Modern Yawgmoth finally got a new treat with Lord of the Rings, and Reid's certainly delighted to give it a try!

That single turn in game 3 vs Living End was (excuse my French) fucking insane, felt like both players navigated it really well

Reid is back on Yawgmoth - I’m here for it! 48:56: That Endurance was right on time! Love that you’re getting this deck back out. It’s my principal deck for modern, and has been for years. Love the Yawgmoth combo. I’ve been playing Sheoldred in the main deck - not sure of your thoughts on that. It has been incredible for me. It just wins games on its own, and it’s a very real combo with Yawgmoth and the engine. Shores up game ones against fast matches that can be unwinnable if they get too strong a hand, like Bogles, burn, and prowess.

Id recommend retooling the deck a bit to include orcish bowmaster in the list. It fits in perfectly in the deck for certain matchups

2:08:50 you should attack with wolves and messenger before casting grist. if they let them in they go to 1 you can grist sac messenger and win with etb if they block everything you dont play grist exile grief and possibly wolves and have a big ooze that can kill ent, if they block 2 they take 3-4 damage and give you wolves in graveyard for ooze to block ent without losing yawgmoth, if they block one wolf they get 5 damage and you still do the same, if they block the messenger they take 6 damage then you grist sac messenger kill ent and they cant living end because messenger kills

In the final match, an alternative line to casting that Geist could be to Eldritch for an Endurance to be extra safe against a LE, since one was bottomed by the oppo. Great showcase of my favorite deck from my favorite player!

1:54:29 sac geist with grist kill murktide geist comes back as 3-2 haste attack with everything he goes to 1 with empty board and you still have 2 undying creatures even if he sweeps+casts huge creature you have good chances at dealing the last damage at the end

I want to see Reid play an updated Jund list with Delighted Halfling (uncounterable Wrenn, Liliana, etc.).
@RumpledNutskin
@RumpledNutskin Жыл бұрын
The reason you play mid range decks like jund is because you have lots of good top decks in the mid to late game. A mana dork is the opposite of that
@newscoulomb3705
@newscoulomb3705 Жыл бұрын
@@RumpledNutskin I'm not sure that applies to Jund. It has a number of terrible mid to late game top decks, such as Thoughtseize. Jund wins off the back of powerful planeswalkers that give card advantage over time. Playing them a turn early while making them uncounterable provides a huge power boost to traditional Jund decks.

I suspect that card availability might be mentioned because Bowmasters are conspicuously absent from the 75--especially with all of the grindy decks that're jamming The One Ring. I can imagine arguments against Bowmasters, but in a deck that can fetch them , 1 in the 60 and 1 in the 15 seems reasonable.

If you‘re explicitly trying to find out whether Delighted Halfling is good or not, shouldn’t you be running 3-4 to start instead of some Birds?

Halfling produces colored mana for one card in the entire deck. I think the value evaluation is how much that hurts compared to gaining Wren and Six / Counterspell durability.
@ThePethrax

@bradyconnor we question because we want to learn from said pro tour winner. Why does he say he is excited for a card, but only run 2 of it in an otherwise untouched deck? The value he states is understandable, but with so few, it's value never got a chance to be show imo. Even one more copy would make more sense, as each copy increases the chance the card sees play drastically.

Why are we on the Sylex in board? Is there a match-up where that is specifically relevant? When do we need Ratchet Bomb with upside? List seems sweet. Mana problems aside I might cut two Bops for Halflings.

Game 1 of match 1 is exactly why i think every format needs to start looking at the efficacy of removal. That guy literally just didnt let the game proceed in any meaningful way whatsoever. Cheap interaction is alwaya going to be the worst aspect of magic.
