His early game damage has always been good. His ult cc immunity is very useful too. I still think he is a very good mage. And he can also use 1 or defensive items depending on the game.

ive been solo pushing rank with valir and hes still pretty solid, being one of the few mages that can defend themselves properly and he can even get defense items, being ice queen wand and glowing wand his core items(u can also give concentrated energy if u want for that extra health and lifesteal)

valir is pretty solid against fighter/tank type of core with no cc immune like martis (alpha, balmond) + set-type tank (khufra, atlas), everyone on the front line will just get pushed back and slowly bbq'ed to death, tank items can also be used on valir if there are burst heroes along with the lineup

He's the hero that i ban every time. Nerf or not still annoying AF. Regular ban on my server are mostly Xborg,Alpha,Martis,valir(obviously),Yin and Nolan for some reason. If you have any questions for some of these bans..... you're welcome to ask my random teammates

Valir is a great pick for solo queue because assassins aren't as effective as tanks/fighters in jungler role, and you rarely see an opponent picking Rafaela who is perform well against Valir.

In high rank getting close enough to perform a basic attack just for an extra slow will place you in unnecessary risk. Besides, you could just get either a fully defensive item or damage item instead of thunderbelt. Item slots and build order are extremely valuable

As a valir main, having a roam like that is a dream. My team keeps picking tanks like franco. We'd lose not only because valir and hookers are such a bad combo, they 90% of the time can't even hook anything and ends up being a dead weight waiting at the back line for their cd. Not to mention the rarity of having a tank that knows to roam instead of baby sitting. For all the roamers out there, please note that valir works best with a tank that can keep the enemy at a distance and fight at the frontline. Hylos, baxia, gloo, minotaur, atlas, khufra, etc. Not hookers, not balls shooting sniper lady, not worm shooting sniper lady, not invisible non sniper lady.

Valir is one of the strongest hero at lv 1, I get 1st blood w/ him a lot, and strong against comps with a lot of frontline heroes. And you can build utility or defensive items after his core items

As an Odette main, I really don't have any problems with Valir as an opponent even in mythic and up lobbies, but there are definitely those who knows how to play him well and I just get EATEN, especially those who are well protected by their roam 😭

I think the nerf on icequeen wand was mor of a nerf for beginner Valir players, because then it’s easier to hit multiple times, but the true quality of valir is his zoning potential by having constant pressure on the enemies. Anyway I think you should definitely try Benedetta at some point. Right now she‘s an absolute monster because of her mobility, high damage and high spellvamp if built correctly. She even has enough burst damage to seriously contest her ultimate counterpart uranus (apart from minsi). And her kit even allows her to build full damage because of her immunities. It‘s not easy to master her but once you get the hang of her skills she can kill the enemies Backline before they can react. Corrosion synthe is obviously her core item but I love playing around with endless battle, because it provides some Regen and additional true damage so you can kill anybody who fights you. I think she does best on exp lane but jungle is also fine now because her first skill got several buffs. Fun fact: endless battle triggers on every charged autoattack meaning you can even kill tanks decently if you do a hit and run strat

The nerf on ice queen wand does have nothing to do with Valir's decline in popularity since the 1 sec cd can be covered by his passive flame on enemy. It's rafaela's slow immunity which can render slow amplifying heroes useless. Eg; Valir, Lylia, Yve.

Valir is only slightly nerfed by the ice queen wand. He can still stack the slow easily. What i hate is the item now nerf on mages without burn effects like cyclops cuz the 1st and 2nd skill damage so fast so can only trigger 1 stack of slow due to the cooldown while valir can still stack slow easily. Wish they change the cooldown so that the slow does not trigger on valir's passive burn effect

I just finished a Valir rank game and when I actually picked Valir our jungler really said "valir will carry" and he wasn't kidding at all 😂😂 same as beto here tho, I was lucky I had a good tank following me around 👏🏻

I think you should try another game, since the lineup is too favorable for Valir in this vid. You were able to keep spamming in backline uncontested, this won't happen in 90% of matches. If you encounter any backline assassins, burst heroes(as you mentioned), or rafaela you'll understand why no one is picking valir anymore. And you can't really choose last as Valir to make sure you get the best lineup everytime since there are way higher priority heroes than him.

I totally agreed, most of the time an annoying hero (moving or cc based) is there waiting to eat valir in the bush (with 1btn=1kill hero) cause he is really slow to deal dmg, and if u miss 2 fireball u end up being useless.

Try vainglory, better moba of all time with touch gameplay, camera to get vision in bush, and block to counter great dmg dealer, so satisfying to play. After u play it, all moba are just trash. I play ML for so long, and every time they bring a new hero I'm disappointed cause they balance the game with their foot, and u don't have any effective equipment to really counter them.

Oh most tank I met in mythic these days very negative and lost in map never have I seen them rotate to marksman Lane to protect the marksmen especially when I'm playing marksmen role and I'm known as the worst marksmen when playing with no support. I'm seriously no good at marksmen and I don't even get help everyone some how don't like ganking my lane and instead went to gank exp XD. I sometimes end up feeding due to no ganks.
