Toughbilt will not be releasing their rolling drawers until Summer 2024. Ridgid is releasing rolling drawers now. 3 drawer unit in a few weeks They will be the only brand with rolling drawers. Plus, their wheel cart is removable. SKU numbers have already been assigned at Home Depot for the drawer box and the wheel cart. Ridgid 2 drawer and 4 drawer boxes will be released in Q1 2024. So by spring Ridgid will have 2, 3, & 4 drawer rolling stackable units. IMHO TB should have debuted with rolling drawers right out of the gate. That would make them a Packout & Modbox killer

@@Snowblind113 I bought into Toughbuilt/Stacktech in Melbourne/Australia (also have Packout & AEG) and returned the lot. For me, TB is heavy duty with design flaws. Empty weight ie crate 9lbs, etc, access to tools with stack hard unlike Packout easy, the single clip for organisers a major flaw, catch it badly it opens, the table top is bamboo (not plywood) etc. TB ideal if working on construction sites with pick ups/trucks/vans. I am not sold on Toughbuilt storage. TB not for everyone.

I was super excited when I saw them release their stacktech system and already have one of everything they release and doubles of a few of them. Not being able to open lower boxes so easily or not being able to stack on top the tote and small box is not an issue I have a problem with. Completely modular base system is a huge game-changer. I want my base unit with wheels to be a drawer, not a lidded case, as most of my gear is lightweight enough that drawers are fine and allow me to access everything without de-stacking. Being able to break up a big stack of drawers to load in my sedan, then lock those all together on wheels for on-the-job movement will be incredible. These also look like they’re avoiding unnecessary geometry. They may be heavier, but I’d be curious what the exterior volume to interior volume ratio might be, because I suspect it’s better than most other systems. I’m in the film/tv industry, and I already want to make custom metal corners for these, but with fittings for my industry: 1/4-20 and 3/8 threaded holes, as well as Arri locator pins.
@JakeWeihe Жыл бұрын

@@JakeWeihe yes, I’ve been all over your channel the last two days! Last time I bought a system like this was in 2020 and it was Husky Connect and Packout on the shelves at my local stores. I’ve undertaken far more projects and have many more tools with more to come. I was really surprised to see so many options out there. I mostly am doing DIY home renovations, but also woodworking and mechanic related work. One feature I’m finding missing from many brands is inserts that firmly secure your tools, instead of them piling into a bin. Dewalt and packout so far have the best foam and I like the dewalt insert trays. One thing I want to find is a good system for my sockets and ratchets from various brands. I’ve got everything from snap on to harbor freight and I would like an organizer that accepts universal sockets. For my low use tools, I’m considering the tstak/versa stack tool boxes. They aren’t as large or hefty as the suitcase tool box from tough built (which I was impressed with) but they are smaller. I’ve only gotta hold one tool in some foam and a few bits/adapters/blades. Price point makes low value tool storage in these simple cases appealing.
@chauncey5962 Жыл бұрын
I just bought the ammo can as a car tag along so I could keep my metric/u.s. separate. It does well I fit all my sockets, box ends and my 16” proto 1/2” drive in the bottom with my ratchets in the top. Very pleased with this system will be expanding to tough built for a first stacking system
@mr.m2556 Жыл бұрын
A great review....i had to test it out in person. Overall it is a very impressive system though I see the lock/unlock latch a issue since it sticks out and likely will be broken off at some point. A flat finger hole like the on the packout would be a long-term improvement that would match the premium level of this system and products. If they can match the packout options, this is the one. There also needs a higher connection point or a strp to better support the handle and lessen the deflection when moving a stack around - a future WD product for all stacking systems.

My one big thought on the stacking system is that the mechanics are all in the bottom of the box, not the top. This means that if i wanted to design a custom base plate for mounting onto the top, I'm fairly certain it would require at least some spring latch to connect it to the box below. This would make a lot of ideas like buying a separate box and attaching cleats of some sort to the bottom not as easily doable.
@JakeWeihe Жыл бұрын
True. I make that point about other boxes in another video but forgot to mention it here. I think 3rd party makers like stack smarter will figure it out. Worse case scenario you'll have to resort to attaching the different base with straps.

I use packout, but there are alot of things other manufacturers have done to their products that Milwaukee should have or should employ with their system.

Really bummed I didn’t see this when it came out to get that deal for 200 hopefully they bring it back soon

If someone was considering buying one of these at systems now, would you wait a few months into the new year hoping for product improvements or dive in now at holiday prices?
@JakeWeihe Жыл бұрын
The best prices of the year are happening right now. I started with just the piece Packout stack a few years ago and slowly built up from there. Just get the pieces you know you’ll use and make sure they do what they’re supposed to do before walking out the store ( I’ve seen messed up boxes in stores from all the brands)

I hope the inside color is brighter to reflect more lights, so I find my small tools faster

I'm new to modular systems and drawers seem to be an important option from what I hear.
@JakeWeihe Жыл бұрын
Definitely. But you can still get a lot of organization done with the main boxes

I wish these came out before I got the husky build out :^x

How to do lock the drawers with padlock on tough build
@HouRocket7139 ай бұрын
Is it possible to make a locking plate for the stacktech 2-1 convertible hand truck vertical base plate such as the one on future hand truck?

I’d like to see a box that opens from the front while stacked.

I'm a huge fan of Toughbuilt but UK roll out is usually delayed as there is no main supplier. If you have any further contact can you see if they have a UK drop date?

Have been looking into a modular system and this one piqued my interest. The company makes very thoughtful and well made stuff. I hope they are able to actually release and sell all the pieces they have planned. The company is under some serious financial strain so a bankruptcy or forced buyout could curtail the vision they seem to be going for.
