Isn't McTaggart's argument similar to Zeno's paradox of movement, in the sense that both lead to a conclusion that contradicts our experience, but they do so in a way that it's difficult to point out exactly where the mistake is in the reasoning?

I think , since the A series and B series exist , time exists , depending on if you look at it from the outside or inside?

One can argue that acording to special relativity there is no absolute present, past and future. Space time can be interpreted as a hyper cube, and the relative present can be seen as slices in the cube. But since there is more than one way of slicing the cube, there is no absolute present past and future. You can have an object B that is in the "present slice" of object A, but A not be in B's present. That would suggest that if time exists, there is at least one possible world where series A is not the case (a world where GR is true), but we can still conceive of notion of time (a eternal space-time block). So A series is not necessary.

1:58 "...and the heat-death of the universe is future, will be present and past" -Hmmm I think this makes no sense if u claim in the first place, that change is a necessary property of time...

Great video as always! BTW, Carnades, I was pretty impressed with the Is-ought distinction in logical form, it got me curious. What does Euthryphro's dilemma look like in logical formulae?

+CosmoShidan I have some philosophy of religion arguments into logical form here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oaGxm3Vtfa94fLs), I would probably make the Euthyphro Dilemma as something like: Either God choose what is obligatory or he did not. If God chose what is obligatory, then obligations are arbitrary. If he did not then he is not all powerful. Either God is not all powerful or obligations are arbitrary. (Constructive Dilemma)

Carneades.org Thanks Carnedes! BTW, what does Euthyphro's Dilemma look like in symbolic logic?

The solution to this is found in quantum mechanics. Time Tense is set by answering the question “has this been observed?”

I always thought this argument was silly armchair philosophy since time is clearly experientially real. But since you will present counterarguments to it, I shall refrain from doing so right now.

+Daniel Sampaio Honestly I probably agree. The distinctions between the A series of time and the B series of time seems to be the important and interesting consequence of the argument. The argument itself seems quite flawed.

How deeply have you investigated the experience of time? It can be quite interesting :)

What the hell? The only person committing circular fallacy (begging the question)is Mc taggart In order to prove A theory is contradictory,he have to assume A theory is wrong That’s exactly circular reasoning His argument goes like this A theory is wrong, therefore premise one No event........ Premise 2 all events..... C A series is Contradictory Therefore A theory is wrong We are not committing Circular fallacy because we are not trying to prove A theory
