I had heard from another wrestling outlet here on KZbin. This individual's thoughts on it being a "watch". And he went into great detail about how that particular storyline would play itself out. I thought he did a very thorough detailed job of explaining it. However, after hearing your theory i am now leaning towards this probably being it. And will more than likely be exactly how you spelled it out. You also did a very good job detailing the chain and timing of events that leads up to Rock handing Cody the lighter. And also what is to come in there re-match down the line. This makes a lot of sense. But one thing is for certain it's either the lighter or the watch more than anything else i've heard. I'm and on and off WWE guy as i haven't truly watched the product since 2008. As i grew VERY tired of the "PG" rating direction the company was taking. And i've been a fan and part of this business in a marketing capacity for my local indy fed. For the better part of 30yrs now. However, after Rock came back and had the RAW angle of him beating down Cody and making him bleed. Plus, with the company joining Netflix i think we are all FINALLY in for a more "edgier" product. Dare i say "attitude era" style of storylines and matches again. Personally, i think they could get away with "PG-13" RAW's and Smackdown's on Netflix. And even go as high as "TV-14" for some of their PPV's. Since with PPV you can get away with A LOT more. I've also heard the floating rumor about their being 2 shows a rated and unrated version. However, i'm not a fan of that because it puts unnecessary stress on the production team to edit all of that. They could easily fit everything into one show for both programs if they do it right. There is one big problem though that hasn't been addressed. And that is how do they handle Rock's absence from the company. Since his big return scored such huge ratings. Well here is my theory and suggestion on that very topic. They should re-instate the guest GM angle on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. That they had huge success with a few years ago. This will do two things. Give everyone the chance of seeing wrestlers and other personalities they haven't in a while. Such as; Foley, Austin, Bischoff etc...Who have all been in that role at one point. And secondly it gives those personalities the freedom of handling each show be it Raw or Smackdown as they see fit. It's a great "void filler" in Rock's absence and keeps the show and more importantly ratings hot. When you see how many viewers tuned in to see Rock upon his return. And then how they lost some 160k viewers when he wasn't on camera that's a HUGE deal. You want to keep things rolling while he's away. And i think this guest GM suggestion i'm throwing out would do just that. Hopefully, they'll implement it.

I didn't know about the X Tweets from HHH and Cody. In the Attitude Era, destroying each other's properties, mainly vehicles, was a thing that happened, no cops involved. I thought the lighter theory sounded a little too far out there at first as it could insinuate the Rock was/could potentially kill Cody and his family, and even though wrestling is "fake" and scripted, I'm not sure Rock would want a story like this or go that far with the life as a board member and movie career outside of WWE (again, even though everyone knows it's a story they are telling). I think the Rock can be a "bad guy" and be "mean" like he's been and eventually turn face and people will "forgive him" but going as far as setting Cody's bus on fire seems a tad too far, even for something that is "fake" and "scripted" (as WWE still wants to keep blurring those lines between reality and part of the "script"). The lighter theory makes sense but I get a feeling that is a tad too far for the Rock, even in the scripted world of the WWE. Again, he's still an actual board member and in movies in real life - going as far as setting a guy's bus on fire (which he/his family could potentially be in) seems a tad too far as WWE wants to keep up the blurred lines of reality still for their "scripted" stories.

Cody gifted Dusty's HOF ring to Rock in request for Rock's help in overcoming the Bloodline. It was a treasure since Dusty was one of Rock's heroes. Bloodline rules (no DQ) ensured Cody could have outside help to fend off the Bloodline. Rock made Cody earn everything along the way by not taking it easy on him. He wasn't going to allow Cody to have an easy victory at WrestleMania either because he wanted Cody to be the hero and star that Dusty was to the Rock. So on Raw Rock returned the ring to Cody. (I could be wrong on that) By this I mean that there has been no mention of it during the shows, or the PPV's. Only in social media and maybe local news. (capitalization emphasis and not yelling) To me what makes a tiny bit more sense is it is the watch that Dusty sold that he was supposed to give to Cody after he died, but he had to Pawn it during the real "Hard Times" the Rhodes family faced. Sure, it doesn't really explain the phrasing used for his catchphrase, but maybe we can do a "what was that all about segment" where Cody reveals his Daddy's watch which was mentioned at the press conference. So maybe The rock, who is friends with Nick Khan, recovered the watch or was the one who had it the whole time. Obviously the Heart Break part you hit the nail perfectly square on the head with. Maybe the catchphrase is just Rocks saying "don't forget bitch I am your boss, I am powerful, I just gave you back something important that you thought lost forever". Add onto this whole "Pot headed" theory that to me the look on Cody's face matches with this theory much better than yours does. I would think that if its the lighter, hes signifying to cody the passing of the torch to signify the start of the new era. If its a ring, its more than likely the ring that he pawned that belonged to Dusty Rhodes that meant soo much to Cody. if it was anything else, It would be the Ula Fala Bead from Roman's Necklace.
