Thanks André and Lisa for taking the time to make this video. Its sad that we have to be vigilant and be on our guard like this but that is the reality. Its one of the things that I have been thinking about recently, we/I are very trusting and in general like to think that everyone is good and not a threat. But... it only takes one bad apple to ruin it for everyone. Some really good sensible advice there. Something as simple as make sure that when you park up for the night that you are facing the exit. I remember coming across a youtube clip of a couple who found themselves on the end of a pier in Ireland facing the wrong way when some idiot young locals decided to throw eggs at their vehicle. In the middle of the night, you don't want to be backing up and maneuvering your vehicle to move elsewhere. The most important gadget that I think every Motorhome should have is an Andre. He is the Swiss Army knife of Motorhome gadgets, he can do anything ! Joking aside, this is a wonderful video and one I'm sure I'll be referring back to in the future. Stay safe and most importantly, mind each other.......

Thanks as always Ronan for your thoughtful comments! I (Lisa) absolutely agree about about that most important gadget being Andre, he's even better than any Swiss Army knife I've owned! 🤣😜

Hi Andre & Lisa Very interesting video. As full timers we share all your views. As we hardly campsite! P4N 96% of the time. We did have the van shaking in Morocco at 3am last year. I jumped out of bed.. ready to sort the problem .. heart racing .. opened the blinds one by one . . Could not see anyone. Van started shaking again.. I eventually opened a Window to get a better view .. and a wild dog was gripping onto our bike cover and pulling it wildly ! lol phew ! Panic over .. 😊
@WeWillNomad11 ай бұрын
😂 Wow what a crazy story! Nothing like some nocturnal activity to get the blood pumping. Try sleeping after that! We almost expected you to say you found a donkey rubbing an itch or something against your bike rack. Imagine. 😂 Many years ago we were woken up by an elephant brushing up against our tent in Botswana (Okavango Delta). Suffice to say we kept VERY quiet!
@Walter_on_Tour11 ай бұрын
Ok.. an elephant! That takes it to another level. Back to security .. one of my favourites in our Hymer called Walter BTW are these little flashing dummy lights. Solar powered, and come on automatically at dusk. I have 3 of them stuck to my passengers door window, my drivers window and the kitchen window. They just slowly flash at night. I had them for the last 2 years and they only cost a few euro each. Brilliant. Take a look … cheers Martin

Years ago in Italy I forgot to do up the deadlocks on our door when I locked up the van to run into a busy supermarket. Was gone maybe 15 minutes and when I got back they'd pealed the side door open and stole a few thousand euros worth of stuff. Not a mistake ive made since or will ever again

Thanks for all the tips. I do a lot of them already when I'm out in my bus, but I just made one change based on your suggestions. The lock on the entrance door was a dead bolt, but it just had a handle on the inside, not a lock. I swapped it out today for one with a lock on both sides.

Well done for watching to the end! That spelling error was left intentionally to check who pays attention and to filter for grammar nazis 😂 Just joking, it slipped through and once the video is uploaded it takes a mighty effort to redo something as seemingly small as a spelling error,.

For me if you can get away from people then things get better. I will be honest I visit different countries not for the people but for the land, mountains and weather. Over the years you become good at reading the land and the place you have parked. weekends are something to keep in mind too as it's the time when they let these people out ;-) I personally think if anyone is loud then they have little to no respect for anything but themselves. rant over :-) Good stuff guys thanks.
@WeWillNomad11 ай бұрын
Spoken like someone with experience. 👍The longer we do this the more we shy away from 'people' and especially over weekends we have a whole different strategy. It feels like weekends comes so darn quickly nowadays! 😂

Of course the lock m out is reasonably priced but you're still relying on the integrity of the latch. The other solution is much better but wildly expensive. Then again peace of mind is priceless. I do like your python idea. 😂 Less effort than a dog.
