Greg Cote is running out of steam as we approach the end of the show, but first we have to get to his horse paying dividends, the Bucket of Death, and Jer-emmy Tache. Then, we had out the first ever Nathan Peterman Award for worst QB of all-time and discuss if there was anything FSU could have done to make the Playoff. Plus, we continue our conversation on the dehumanization of athletes and if there was any money you'd take to experience pain both mentally and physically later in life.

Dan has never been broke. You really need to understand life without money. Meaning can't pay rent not a mortgage rent. It is a way to make generational wealth. Better lives for family members going through pain and can't afford treatment. Football players make generational wealth to ensure family members are not in pain and broke.

The draw of football, as a fan, is easy to comprehend. In football, as in no other sport, on every play, one man goes against another man. And on every play, one man wins and one man loses, 22 times. One breakdown can effect an entire play. Edge beats the LT? Sack or bad throw or INT. WR gets behind the DB? Touchdown. LB misses an assignment? Easy eight yards. QB makes a bad read? No gain. There are 11 winners and 11 losers on each snap. Basketball doesn't have that. A breakdown in one area may or may not kill the possession due to the amount of ISO. Baseball for sure doesn't have it, because the majority of the conflict is between two people: the pitcher and the catcher. Sports with what what I call "role type" positions (defensemen versus centers in hockey, attacker versus center back in soccer, etc.) don't have that "every play" conflict because sometimes they are doing almost nothing. We are drawn to it because it is man v man competition at its core, and our alligator brains eat that shit up.

I like the strategy and defenses stopping offenses. Also like offenses scoring on good defenses. Game of inches, the preparation, etc. Fans have their reasons and this is pretty much common sense by this point.

When is Dan gonna write his "I hate sports & how talking about sports made me millions" book? This guy. I was in the military for 20 years & was deployed 13x to a combat zone. With bullets, mortars, rockets, & missiles flying over my head or landing pretty close to me, I never once felt like I was gonna get hit by any of them. When I was 40 & retired from the military & still going into combat zones for work, it finally dawned on me that one of those things is bound to hit me or a helicopter is bound to fail or get hit & maybe I should stop doing this job. That's when I retired for good. However, If I didn't make any retirement/FU money, I'd probably still be doing it. That's how athletes who play contact sports or do combat sports feel.

I don't mind that we keep coming back to the discussion of the inherent dangers of football (and we can extend that to boxing, MMA, and hockey to varying extents). It means that these guys can still FEEL.

Just let the oddsmakers decide. Take all 6 of the teams, have the oddsmakers handicap every combination, top 4 teams favored in the most of these hypothetical matchups get in and are seeded accordingly.

I'm convinced Dan's constant need to make everyone feel bad about football is just a way to talk about football when they're out of material. Which is fine. He knows we'd all be listening to Professor Mike lecture on Premier League soccer (or whatever subject he's an expert on that given day) if he didn't box Mike out.
@kennylevine1150
@kennylevine1150 8 ай бұрын
honestly I'd rather hear Mike lecture about some topic that I don't care about then hearing the same "football is dangerous" and "we don't understand how big and athletic these people are" arguments that Dan repeats at least once a week.

@@michaeljenkins7972 I agree its crazy, but its different. Cassell did not play, and the reason was because 2 top 10 overall draft picks were in front of him. Boyle played in college and sucked... With Cassell you can say we haven't seen him and the reason is because the guys in front of him were awesome college qbs. We saw Boyle and it was bad.

Guys there is a clip of herbstreit hours before Jordan broke his leg, saying he'd leave out FSU for Alabama which was ALSO before Bama beat Georgia. The injury was just a convenient justification. They want the highest ratings, that's it. They don't care about anything else.

@JDub0623
@JDub0623 8 ай бұрын
I think they got it right, or most justifiable, all things considered, but honestly, if it is a combination of best/most deserving I think it's 1. Wash, 2. Mich, 3. Bama, 4. UGA.. I want Texas in there, but like you said, even though it's not a really bad loss, they do have the worst loss (even though it's to the #12 team & rival in OU) & Georgia's single loss is to the now #4 team. But once Bama won, there was no way they were going to slide them in without Texas because of the head to head & that win being at Tuscaloosa by two scores.

Nathan Peterman will never be outdone. Started by that melon brain Sean McDermott, after he benched Tyrod Taylor, himself a survivor of many bad coaches and trainers with long needles. 5 interceptions in his first half as a starter and remained in the league for years. WTF.
@BostonBori92
@BostonBori92 8 ай бұрын
That was definitely an organizational move not on Sean directly if I remember Tyrod had some wild injury bonus tied into his contract so the Bills purposely didn't play him so he didn't get hurt

People don't care because there are a lot more dangerous jobs, with long term consequences, and get paid an average wage. They can't just leave, they have a family and bills. But someone who makes a lot of money, sometimes millions and can leave, you want our sympathy. Stop asking for sympathy. My dad can't smell or barely hear because he worked at the refineries in Texas City his whole life and didn't complain. More people have died there in the last 30 years then all of the top sports combined. And don't get me started on long term affects Hell, include all sports. I wouldn't want to work on power lines or a sawmill. A lot of times it's not the money that keeps them in, it's the lifestyle
