Is Wild Turkey's 70th Anniversary Bourbon Worth the Hype?

If there is a superlative for "Distillery of the Year" it'd be hard to beat Wild Turkey. This and RR15 were absolute home runs at both ends of the price spectrum this year!

Really like the WT 101 70th Anniversary. My favorites would be RR15, Rare Breed Non-Chill Filtered and Russell’s Private Select picks. 🥃

This is a fantastic bottle right here. Only paid a bit more I believe 60 at my local BevMo. Only grabbed one bottle as I’m trying to increase the ratio of other categories in whisky to a disproportionate amount of bourbon. You know how that goes though. Just saw the Russel’s 10 LL/ME the other day & snagged two. Great way to scale down in bourbon haha. Anyway I had my expectations a little wrong on this 70th anniversary 8 year before trying. I’m a HUGE fan of regular 101 & was somehow thinking this would be a “super 101”. To me though the age makes it a completely different whiskey. Don’t get me wrong I’m thrilled to have this in my collection but I do find a time & place where I do really enjoy the heat of a slightly younger spirit like the original 101. I actually thought the mash bill had more rye for years because of that phenomenon of youthful heat & rye spice sometimes being indecipherable from each other. Great review & happy holidays👍

@ I was in Sedona AZ last weekend. They are on the shelf at 40-ish bucks if you buy six of them! My luggage was loaded with 3 bottles of JM cigar blend, ended up buying 3 bottles of WT 70 to share with friends and customers.

Unfortunately I missed it or at least I didn’t see it yet there’s always hoping. Big fan of WT. in my area of Ohio it’s been a tough allocation season very inconsistent. Stuff is just starting to hit but not much of it.
