I actually thought about this a lot since i feel like that too, so i will explain exactly why this is happening: This feeling means that we are officially at the door step of middle age. We are still young enough to have high body function and energy and excitement to build life ahead of us but at the same we are old enough to realize burden of mortality. As a result we get anxiety and we always feel like we need to do something before its too late. Since we as humans view everything trough our own perception and since we are aware that we wont last forever there is this emergent feeling that things will end soon, which in some people even feels like world might possibly end soon. Countless people felt like this trough out history which they wrote about and predicted end of all things in their writings. Now, as a result of constantly being busy and focusing on many things at once time just flies by. You could feel time again if you were to be still and focus on present moment but problem is that deep anxiety will rear its head and fear of the future will take the form of restlessness. I figured out this when i realized that it was me all along who was rejecting the present moment due to the anxiety about future... After all, how can i be still when there are things that i need to do. And think about subjective feeling too - when you are lets say 10 yo then one years is literally 10% of your whole life, but when you are 90 then one year is 0.9% of your whole life so it feels less significant. So just think about it, life goes by unnoticed if you focus on things instead on it, and you cant take your career or your money to the grave with you. Even your name was give to you when you were born and it too will stay after you are gone. So focus on being alive if you dont want life to speed by you like a rocket.

I think its the effect of the internet on our consciousness, taking us out of the moment into a numb state, but also filling us with anxiety about global problems, which further removes us from the moment. You’re asking the right questions and soul searching well, drifting into Eastern philosophy.

well put, I catch myself doom scrolling through different apps sometimes and all of a sudden I just feel like I'm in a trance, have lost all conception of what I was thinking, or like you put it, "numb". I see a lot of people my age and younger having this fuck it mentality about health, money or the future because it appears to everyone that there might not be a future due to global problems. Circling it back to how you put it...internet, anxiety...completely removing us from the moment. What an interesting ride it has been and will continue to be... Great comment, thank you.

@@consciousanxiety But we must also remember, time is simply a construct. Not reality. If you believe we create our own reality, then as we get older, it just how we are perceiving our place within in this construct of time - a life based on linear events and how much we are focused on it or not on them at any given "time". Who really knows, right? If we are as some say, spirit having a human experience, then this might just be a byproduct of the experience. A lot of our decisions are based on fear of the outcome as we get older, so we might tend to focus on how do we get to where we want be and get lost in the passage of time.
@LeeHounshell
@LeeHounshell Ай бұрын
Your brain has an internal "clock" that ticks internally (with different rates for everyone). Athletes have a "fast" clock, it allows fine discernment of physical things, for example catching a ball. Scientists have "slow" clocks that pattern-match deeply, letting them think and discover new things. As you age, your clock rate changes too. So imagine that when you were 10 your internal clock beat at 600 ticks a second. That becomes your measure of time. In one minute you experience 36000 ticks. When your are older, say 60, your internal clock has slowed down. So if your internal clock now beats at say 300 ticks a second, then over a minute you experience only 18000 ticks. Because you have learned to measure time at the higher rate, it now takes twice as long to experience 36000 ticks. This means that subjectively time is "speeding up" for you.

@@consciousanxiety From what I've gathered, 22 represents deeper relationships, 33 represents right path forward to divine purpose, 44 represents divine protection on that path, and 55 is incoming positive change. I've done a lot of introspection these past few years, and of course there are and will still be conflicts that I struggle with internally, but I take the appearance of these numbers as a positive omen. I not only see them on clocks, but on views, likes, video lengths, etc. And there is no consistent pattern to what my thoughts are when I see these numbers, but maybe I need to pay more attention.🙂

I’ve always found the concept of time intriguing. Have you heard of proportional theory? Pardon me if I’m butchering it, but essentially it addresses the feeling of how time seems to move faster as we grow older, and attributes it with the fact that the older we get, the proportion of what a year is in comparison to our lifespan shrinks. For instance, when you’re 10 years old, 1 year is 10% of your entire existence, and even less of your conscious existence, whereas at 40, 1 year is only 2.5%. Thus, it feels like less than it did when we were younger. This blows my mind. However, I think that this is only a portion of why it feels like time is constantly accelerating/slipping away and the majority is more of what you addressed in this video. Love the topic and great insights 👍🏻

I have noticed as I've gotten older I perceived time to moving faster, and I would think this would be accelerated if you go through a middle aged crisis. Just like anything times relative when you're waiting for somebody and they're very late time drags on., but when you're having an intimate moment time flies by. But if you subscribe to the ideology that we're living in a simulation then this would explain a lot of things about time.

Great comment, thank you! I think we're on a similar wave of thought. I try not to say a "simulation" because I feel like I lose people...they might be thinking that I'm talking about something I saw in a movie or a video game, lol. A buddy of mine has a theory that time seems to pass slower when we’re younger because we’re still adjusting to life. We’re noticing more. We’re absorbing more info. Once we get accustomed to the everyday life, it goes by like a blur because our brains throw out old info that it doesn’t need. So in a sense we spend a lot of our adult life asleep at the wheel.

Hi brother :) Nice thoughts and a quite insightful video. Time is always relative to one’s specific step along the way, it’s not objectively measurable for everyone at the same paces. I also saw some of your other videos and also contemplated about what it means to be a man and what it means to be a woman. Recently I stumbled upon a youtube channel of a young single mother, its name is Lundi Forest. The story of this woman is quite tragic, and all the drama in her life happened because of the injured ego of her partner, who is also the father of the baby. And I just wonder, what does it really mean for such an individual to be a man? If he cannot even protect the mother of his baby? How can a man desire to terminate his own offspring just because he fell out of love with his partner? In the end, what is the true definition of masculinity? You may also wanna check out the channel of this young lady, she suffers from severe body injuries and needs our support, even if it is to boost the algorithm with our views and comments. @Tongji-os5my 6 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot for the reply! Yes, it would be nice to hear your thoughts on masculinity, especially in a time where it seems that we suffer from a narcissism epidemic. Is testosterone what makes a man? Or is it more than that? Because in most cases people are so obsessed with the packaging, that they ignore the rotting content inside… like that man that you already mentioned. Yes he is nuts. He claims that all his perversions are “ natural “ and he is himself a pdf file ( if you know what I mean), there are videos where he promotes these dangerous ideas to his viewership. He should definitely be locked somewhere and not be allowed to use social media. If you have time please check out a channel called The Ghost of James Uganda. The name sounds funny, but in reality this channel is the one with the best evidence material for the matter we are discussing here. Be well and take care! I am waiting for your new video :)

It's because your concept of time is relative to the amount of years you have existed, and the more years you have existed, the shorter a year feels, simply because you have experienced more of them.
