Okay, so at 6:50 - no, they’re not in Caitlyn’s room, even though it might look similar. The setup is different, it’s a guest room (and a lot of people also think Caitlyn never actually let any girl into her room after she met Vi). You can tell from the scene that it’s cold and dark. It’s like she’s searching for warmth, but yeah... it’s just not happening. Later in the season, you'll notice how her actual room has changed compared to Season 1.

One thing that was a huge relief to me in this episode, and that a lot of fans seem to ignore, is that Caitlyn is already pushing back against Ambessa in small ways. Despite Caitlyn's new title, it's obvious that she's not really the one in control here and doesn't like the way things are going. Because of episode 3, I think people already determined in their minds that Caitlyn was going to become (and preemptively judged her future actions as those of) an evil dictator. The term "villain arc" gets bandied around a lot. Cait's definitely more angry, but you can still see that moral center in her that Ambessa lacks.

Personally I feel a lot of her shift comes in ep 5 when Ambessa goes behind her back to work with Singed. It's not shoved in your face but Ambessa makes a power grab here and Cait sees she did that and that she allied with the creator of shimmer.

The prison scene is such a sweet moment. Yup... it showed so much about Sevika's character. She disliked Jinx and thought she was a mess, but she also has morals and I think, ironically, saw Jinx the most clearly out of everyone around her. As an unstable child. And no matter how much of a dickhead a kid is being, they're still a kid. And she's part of the undercity. You watch out for your own.

The fact that you spent so long on the Cait/Maddie scene I think just goes to show how much you still love Cait lol I felt the same way when I saw that scene... just analyzing the heck out of it to make sure Cait wasn't actually invested in her lol. If it helps put it into context, I believe it was Amanda Overton who said that Cait is trying to fulfill her role as a Kiramman and part of that is dating someone her parents would approve of. also "Tall lanky problem" made me laugh because of a line said later in the season that holds much the same sentiment lol This show is so incredible, and every episode I went into I was so invested that I was just strung out. @@ClaudieTV Adding to this comment, apparently, there was a scene that ended up being cut (Amanda mentioned this in a live reaction), where Cait and Maddie talk at a bar after work hours. In the scene, Maddie shares her story with Cait - it’s something about how she became an enforcer to honor her father, who died at the hands of Zaunites/Jinx while on duty (possibly during Jinx's bridge bombing, though it wasn’t elaborated). Maddie "worships" Caitlyn, and in Caitlyn’s mind, Maddie represents someone she’s “supposed” to be with, someone her mom would approve of.

Just for you to not feel bad about that topic, Maddie is the same age as Cait, maybe one year younger, one of the writers said she just looks young and she is not very tall. I actualy really like the scene with Maddie, it shows a lot of how Caitlyn feels about everything and all her doubts, disapontment and insatisfaction in every aspect of her life right now . I also love her interactions with Ambessa, it shows that she is not dumb, Ambessa knows that Jinx is the only way to manipulate her but it is geting more difucult to controll Caitlyn. I got mad at Caitlyn a lot in act 1 but even if this thing with Maddie is happening I really never got mad about this particular thing, months have passed and even if I dont like it, she is single and she can be with other people, the only thing that bothers me is that she clearly doesn't like Maddie as a partner she doesn't want to be touched an that is a very incosiderate thing for the other person, at the same time I get why she is doing it. Cait doesn't have friends her age, she lost Jayce, she lost her mom, Mel was the only one that tryied to get a little close to her to protect her and she is gone too, her father doesn't confort her, and obviously she is at fault for Vi not being with her. She has nobody in her life and she just wants to feel something other than hate, disapontment and pain so i really cant be mad at her for this particular reason, i think a lot of people in similar situations will do somthing similar just to feel some kind of human interaction,but this is just in my point of view, i find it very sad 😢

One popped up, the entire act 1(episodes 1-3) of season 2 is done in under 38 minutes. That's criminal, I'd say you are just as extreme to the other direction, but I prefer it. The man you refer to as “Lizard Boy” is actually a fish. His name is Steb, but most of the fandom refers to him as Fishco because he looks like Silco. Also, you’re not alone in your crush on Jinx. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her. Not only was Jinx talking to Silco's empty chair: She was actively trying to trigger her mental disorder and cause herself to hallucinate. She misses him so much that she's trying to make her own mental state worse just so she can see him again. Sevika is absolutely soft on Jinx. Look at the way she looks at her when Jinx has her panic attack/mental breakdown moment this episode. Sevika was concerned for her. Also, did you notice: Jinx didn't use real hair dye for Isha's hair. She just colored her hair with makeup, which is why it looks patchy and light and doesn't look like a proper dye job. Jinx doesn't believe in herself and doesn't want Isha to end up like her (hence her "Still thinking it's a dumb idea"), so she dyes her hair with something impermanent, so that later when Isha "inevitably" gives up on her and stops following her, she can wash it out.

What I find interesting and I noticed that not a lot of people comment on that is how absolutely tired and defeated Caitlyn looks in scenes like the one with Maddie 🥲 like we have no way to know what happens when she is on her own but she looks like the only thing moving her is her hunt for Jinx and nothing else.... I admire how much care the animators gave into little microexpressions, it shows on Cait a lot this season

I didn't really think that much about Sevika and Jinx' dynamic before you mentioned it, but you are absolutely right she is soft on Jinx. Or as soft as she can be. Probably not only because their shared connection with Silco but also their connection with Vander. When Sevika was waiting at Vander's statue she was looking up at him with genuine regret. Now that Piltover's boot is coming back down in full force she probably had a very similiar moment like Silco and now just misses the old hero of the underground. And regrets betraying him. Probably wishing that things had gone differently between them at the end of act 1 of season 1. Very cool and observant reaction and I think it is actually pretty cool how you analyze certain scenes take by take. Even if they are as horrific as the Maddie jumpscare in Cait's mansion.

Some observations on the first Maddie scene you picked up on: caitlyn avoids all affection from Maddie pretty much, pulling away every time. When Maddie goes for a kiss, Cautlyn jerks her head away. It's subtle and you need to go slow, but it's there (hence why paying attention to Caitlyn's eyes and body language is so important this Act). Also, that is not actually Caitlyn's room - it's missing the big pillars and the decorated back board. Perhaps a spare room for the obvious rebound. Regarding Maddie - yes, she was the first to pound her chest. Also, all of her dialogue says to Caitlyn how in control she is, how she is in charge, how she can do anything. Just something to ponder. The Ambessa Caitlyn conversation is very interesting as it shows Caitlyn is wavering already, and Ambessa is literally and metaphorically stoking the flames. Also I think the memorial scene where you say Caitlyn looks super creepy - watch it again, and see how Maddie reacts to something Caitlyn clearly says to her. What could caitlyn be deciding in front of that which would annoy Maddie so much? Also, you'll notice that as Act 2 and 3 go on, there seems to be a competition to make Caitlyn more attractive. Well spotted on how those prisoners see Jinx and her reaction to being touched. She has such a great arc this act.

I'm loving your reactions, it's very much the same as my initial reactions. Caitlyn I think is rebounding, badly, and she definitely has a type, but she is still hurting from both her mother's death and how it ended with Vi. Ambessa and Maddie are sort of playing the devil and angel roles on Caitlyn's shoulders, but Caitlyn is still a smart woman, she sees the manipulation from Ambessa. She sees Ambessa stoking her fire, her hatred for Jinx. Isha is who heals Jinx closer to Powder, she's still nuts, but loads more stable. Until of course she's taken, then all bets are off.

FYI, there's about a 3-6 month time skip in this episode since episode 3. Linke I believe confirmed this, so Jinx and Isha has had some time together, and Isha has really tempered and 'healed' Jinx. Hence, Jinx is dead, Powder enjoys the calmed isolated life with the little happiness and friend that literally fell into her life.

everyone united in abhorrence over maddie popping up on that bed 😭 cait is such a bloody mess it's so 🤌🏼 gotta add tho, there is something so poignant about cait putting the jinx board over her mother's portrait.. in pursuit of honoring the legacy and the name, bringing justice for her murder she completely lost her mother and herself, and ironically lost sight of all that makes cait cait... and her dynamic with ambessa is truly intriguing given what figures they have recently lost.. this show does relationships so well they are all incredibly completing and fluid, what they are doing with jinx and isha(and sevika) is pulling strings in me I didn't know I had.. and the coolest detail ever is the wolf howl that morfs into a cart dashing to stillwater first time we see it in the episode foreshadowing the beast coming up the same carts, man this show is endless 😩

27:30 It’s true that her intentions aren’t always clear but Ambessa is truly a manipulative person. This scene in particular shows her “stoking the flames”, pushing Caitlyn towards a direction without fully saying it outright, even when it sounds sincere. A bit of a fox side, we barely see from her. 😏

The "paint the town blue" Montage shows Ambessa being frustrated in her attempts to manipulate Caitlyn. The animation tries to misdirect our interpretation of Caitlyn. Jinx is inadvertently raising Isha, in the manner she learned to parent from Silco. Isha already knows how to assemble anot explosive device. That means Isha is becoming a child soldier. It seems possible that, as long as Singed kept refining shimmer, Silco didn't care what Singed did.

Your reaction to the Cait/Maddie scene is priceless 😅 As a fellow Cait admirer, maybe it would be useful to keep a few things in mind to not judge her too quickly: First of all, she is going through the grief of not only losing her mother to the sister of someone she cares a lot for (which is a very complicated and charged form of rage), but she has also lost her whole support system. Her father is absent, probably dealing with the loss on his own. Jayce is off to whatever place the Arcane sent him. She pushed Vi away because, deep down, she knew choosing between Jinx and her was an impossible ask. So yeah, she is currently alone. Then factor in that one of the reasons that Caitlyn gets attached to Vi so quickly is because she is not really a loner type. She operates better in partnerships, and given the intense physical attraction, traumatic attachment, mutual caretaking, and a sense of joint purpose, she finally experimented something she had wanted for a long time. Losing that when you are already grieving is very difficult, so it is very easy for people to go for the next best thing. Maddie is there, she behaves very reassuringly, allows her to bounce off her conflicted thoughts about Ambessa, and most of all, allows her to transfer her sexual and emotional frustration with Vi to someone else, mitigating the grief of the breakup and allowing her to focus on the really heavy shit of hunting Jinx, being at war with Zaun, and assuming the Kiramman legacy. Of course, when the "need" is covered (if you know what I mean), she puts distance because Maddie was just a substitute, not the real thing. In any case, you'll feel vindicated by episode 8. I really look forward to your reaction to that one, haha!

It's so cool to see someone being as obsessed with this show as I am. 😂 As you said, I hardly ever felt as attached to fictional characters as with Arcane. Jinx is such a great character, the animation, her style, and Ella Purnell's voice delivery adds so much personality. Jinx is also able to sprinkle some dearly needed comical moments onto all this trauma and pain. 🎪

@@ClaudieTV I'll add one more thing because of what you said about female representation and characterization in this show. I've just watched a watch party of ep. 8 with Amanda Overton and Katy Townsend who voiced maddie. Near the end, Amanda says this about the world of Runeterra which Piltover is a part of: They wanted to create a fictional world in which all these unnecessary labels we humans created don't exist. Where your gender or sexuality are just a given and don't inform which roles you can fill in society. It's more important if you are, for instance, born with magic abilities. I'm but a man but I think they achieved what they strived for, it's reflected everywhere. I hope other film studios can have a look at this and learn how you write actual strong characters regardless of their gender.

Quick commet before bed: Time skips it is. 3-6 months probably. Cait hair gets longer. Some said a year....And since you have mentioned about what Caitlyn's mom in EP3, on what would she react to her current deeds. Well, I watched the reaction of Amanda on a livestream she said" At this moments, Cait is actually thinking "What if i dated someone that my mom would aprrove of?" "Hence the professional entanglement and the false projection Cait has for her mom. So, yes, that's why is Maddie....so far😂😂

I believe that the events of the entire season are foreshadowed by watching the intro IN REVERSE. Ekko's shadow ticks counterclockwise, but when reversed, it ticks clockwise. We begin the season with Caitlyn and 'Heavy is the Crown,' Viktor becoming robot jesus, Vi and Cait breaking up, Jayce going towards the arcane anomaly, and the black rose being given in Act 1, so why show all those tiny details at the end of their sequences in the intro instead of the beginning. As for Vi covering her tattoo, what if it's meant to be seen in reverse to show that she may need to find herself again this season? Sorry that was longer than I intended. Your reactions and analysis are great! Can't wait to see how you react to the rest of this masterpiece of a show 😄

to me it always seemed like Maddie was that kid in school thats like 1-2 years younger and that idolizes Caitlyn from afar, maybe for some minor kindness or whatever, joins the enforcers to be like her, she BEAMS when she tells Vi about Cait making a scene on her behalf with the enforcers in episode 1, she claps when in her opinion Cait gets the recognition she (Maddie) always knew she (Cait) deserved and well, then this episode happened ;)
