I was there last year 2023, and went on Sunday and Monday this time around. If I compare this year to last year, the watches overall across all brands were not as great, but the experience on a visitor standpoint was better. You just have to really plan ahead though. I made a new friend there (who's from Germany) on a Monday who met you and your husband the day before, and I got jelly because I also wanted to meet you both 🥲

It's great that you mention Piaget. Their sales consultants are absolutely amazing. My 18 yr old son went into the Sydney Australia boutique and was treated so generously, showing him the entire range and he tried on their top tier watches. They certainly are focused on the potential customer. It's what we all want as watch enthusiasts !! Thanks for a great video 👍👍

The problem I have with W&W is that year on year it's increasingly geared towards very wealthy customers, and as Jenni said, you can often see it in the booth design. The warmth of the "mid tier" brand, like Nomos and Frederique Constant, stood out for me, otherwise it's a cold museum-like experience. IMO the best experience is actually to be around Geneva that week (the "pirate" event and brands, as the Rolex CEO just called them). The "Time to Watches" event at the HEAD, see the dozens of independents exhibiting at the Beau Rivage, or the "Masters of Horologie" at L'iceBergues. At those events, can handle their watches, talk directly to the brand reps, share your love of watches, make friends and contacts - it's great!

Ehh, not really. The reason she wasn't treated as a VIP is because she didn't request VIP treatment. If she had, she almost certainly would've gotten it given the size of her audience (a YT watch channel with 331k subs is almost certainly enough to get you some sort of media/VIP pass for the event that would've gotten her into the restricted areas).

Jenni, thanks so much for this "real" point of view of the event. So refreshing to see vs other youtubers who are treated as VIP and only have good things to say about brands. I agree on IWC, they are more focusing on VIP/Media and rich clients than people looking at their entry level and that's the same after you purchase one of their cheaper watch.

"Bigger the booth or brand the less they cared" Best comment yet from anyone. This echos shoppers experience going into high end watch stores in the U.S. You go in wearing a Seiko one is almost ignored. Go in next day with Panerai or Rolex they roll out the red carpet. Not a great way to get the next generation into watches.

Thank you for your concise, organized and personalized perspective of the WW exhibition. I really felt it when you described the sensory experience in the beginning and how the use of carpets and sound dampening materials, as well as indirect lighting gave me a feel of being there as you described and showed the different booths and hands on experiences. I’ve been influenced by your opinion on several high end watches I bought based on some of the comparisons you have made with other brands. I loved your impression (8:54) of someone saying, "No, this is just for VIPs." Was that Mr. Talking Hands himself, Andrew Morgan, hugging you toward the end (14:30) of the video? How many people did you meet who knew you from watching your videos? Were there any "wonders" there? OK, enough with the questions. Thank you for that informative video. Most of us are not likely ever to attend but thank you and your husband for doing so in our stead.

Well done for another excellent video. I think it's good to talk about the general atmosphere, and in particular the visual and audio aspects of the spaces. Had the opportunity to meet Jenni and Kai there (and even made a cameo appearance 😅 in the vid). They are even more amazing in person than behind the camera. It was a pleasure meeting you two and hope to see you next year and chat about our recent watch purchases. Also agree on your commentary about the show. My favorite part (1st year also) was the smaller brands and the touch and feel sessions. We had private showings with Zenith, Vacheron, Tag, and Cartier all of which were great. Zenith and Vacheron especially had really extraordinary experiences and we tried on a bunch of novelties and current catalog watches. Was great to see, touch and try on the limited edition Tangente 38s, solely because of this (and the cards the NOMOS team was gracious to give me), I am actively looking to get two for my wife and I. Also got to try on a Ressence type 1 which I probably would have never been able to do (it’s awesome and now on the “list”). A lot of the other brands (Rolex, Tudor, Chopard, Patek, JLC) left much to be desired as the “behind the glass” experience was only marginally better than just viewing the watches online.

In the US I have tried to purchase Patek Philippe at two AD's in two different cities, and my experience echoes Jenni's thoughts about Patek at Watches & Wonders -- "it is lame" for sure! After all, the purpose of exhibiting is to reach new customers, not to turn them off!

I too am a lowly commoner, but I was wearing my Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence and visited the Zurich Chopard boutique the week prior, and they gave me their number and said to reach out if I wanted a private touch and feel session during W&W...which I did and got! I also just found an employee in the Vacheron Constantin booth and just started talking watches with him, and recommended I check back in a few hours, which I did, and got a private session! So there are ways around it. Also, not every brand did this, but at the info desks you can sign up for group touch and feel sessions and I managed to schedule that with Zenith and H. Moser. I missed my session with Parmigiani Fleurier bc I found Andrew Morgan and we talked for quite a while. Tried on his friend's 5811 too :O

This year´s experience was much better than last year´s; much more interaction with the brands was possible. I participated in 3 „touch-and-feel“-sessions - with Chopard, Moser and Parmigiani. If you want to handle the pieces of Patek Philippe, you can go to the salon in the city center of Geneva where you would also be able to see the „Rare Handcrafts“.

Overall, it's definitely a great experience. But when I think about the entrance fees, and last but not least the travel and accommodation costs, then I think about whether there is any added value in an active presence compared to a passive one in the form of video contributions. The total costs can easily make up a good portion of a new, beautiful watch.

I like how W&W appears to be noticeably more laid back and casual than Baselworld, which had more of a formal/business casual atmosphere based on attire. Patek, Rolex, and Richemont started it so you may have thought that it would be just as formal. But, it seems like they learned from Baselworld and made it more geared towards the public (?). Not sure on that, as Baselworld was both B2B and open to the public, too.

As a dedicated watch collector, I find it astounding that some brands, whether at W&W or their boutique, will only let you in if you have an “invite” or “appointment”. Such crap. I went to the AP boutique in Vegas recently - no appointment - they eventually let me in but pretty much said no chance in hell of your getting an AP unless we’ve sat down with you 7 + times. Get real - it’s a trust town! If I have the cash let me buy. Otherwise I’ll but elsewhere.

I would have thought having a 331k subscribed watch channel makes you a watch VIP .... so all credit to you for not pulling that card with them and giving us honest feedback .....

The best WW video on youtube so far. Really. CongratulationsJenni! One quick question: apart from the standard snobs from Patek, Rolex etc… can you actually buy the other watches there? Thank you

Great video. Super idea to go in as a regular visitor and give that perspective! Very disappointed that the big brands treat an open day like a VIP day, so the people who would love to see these watches and see what the fuss is about and if one day one is in their future... are put off! Why else would you come to a show if not to see the brands you only get to hear about. Puts me off them. Anyway thanks for the tips!

I agree with you on if it’s public day then stop the snobbery
