northern Virginia that was a real standout, but buggered if I'd remember the name now. 😅 Not every restaurant is going to be Michelin star, but nowhere should be serving up food that looks & tastes like that. Quite shameful really. I'm sorry you spent the time travelling & the money for such a poor meal.

Had Denny's breakfasts during a 2 week visit in Vancouver around 1985. As a youngster it seemed strange kind of breakfast plate very different to what you would get in Australia/Europe of those days. I think they served it on a plastic plate with a few different sized sections. Due to viewing it as different and very good value I did not mind it so much. Never been back though despite numerous North American visits since. What you got was similar to what I had back then, but very greasy and anything but good value. Your review reaffirmed my intuitive view to stay away from it for decades after trying it (LOL - thanks).

Prior to my return to the UK in 2019, I lived most of my life in the US. I do remember how awful the coffee was at Denny's. Last time I was in one (Houston), the waitress greeted us by complaining about how awful the prior table was. I looked at my husband, and said I didn't want to stay. He agreed, so we left prior to placing our order. The waitress was gobsmacked.

You were correct about one thing, Denny’s is famous in the United States, but it’s famous for all the wrong reasons. It’s famous for poor quality food. Their prices may be lower lower than most, but that’s because the food is such a low quality.

Well Greeno the cost of that crap was robbery. I reckon the butter wasn't butter because it should have melted a bit. Unless the pancakes were just cold. Dennys here in the states used to be the go to breakfast spot with great food/prices. It has fallen to the wayside here too. We have a chain called IHOP with great breakfasts but high prices. Nice vid.

We go to IHOP at least once everytime we go to Florida, can't fault them. Went to Denny's back in 1997, really bad meal,horrible & not been back since. This Denny's in Swansea is only 40 miles away from where I live & if we go to Swansea, we avoid it like the plague too, just like the 1 on International Drive in Orlando.

My theory on these scooped out fries is that they should cook more quickly and evenly since they’ll have less of a deep middle, more surface area and therefore should be nice and crispy. What hope is there when Denny’s clearly can’t even get that bit right?

OMG. This is why I detest hash browns BTW. The two times I've had them by accident they've been oily and wet just like these. Now I instinctively always ask if hash browns are included, and then delete them.

Spending a couple of years in Fort Sill Oklahoma, my US colleagues used to have a Sunday Brunch in Denny's, so good that I missed the bacon grills from the British Army ration pack, the food was dire, and the service made the NAFFI look good.

Gordon Ramsay is right when he says never trust a place with a huge menu, that one looked like an encyclopaedia. Those pancakes looked like the ones Asda used to do, a plastic box with 4 in for about a quid, and they were bloody awful as well

You are right! Far superior! Not all Dennys are the same. I am frankly surprised they opened a branch in the UK it's not even authentic. It is giving the brand a bad name! 😢

The diner looked really nice and spacious. The menu looked impressive. But that was typical canteen food. Mediocre quality and overpriced. If it's tasteless then it's not fresh. It's such a shame but as you said with the coffee, these fast food restaurants don't keep up with the times and people's expectations have changed. No wonder the place was practically empty.

Hi mate, I live in Swansea and I am so sorry you travelled all the way down here to have that food!! I can assure you mate that we do have much better food places than Dennys. Zinco lounge is good food, not cheap but I love the food especially the sweet potato fries. I subscribed to your channel mate. 👍 Hopefully you review a different place in Swansea and you get better food than what you served in Dennys.. .surely can't be hard lol.

The toast was probably done under a grill hence only the upper side getting cooked. The meal did look rather dried and tired. £3.60 would have been a more realistic value, not £36.

Oh dear! It is not often I am lost for words but WOW! 😱 I know I ranted the other day about food waste; and I apologise for that. My excuse being, I just watched Danny order 6 burgers and chips, 12 pizzas and 24 kebabs and take a single tiny bite out of each 🤣 But seriously, that muck looked disgusting and I think the bin was its rightful place. It reminded me of some of my childhood trips to England and going to the roadside Happy Eater/Little Chef places, they were just like this, but as a young child I did not know any different and thought it tasted lovely. 😝 "Grilled/cooked on one side"...Sorry that really hits a nerve and winds me up no end. I hate when places do that; apart from fried eggs, they should never be turned or flipped which then breaks the yolk. Even toast, if I get given toast which is only toasted on one side, I go mad! Regarding the pancakes, you literally read my mind! You left them until last and I was watching them throughout thinking, how the hell is that butter not melting!?! Is it nuclear butter or just cold pancakes? 🤣 Well done Greeno for persevering with that lot. I may not always like the food, but your videos always cheer me up. I also want to commend you for doing your reviews; even the most critical of them inside whilst you are eating. I cannot think of another reviewer who does that, they all seem to just eat it and review it outside. You are never unfair but always honest and I think it is a good thing if the staff overhear you, because that is the best chance of getting improvements. Before submitting this comment, I had to go back to the Longleat review to find the score for comparison, but I could not find any numerical score. So, I think IMHO this just nudges slightly above Longleat because the cleanliness and hygiene in Longleat was disgraceful bordering on unlawful. Thank you for dining here, so we do not have to!

Thanks for your detailed comment as always Gary! I hope all is well your end. Referring to the inside v outside thing - sometimes due to excessive noise, or loud copyright music being played inside a venue, the only option is to film outside, or not film at all. Of course if the weather is fair, sitting outside is fine, but if it's wet, or freezing then of course sitting inside is always preferable and gives a better idea of the ambience - just explaining why it's not always possible. The Longleat video was before I started using a scoring system - but I think they would have got a similar score. As you rightly say though, Longleat was bordering on a public health issue!!

When I emigrated to the US in 2000 Denny’s use to be really good up to about 2012 then they started getting bad, I use to love eating at Denny’s but now there terrible in here in the US too now
