If we are in this situation today, is simply because we don't read nor teach our history in a proper manner . Evidently the history is out there and we try to distort it. Sometimes we refuse to accept the truth because it hurt's. There are incoherencies in the history handed down by word of mouth as against the written one but always we need to refer to what has been put down in the books dated far back in those days and not the refined ones writing by fanatics . The Ashanti kingdom history is like a rich man who never told his kids how he made his wealth. My mother is Aduana from ABESiM that is also part of the Akwamu family, And my father is ANYIN (GUAN.) The word Akan is thrived from Akanfoor or Adikanfoor by the Bono people for being the first settlers among all Akans, so it makes enough sense to say that all other Akans originated or came out of Bono Kingdom. Another word the same Bono people or Adikanfoor(the head or first people) created later Akans. So why would someone even dare to say today that Bono is not Akan simply because the language is little bit different from the one is Asante, nonsense! It is called dialect which runs in all the languages in the world. So if Bono is infact not part of the Akan group then what are they for those you are saying that. The Asante language did not exist and it is from the old Bono tongue now changed after it's creation therefore the new group from the same old one needed a new sound for communication. But the whole Bono region is not in the hands of these people for example; Sunyani being their capital is not only run by the Bono people alone, it belongs to the Guan family, as well as Ahafo people. Bono language sounds bit more like the Guans(Nzema, Sawi, Ayin, Aowin, Chokosi,etc.) than any Twi language so i can understand because i myself was raised by my Ayin family in Bono region. And Bono is our second language in the region, but we are also more connected to the Sefwi, Baoule, Nzema, Aowin, Mande, Chokosi, and many others from across the border in la Cote d'ivoire. There is also Ayinman somewhere in the Asante region. 👍

I don't really think that some Asantes clearly do understand the language of Bono people, some still find it difficult to understand it. The fact is that this language is from the old days and it is spoken different in other parts of the region. Sometimes it sounds like Guan(Ayin, Nzema, Baoule, Sawi) and Twi the same time, this means it is a combination of various languages of Guan with Twi.

I'm glad you proposed this question, after all we are all learning about history. The true of the matter is the Akwamu people of Aduana clan were settling all over the place just like some other clans were also doing. With this they kept on leaving some of their families behind while the rest moved on looking for new settlements in order to acquire more lands in different areas. Not everyone left Kumasi Suntreso others stayed and later became part of the Asante branch just like Kumawu if you don't know then ask. They did that everywhere they stayed and it is why today there are so many of them in Akuapem, Kwahu, Asamankese, so many towns in the Bono region and Cote d'ivoire. It was all about settlements!

I don't think you know anything about Dormaa-Ahenkro people and some of their achievements in Ghana and also abroad, it's the reason why you refer to them as Enkurasefuor. Did you do that out of anger? I like to think so because i know a lot about them they are very tough and educated people. Some of the great musicians from Ghana happen to come from there but just that they speak the Asante Twi. Kumasi might be bigger than Dormaa but that doesn't make them Enkurasefuor because they do travel a lot in North America and Europe. I live in Toronto, Canada now and i can honestly say to you that in 2 out of 5 Bono people is someone either lived there, born, married, have family from Dormaa. So if Opayin Kwaku Duah as being his birth given name has sworn an oath to be called Otumfoor Nana Osei Tutu II it is telling us that he's representing his predecessor who was from Dormaa Akwamu, because of his father. You are correct! It is said that the men from the north were given wives by the Asantes for breeding because they saw how strong and tall they were. This would make the men in the kingdom strong warriors. The Asantes and some tribes of the northern could have ties and it's clear that alot of the Asante wars were fought with the help of some of the northners who the Asantes also sold into slavery and this was also going on in the northern side. They sold slaves to the Arabians and captured their own people for the Asantes in the Atlantic slave trade. We are all one big family but somehow the Asantes have some secret family connections with some of our northern families than that of the many Akans sourounding the Asante Kingdom.

My brother slow down because not all of the fights was all about the Asantes conquering. A lot of the fights was family related like one King had sexual intercourse with his brother's wife. Sometimes it was about two sisters fighting for their sons to be the next Paramount Chief after the brother passes or dies. One perfect example as why the Baoules are in Cote d'ivoire/Ivory Coast today was because Abla Kuma who later became Queen of the Baoules son was next to the throne but instead her sister's son was picked. This led to a fight causing her brother's life then after that she left with some of the people to the present day. History also has it that Nana Osei Tutu I started a fight i believe with one Gyakari who was a Paramount Chief at Abantrease if i'm not mistaking. He was responsible for Osei Tutu I uncle's death, Obiri Yeboah, so he took revenge against him when he became the Paramount Chief of Kwaman(sometimes referred to as old Kumasi.) The Denkyiras bad treatment to the rest of the tribes in the area made everyone come together to fight them. The name Asante could be one of the Guan branch languages. Now when you are talking about the Bono language being different you are right, but did you ask yourself why? I guess not! Asante was not formed at that time and so what the Asantes speak today in especially Kumasi Asante Twi didn't exist because this tribe was created by Osei Tutu I when he had a dream in which the ancestors told him he should do everything in his power to bring everyone together as one Kingdom. So for the record Asante was not conquering others but rather fighting to create one mighty kingdom/empire and it had to be done through war with anyone who opposed that idea. From the way you speak I think you know nothing about Akan kingdoms.. First Aduana is not a kingdom its a Clan. There are Many clan chief that form a kingdom. Asante Kingdom have aduana in them as well as all the 12 clans. Akyem have aduana in them as well as all the 12 clans, Kwahu has aduana in them as well as all the 12 clans Secondly Aduana peisie(first born) is Akwamuhene nor dormaahene. Every Clan has an elder chief who is one or part of each Akan kingdoms.
