lol at Neal brown scared of playing the big boys. Every fucking week there is something new . WVU is the only school out of the last 5 years that has played 2 power 4 conf teams . This amazes me . Which is stupid now because if we win our conf we can make the playing also if we win 10 games they would love to get WVU into a playoff game . Believe it or not WVU good is good for college football . We travel well and show up for events and things which makes us made for tv because the fans want to see what our dumb ass fans do next like burn couches and all that crap . But back to WVU scheduling . So brown is scared to play Alabama but had nothing to do with playing 2 power 4 teams the last 5 years . Sort of like the devil huh? When something is good we say it was someone else who did it but when it’s bad we blame it all on brown .

First game of every year should be Marshall University. But West Virginia will have to pay them to come to Morgantown every year. If not they will want to play some games in Huntington which Marshall stadium just isn't the best.

But I’ll say this , with today’s playoff being 12 teams and the circumstances the smart thing to do would be to schedule Marshall again and a Cpl other cup cakes to get ready for your conference. I’d be almost positive if you win 10 games in the power 4 you would most definitely get in . Soon you will see Notre dame will be left out in the cold with no conf to rely on

It would cost us 2 million to pay the buyout if we drop the Alabama game. Financially that’s a tough hit. Plus it may hurt us with recruiting. I hope we keep the game

I think keep Alabama on the schedule. Saban helped to bring that to WVU. If you lose the game it’s not going to take you down in rankings. If you win, let’s recall Texas got in the championship by beating Alabama last year. It’s only two years, and it gives WVU fans something that will bring the excitement and all eyes on Morgantown.

Cant ever get a bama win without playing them, playing a bama gets alot more eyes on wvu and does a better job of spreading our brand. The Kevin White team played a good game against bama. WV vs bama is overall a way better game for everyone. Drop fcs and play them both.

The problem is having a rival out-of-conference. The entire argument hinges on one P4 non-conference opponent yearly. The ACC May very well fall apart or look very different when FSU and Clemson depart. Maybe they can be our Group-of-6 opponent in a few years?

I agree I like playing good teams as a mountaineer fan but the other Big 12 teams really play some really weak opponents like we're talking super weak. But unfortunately for West Virginia will never get in the SEC playing weak opponents like the rest of the Big 12. But not been able to afford a good coach I say we never get in the SEC.

The thing is about playing Pitt and other teams that we recruit against is if we don’t beat them on a consistent basis then we will probably lose out in recruiting imo . I’d rather do what other big 12 teams do and play joke non conference teams in the wac and Mac so we can pad wins every year to help our fans sleep at night by winning 7 games every year .

I agree with Paul, the new landscape of college football and the CFP have made conference play vastly more important than non conference. I'd much rather play weaker tune-up games to get the team ready for conference play. Big 12 conference title means more to me than a pipedream of beating Alabama week 1. If we were replacing Alabama for a G5/FCS, I'd be against it. But if it is for Pitt, I'd be more than happy for the trade. Doubt WVU pays money to opt out of the game, though, so I think it is a non-issue.

The Alabama series was a Lyons thing when he was AD. There has been chaos in alignment since that contract was signed. Replace a FSC team with Pitt and keep Alabama home and home.

I think this is a bad move. Alabama has been the premiere football program over the past two decades. Sure, playing Pitt every season would be ideal, but why not remove UT Martin, VMI, or Ohio?

I think it's a good idea to remove Alabama and I would also remove Tennessee and in the future never put Penn State on the schedule those teams are just too good for West Virginia. West Virginia's more less a mid-tier team. Unfortunately bad coach selections has made West Virginia football basically mid-tier I would even say below mid-tier at this point. I would focus on scheduling Pitt, Marshall and Virginia tech. There's your easy games below mid-tier teams that West Virginia can beat consistently probably moving forward. Then later if we get a great coach in the coach fixes the football program maybe go back to scheduling Penn State. But yeah with Coach Brown we need to stay around Marshall pitt and Virginia tech level.

I started off the week confident that we could beat a shitty Pitt team that will struggle to make a bowl and barely heat cincy when they completely folded in the 4th quarter . Yall know cincy ? The cellar of the big 12? Probably will play Houston for dead last this year ? I looked at our pass defense last year and the we gave up the same amount of yards our first 2 games and fixed our 2ndary . We held 4 teams under 200 passing yards and was 8th in the big 12 . I had complete confidence that we will do the same and finish Pitt off as our backup who ran a simple offense last year and kept the ball on the ground beat Pitt who we weren’t favored by much either at home with green starting . I think 7? 5.5? But after I keep reading our fans comments and seeing the Pitt fans coming on peoples content and trolling our fans including me and telling me us hillbillies can’t beat anyone and we suck and our own fans agreeing and saying we are going to lose ? Ya I’m with everyone else let’s just expect to lose so it don’t hurt as bad when we do . I am taking Pitt and the money this weekend so if I lose that means WVU won and if I win that means the loss don’t hurt as bad .
