from h3snark, we love you!! i disagree and agree with a lot of the comments, but don't feel like you can't have a discussion there. the mods are very good at keeping it civil and we like to have discussions (despite them telling you to stay in your lane, not all of us are like that!) however, i do agree with some of the comments saying that trisha isn't a true zionist. i think yes its disgusting what she said and does (including other things), but i agree that it stemmed more from fetishizing and wanting to impress moses rather than truly believing in the state of israel. if she had a full explanation on whats going on, i think she would fully be pro-palestinian. she was also boycotting starbucks as well at one point because of it. but of course, everyone has their choice to accept that or deny it. i can decide for myself but i can't convince others to accept her. i agree with hasan that everyone can be rehabilitated, especially someone like her who has shown a lot of growth these past fee years. and i don't think she's intentionally being zionist, she's just a weirdo. in contrast to ethan who is actively pushing zionist propaganda.

My thoughts on the Harry Potter show... not for me, I'm not a fan of JK Rowling, and the original movies had a fair amount of racism and antisemetism, but her full on campaign against trans people hits me personally so that's a line i can't cross, i am one of those people who was asking others to boycott hogwarts legacy lol. Although if the new show has a more diverse cast (racially and LGBT wise) i do think that's a good thing. Also I'm pretty sure Hermione was black in the books and in the stage play so we'll see if they follow the books or the movies there I guess. But even if it's really woke and progressive I still can't get behind anything that's a JK Rowling IP, a lot of the cast from the movies have spoken out against her transphobia as well.

yeah we lost so much respect for JK. She's a producer on this show but I believe she had nothing to do with the game (but defo collected royalties), I never really noticed the racism at first but come to think of it now and the astisemetism with the goblins in the bank yikes
@Nightmare-pj4fg2 күн бұрын
Hermione wasn’t black in the books, she was a nerdy unattractive gap toothed redhead. Completely unrelated to your point, but there you go 🤷 And yeah the original Harry Potter movies with all their flaws are far better than the books. JK Rowling is an infection to society and her own work. That being said it’s always a weird fine line with diversifying a cast. For one instead of inventing new characters you’re just making an existing character very different, which can be jarring, and if the writing is particularly bad you’re also revealing the reason for this is sometimes that you can’t write minority characters and it gets bad fast, not that that is the case here of course, but many shows have taken and originated on the the liberal “token cast” playing card and fall flat because it was expected that somehow having a diverse cast means they’re immune to criticism and also it’s usually but again not always a sign of lazy writing. I think a great example is amazons rings of power. There are actually dark skinned people in middle earth. They have stories and hardships and culture. You could’ve easily cared more about the work and instead of just making a bunch of existing characters diverse, which somewhat contradicts the lore of the world, you could’ve told interesting stories from the view and lived experience of the dark skinned people of middle earth. In essence it is opting for writing white characters with dark skin instead of actually diverse characters. However of course criticizing this trend is tricky because it is intertwined with the nonexistent right wing agenda of “wokeness” which is actually just liberalism doing its thing, and of course the essence of the argument can very quickly become racist. However the crux is basically this Instead of writing white stories with diverse characters, which is the trend of art in liberalism, how about you write actual diverse stories. Note: These do of course exist, but they aren’t the norm of this diversification “effort”.

I think a big part of the snarks reaction to you is due to the fact, h3snark started as a branch off of frenemies3 when it briefly got shut down (f3 was predominantly pro-trisha). And because of its historical knowledge & coverage of Trisha, alot of the snark already know her history and controversies so when someone new comes in and tells them what they already know (ask a reoccurring question), they don't hold their typical patience to repeat themselves as politely for every new fallen fan who only knows Trisha because of and through the lense of h3. I'm saying all this as a not quite Trisha fan, she's like a problematic underdog, she makes good tv. I'd say don't take it personal, I'm sure the snark still likes you ❤️

I am also an H3 refugee. You're right about Ethan and Trisha. When I got absorbed into the H3 world I went back to watch Frenemies for the first time. I thought Trisha was the bad guy and Ethan had been a good friend. When the Hasan and Ethan breakup happened I suddenly realized Ethan was being like Trisha. It fucked with my brain to see Ethan become the person he made Trisha out to be. As the year after 10/7/23 passed the illusion of Ethan and Hila came tumbling down. Hearing you talk about it only solidifies that for me. I am not a Trisha fan but I have more compassion for her after what happened with Ethan. I didn't realize he had a history doing that to his "best friends" but it's very obvious now. Especially since Hasan is nothing like Trisha and the friendship still broke down. Ethan is a terrible person and not much better than Trisha. He is absolutely jealous of her and Hasan. I don't think he is capable of learning and changing. I thought he was and that's one reason why originally i become a fan. I was very wrong 😢

I want to start off saying that I love your podcast. I've learnt so much about Lebanon thanks to you all and I'm so so happy you've stayed safe throughout the war. It's always a relief to see a new episode and see you guys are okay. Also as a comic book fan I get how painful losing a collection would be and I'm glad your business is safe. I feel bad for skipping it but as a trans person in the UK I cannot bring myself to watch the section on Harry Potter. While I completely understand how great it is to have representation in media it's hard for me to be completely happy when it's at the expensive of trans lives in my country including black trans people. JK Rowling unfortunately has a say & an impact on British politics and as my country, Wales, is British & answers to England me and my friends have to face the consequences. She directly uses her money to hurt our community which, again, includes people of colour. When you buy things Harry Potter you are likely funding our pain. The trans community isn't even the only community effected by JK Rowling. A lot of her work is pretty damn racist including one of the only black characters being named "Kingsley Shacklebolt" and an Asian character being named "Cho Chang". Sorry to be the fun police. I really do love your podcast but I hope you might reconsider talking about Harry Potter in the future. Of course maybe you do address this, I don't know, like I said I skipped the section and I sooooo so sorry if I'm just chatting absolute shit here 🙏

As someone with borderline (BPD), which trisha has also said she suffers from, i have always had a special place in my heart for her. She makes me feel normal and seen, and watching her be purposefully triggered over and over again on Frenemies was awful. People with BPD are easily manipulated and have an ingrained black-and-white attitude towards people/subjects/feelings, which makes them very volatile. I am so glad people are starting to see her as human, especially as she has been very open to apologising and working on her previous wrongdoings.

Trisha's husband Moses said that he always knew he would leave Israel because he "doesn't agree with things and doesn't know how things will get better" and started saving his money from when he was a teenager so that he could move. They very actively avoid any serious issues but I have gotten some clues: After Oct 7th in an interview Trisha did with him, he was talking about how as a father now it is extra difficult for him to see things online happening to kids (I believe alluding to the atrocities happening in Palestine). I also think I saw an interview with him from years ago where he talks about not understanding what the army was about until he was in it and that looking back, he regrets it. He's also an artist and anti-government in general (I believe he said that he doesn't vote :/) but that's the vibe and energy I get

rewriting history. Trisha made people hate her because she was awful to Ethan and the crew on the pod. people just have no memory of what a terrible person she was & probably still is all of a sudden.

Characters are played by different actors in movies and series all the time. Imagine considering the only unacceptable attribute a change in skin color. How is that not blatantly racist.
