Its been a few days since Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury and since the dust has settled the question which many people are asking is if Usyk should be considered an all time heavyweight great? We have a look at the facts which decide this including his undisputed run to cruiserweight and then his undisputed run to heavyweight against fighters such as Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. We collate the facts to let you decide.

@supremercommonder why would he have to fight Joshua again when he's already schooled him twice? The point of a trilogy is that the first 2 were close. Usyk won almost every round. You act as if he's been in the heavyweight division his whole career. He's had 6 fights in the division, 4 of which are championship fights and 3 are defenses. If he retires at 40 with 2 title defences each year then he'd be undisputed in two weight divisions, clearing them both out with 10 defences all whilst undefeated. This is what should happen now. Fury rematch -> mandatory defense for the rest unless someone new comes up. His mandatories are likely to include Parker and maybe Zhang and Wilder if they aren't too old by then. 2 more years of title defenses against contenders and he would've solidified himself as top 10 or top 5 heavyweights of all time, top 15 boxers of all time. He doesn't even need to go to 40 years old

my question is just what else could he have even possibly done during his career to elevate himself further. essentially nothing. He's beaten everyone he could have fought and hes already went up a weightclass and still dominated. what else could the man even do at this point, theres no more weight classes to go up to. If you believe fury is a top 10 heavyweight, then I can't see a world where usyk isnt, and isnt higher on the list. to me it really seems like people have overlooked a possible top 5 boxer (not heavyweight, boxer) of all time because the story doesnt feel anywhere near as appealing as other greats. undefeated two division undisputed champion with arguably the hardest division jump possible, hes that guy.

Definitely top 5 all time. I dont care about some ancient “legendary” boxer that lived 100 years ago, and has a rumoured 60-0 stat fairy tales or some sht. Nor do i care about huge, nature freaks that put on the gloves and just started punching through opponent’s blocks. Thats not boxing, thats just brawling. They fought in a different era, against way less technical and educated opponents. When talkng about all time greats you only need to take their actual boxing skills into consideration, not their records in their respective eras, and Usyk is one of the smartest, technical boxers to ever live.

I am following him since the Muhammad Ali cup, I revisited his old fights and still watching him. He is something else, out of place. I am not even talking about his sheer will, his uncomprehensible mastery, his cat-like agility or his ability to soak punches. No his speed. I mean he is unbelievably fast. He is a heavyweight trained alongside lightweights. Tyson is a legendary fighter too and he is fast too. But he is fast for a heavyweigth. Usyk was called "he is too fast for cruiserweight" back in the day. Always, in all matches. Even Tony Bellew told this before the fight. I bet most heavyweights he fought(including his amateur carrier Joe Joyce for example) to this day did not understand what happened to them. Because it needs another level of speciality to entirely analyse his game. I watched and read those, everybody thinks he is a Grand Master. I am not tripping. Because he really is something else. Because he is not just fast. He is conciously fast. He is a master level boxer. He is in ful control of his speed. He is precise. He is an all time great. I've no doubt about that. And his style must be studied. And plus he showed us; in boxing skill beats all. Not size as long as two people are "around" the similar weightclasses ofcourse, not punching power. They all matter ofcourse. But if there is a skill gap between such two people; then on paper, better boxing mastery has the edge. Not the other way around. I told this for months to everyone, no one listened. They said "yeah he is good but AJ/Fury/XXX is too big, "at a certain level" size really really matters. That's why there are weight classes" blah blah :) Naaah, not really. Skill beats size is all. Usyk proved that very clearly.

What makes Usyk’s undefeated and undisputed title so much more impressive is that he was beating up guys way bigger than himself. Realistically, how many heavyweights throughout history would’ve been able to beat Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua? Less than 10 I think

As a fury fan, yes usyk is top 20 all time greatest list possibly top 10. That lead right handed south paw style with the pendulum step up is barely understood outside of Ukraine and parts of Russia

@@sabesabes12345 Exactly, it’s just that he’s only been a heavyweight for a short while. He’s already propelled himself to the stratosphere, he just needs to beat all the other competitors.

@@Highonlife24 agree. If he beats Tyson a second time, maybe Joshua a 3rd time and then hrgovic akd Kabayel, then he is definitely in the top 3 conversation. Up there it is just a question of preference. I will still consider Ali to be the greatest of all time, no matter what.

He beat Fury so hard people say Usyk was robbed even though he won. And it was Fury in his best shape and form ever, according to everything I've heard for the last 3 weeks. If Fury in his best shape and form had won this fight we'd be hearing how he's better than Ali, Mike Tyson, and everyone else.

Shows how physically and mentally conditioned Usyk is... I don't wanna do the era vs era thing... but hes the best of this era...l rekn he beats Fury in a return, hes met him now.. always has plans and angles... Fury has to improve...can he(?).

Definitely top 10. His accomplishments, skill level and champion heart are overwhelmingly impressive. He does everything well and has no true weaknesses. Assuming he fights Fury next and beats him, he will have literally no potential opponent left on the horizon really worthy of fighting. When all is said and done he might be close to top 5 of all time.
