Boxers Road 2 is the spiritual successor to this. Its career mode is based on the japanese only Hajime No Ippo Victorious Road which had a career mode. The sequel we got Victorious Boxers 2 Fighting Spiirt is actually the third game in the series

One of the best boxing game, and also this game basically introduced me to this long running manga/anime Hajime Ippo when I did a further research on it back then in old Internet.

Once you get used to the mechanics, then you play with Takamura??? Bro is INSAAAANELY op in this game lol. MAN I miss this game!!! I Randomly thought about it, typed it in, and this video cane up. I had no idea what it was back then. I found it in a pawn shop discount bin for like $3. I didn't even want it. My grandmother made me get it, of all things 😂 but once i got home and played it, I was SOOOOO glad she made me get it!!! Man this was like 02 or 03??? Sheeesh. Great game tho!!! By the time i finally got to watch the Anime i already knew the whole story and all the characters because of the game 🤣🤣🤣

Hi ! Thank you for the video, nice to see a review for this 1st game of the series ! I've played Victorious boxer 2 around 2006 (and still today), i really loved the game despite all the bad reviews at the time, i'm glad the game finally have the success he deserves nowadays. I really like your vid and i was pretty curious to play the 1st victorious boxer. Man i just found it on ps2 this morning and i just finished couple of games. It's mindblowing, can't believe they did that 3 years before fight night. Very different to the second game, excellent feeling on footwork, angles and knockdowns. Just shame missing set up difficulty like on the 2nd. Fact : the 2nd is too speedy, excellent but very very quick. If you can, try the pal version on 50hertz, the game just feels perfect, i know it's an exception, we all prefer the 60 hertz but it's the only game i know who is better on 50 hertz ! (i think you can emulate 50 hertz on emulator)I hope you will make all the series. Cheers !

There is Hajime no Ippo (this is the name of the boxing Anime that Victorious Boxer is based on) game on the GBA, that is a first person punch out style game. It's really good.

Seriously though for a smaller channel this was so well put together, and it's really refreshing to see reviews from games like this from someone who understands boxing and can appreciate them on those terms beyond it just being a video game. I've tried it recently, I don't like the tank control movements, the best boxing games are KO King 2002, Fight Night Rd 3, Rd 4 and Champion. Also, Undisputed on Steam is probably the best game today.
